FIFA 10 360/PS3 Demo Feedback + Videos

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

I'm going to record some long passes tomorrow because from what I'm playing, those balls are moving at a pretty good pace and don't look floaty one bit. I can't see where people are seeing floaty long passes :CONF:

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

Ok played about 10 games and my impressions are:-

Improvements-

-Shooting by about 25%
-Crossing by about 25%
-Passing by about 10%
-Animations
-dribbling
-fantastic collision physics
-Slightly more freedom to the ball
-much better response times

What I was not expecting:-

-long passing to be still floaty
-360 dribbling to be hardly noticeable (yes I'm slowing it down)
-I'm still hitting the post and bar at least twice every game
-definate keeper bugs
-marseille scored a last minute equaliser and were credited with the win??

Personal thoughts:-

It's a good game and needs to be worked at to bring it to life. When you first play it seems like a 09.25 but it gradually comes into it's own the more you try new stuff. It's no huge upgrade, it's an ironing out of the frustrations, which I think is a good thing.

I am quite dissapointed in the long passing, it's still not zippy enough and resembles something far to light rather than a football thats been struck well and hard.

Overall a definate purchase but not massively different.

To be honest i think completely the opposite to you :)

I think everything is near enough bang on after playing alot of it with my mate earlier

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

Can't wait to get my hands on the demo this weekend. Thx for all the impressions guys. ;)

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

I like :).

I won't be wanting to play the AI though, professional = too easy, world class = too frustrating still. Online, especially on clubs, this could be a great game.

Finally it's worth shooting from outside the box :) The last 2 FIFAs have forced you to keep passing until you got a very simple chance, not this :).

Manual shooting may actually be more effective than assisted now - I tried assisted to see what it was like and kept hitting it at the keeper, on manual I was finding the corners more often than not, there seems to be much more control over your aim on this on manual :).

I agree with Dags about long balls, i've played some brilliant balls cross field and sometimes created chances by lofting it over the top of their defence for my winger, not floaty at all.
It depends where you are facing too, if you are facing away from the target it's more likely to float, if you face where you want to pass then it's not at all floaty. You also have to remember that not every long ball in real life is like a bullet, some floaty ones are fine. The animation always seems to look believable with regards to the path/flight of the ball.
Also, I think some of the shooting animations have been taken from 09 to be used as passing animations, and they fit in well.

I'm sorry, but if someone can't see the 360 degree dribbling then you are not very observant - when you're in defence and can't dribble far, or just want to hoof it out then it's not that noticeable, but in the final third when taking on a defender or approaching the goal, it sticks out like a sore thumb... It's so much better now that you can do slight changes in direction to set up a better shot or create some space rather than turning a full 45 degrees and slowing down/losing the chance. The skilled dribble is brilliant, you really can take players on with Ribery/Messi etc.

The only problems that I see are: Opponent AI (as explained before), keeper positioning (as shown in this goal, I thought it was good when I first scored it because a shot from there would have absolutely NO CHANCE of going in on 09, but then realised shortly after it was a bit silly and shouldn't happen), keepers not being able to be rounded and free kicks being too easy. Maybe at a push i'd say assisted passing is still too easy but compared to 09 it's a lot harder and now defenders seem much more able to intercept passes, so people shouldn't just be able to ping-pong it round constantly like 09.

I've not seen one gerrard type driven pass in all my games and any video.................so we wait with baited breath.

Agreed with all, I'm finding it really hard to play possession against Chelsea and Bayern because they choke out all of my space. But it's believable. Even though I'm getting incredibly frustrated not being able to hold the ball for more than 3 or 4 passes, I'm very impressed by the physicality.

Also playing a thru ball with Xavi and Iniesta is just perfect; through balls finally have the perfect pace and accuracy that I want so I can play in Henry and Messi on the run.

LOVE THIS GAME.

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

Had a another go for an hour tonight.

Still erring on the side of 'hmmmm'. No doubt its a better game than 09 (that I grew to really not like) and as said above, it does feel like 09.25 at times its that close.

Still has the frustrations of defenders nicking the ball off your toes and sometimes it just looks very clunky - then at other times, it can look like the most realistic representation of football bar watching it on SkyHD. Very odd.

I am shit at FIFA though, so thats not helping - about 10 games, no goals scored (on Pro) - what happened to my gaming ability of 10 years ago :( sad...

Anyways, still getting this, whether it will be a keeper for me personally is going to be touch and go - much dependant on PES.

Finally, definitely not floating long balls! They HAMMER them cross field and some bend beautifully to the targets, very impressed with that.

oh - and whats 'skill dribble'? Is that different to holding down the LT and moving the right stick? All I can do is roll the ball side to side, or a flick in the diagonal to drop the shoulder.

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

I think the fact that it is hard to score certain goals and that it will probably be even harder for the "real" game excites me even more.

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

Skill dribble is LT + RT, you can make quick touches and burst into a sprint etc. I think it's better than any of the tricks, you can sort of create your own ones with it.

Tyler: "It's the aeroplane celebration that he is showing us"
Andy: "Am just surprised he's not taken over"

lol

i think the thing about this fifa is that it will get better the more you play it,so there will be a difference between a novice player who just picks it up and someones who puts in the hours playing it,stick with it man you will reap the rewards of playing it more:))

Probably the problem, I dont have hours to dedicate to it - which is where PES is a winner as its pretty much instant gratification and its play and patterns are burned into my brain!

I will do my best though, I really want FIFA to be superb for me!

Re: FIFA 10 Demo Feedback + Videos

Hey guys does the fake pass/shot even work? Also has anyone been able to perform the fake pass Lucho did in the French trailer?
