Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

I think we should wait for gameplay footage now...it seems both Konami and EA have talked and said everything they need to and the last thing now for us is to wait for vids as there just going to rehash the same BS statements till release now.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

they need to sort out the framerate in the BAP camera if it is ever to be decent. I hate playing with a shimmering crowd in the background. BAP IS SHITE.

You do know you can change the camera to the normal side-on wide-angle mode? The default BAP camera is hopeless....unplayable.

BAP mode online 5v5 is superb. Even off-line, BAP mode is good.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

Ok I will give you a proper translation:

- In a tv show called GIGA Games Fifa09 was demonstrated. I will give you a brief summary of what was said and shown

- It was not a classical demo where you could chose between 2-4 teams only. I think they were able to select any team. The first match was Dortmund vs Frankfurt and the second one was Germany vs Spain ( were was england once again? ha couldnt resist :) )

- As you know from Fifa, you can play around in the arena during the loading process. New in 09 is that once the loading is finished you are beeing transformed into the stadium where you can start the match or continue playing around like in the arena but now with all the fans watching you

- You could see on the first look that player momvement is now far more realistic in terms of ball control, tacklings and so on. It looked awesome! The players do fall only if they are getting hit at their standing leg. If you do not hit your opponent "right" he will not fall but stumble and then continue running. Rainy conditions are very different from dry conditions. You will recognize that passes are far less accurate. The ball stopped before he could get received very often and got very fast at long passes when bouncing on the ground.

- The refs were critized for giving way too much fouls and often even penalizing them with a yellow card. Next point on the critics list was the advantage rule. Sometimes it happend that you got fouled but one of your teammates got the ball with the ref aborting the advantage a moment later.

- shots do look way better and stronger but still not with the proper power you would expect them to have

- the keeper is better and catches more safely. he still does a lot of punches but not into the middle of the box but towards the corners

- the game feels a lot faster when running with a player. when passing it sill does not look perfect. A fast direct short-pass tactic is not possible because of the reaction time and the fact that your teammates slow down when receiving a passe. the same problem with players slowing down is with through passes

- in BAP mode the player receives mission tasks which once solved fill up you point numbers. you can invest these points to raise your attributes. you also cant change any tactics. once you become the captain of your team you may change the tactics.

***

Ok this is some personal opinion he got after seeing it on a tv show. I would not give too much on this but when it was broadcasted on giga there must be a video of it on the inet.

Search guys!!! :)

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

From the "250 improvements" thing, and from the preview we saw the other week saying "it's incremental improvements like PES used to be", I think it will be gameplay improvements rather than tacking on new features.

It just seems like they don't think the reaction times or the goalkeepers deflecting everything are an issue. :eh:

I'm pretty sure i read a couple of times that they're still trying to tweak the keepers? I'm pretty sure they know it's an issue. Whether they finally get it right is another thing.

Second part of an interview, it's weird how he didn't know what it meant to dummy a pass, the previous interview in a question about if there were now 'quick restarts' he answered saying 'you can play a quick rematch online'. I guess those are honest mistakes, but I knew what those questions meant the first time i read them....... Also in asking about if you can shoot low without just power he talks about the finesse shot as if its new and doesn't answer the question??? weird again. Other than that the part where he talks about stamina sounds very promising! :)

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

"And there goes Ronaldo, if he beats the keeper and put's the ball in the net he surely must score..."

And unless I'm very much mistaken...
*Paul Robinson fumbles a back pass*
I am very much mistaken!
*Kamara bobbing and weaving in confusion*

There's nothing wrong with the player
*Eduardo rolling around*
.. Except that he's broke his leg

Oh! The goalkeeper is down injured. Di Canio must score!
*Di Canio picks up the ball and signals the keepers injury.*
And now, excuse me whilst I interrupt myself...!

It looks like he's communicating with the Bolton bench from his seat in the stands..
*Sam Allardyce is on the bluetooth headset when he suddenly breaks into a smile*
Seems to me like he can see Newcastle in his earpiece!

Well just about every interview I've read with members of the EA team seem to indicate that these are two areas which have received the most focus. What I'm not sure about is this.......in the interviews they talk about reaction times being greatly improved. But are they comparing this to FIFA 08 or Euro 08? Same goes for the keepers although imo they were actually a good deal worse in Euro 08.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

someone better sneak some worthy footage of the game! or pictures at the very least can't wait to hear what they think about the game

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

there is a live stream on www.giga.de for everyone who wants to tune in like me.

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

could someone record it please? i cant stay awake that long today as i came home at 5:30 this morning ;)

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

it will be more than 2 seconds. they usually talk crap and play like noobs but we can hope for around 10 minutes of ingame footage.
(bap, arena and 1on1 was confirmed in the comments)

but dont blame me if they show tonight another episode :) I am not 100% sure that it will the one we all hope for. I see the chances at 85%

Re: FIFA 09 Discussion Thread

by the way, if anybody lives in Geneva, and is interested in taking a trip to Leipzig show in Germany, pm me cheers
