YES!!!! they fixed the scoreboard, it now looks realistic :| it has the clubs name rather that the logo (which looked very PES and arcadey)

To be honest the PC version doesn't look all that shabby either. I have a hard time telling them apart because I've not seen, in adequate resolution, the details that separate them. They share nice 3D grass, great grass colours, great looking player models, much improved lighting etc, and those details are really all you can tell from a 400x300 picture.

The thing I don't understand is why go next gen graphics wise but not use the next gen engine its a joke really... when they could have just taken the whole leap and I would have been a happy bunny and would finally start entering some PC fifa comps instead of people constantly glitching! the current gen game engine which can be abused so bad!!!!!!!!!!

Don't make me laugh, have you seen the gulf in quality between the 360/PS3 and PC versions of FIFA 08? You can't honestly tell me that you think that the PC version, which will have the same basic gameplay engine as that and is developed by the same team will be as good as or better than one which is an improved version of one that is so much better already?

The console versions are superior.

ea clearly stated that the pc version will mainly be a polished up "current-gen" fifa...e.g. nicer graphics, (not on par with ps3 / xbox360) and the same old shitty gameplay.

FIFA 09 on PC has been customized and designed exclusively for the platform. The gameplay engine features year-on-year improvements, delivering the detail demanded by football fans.

FIFA 09 on PC now features new, leading-edge visuals that deliver graphics that exploits the power of hi-spec gaming PCs, as requested by PC gamers. Star players are featured in photorealistic quality with remodeled likenesses that show off skin tones and muscles in greater detail for ultra-realistic action.

That doesn't seem like it to me. A high-end PC will always achieve better results than a console.

They never mention anything about the gameplay taking advantage of high-end PCs, and its no surprise because in PC gaming, developers allow the graphics to scale up, not the actual gameplay because otherwise there'd be an obvious disparity in AI, physics engine, etc (imagine someone with a lower spec pc playing online against someone else with a much better spec-ed rig). For now, consoles will always have the edge since the game engine is developed for base specs that are pretty high to begin with (3-cores running at 3.2ghz each, 2 computing threads per core....assuming that the 360 is the lowest common denominator here)

To be honest what is said in that text is that FIFA09 PC has polished up graphics, and an engine that has had improvements from one year to the next (a bit redundant to say since that would be pretty obvious). You vould say that the engine perhaps has had slightly more modifications and such than usual, but it isn't based on the 360/PS3 engine, it is built in on the FIFA08 PC engine.

Exactly Fifa 09 on the Pc will be build on the Pc engine not Playstation 2.I don't understand people whow write different.Pc engine is not Ps2.

Ahh. Well, I've never played the PS2 version, but I was under the impresson that the PS2 versions and PC versions in the past has been identical (save for texture resolutions and screen resolution etc?

You missed out the important part of that quote, and that is "The PC version is created by the same team responsible for the PS2 version".

yep, if yer go to the official EA forums, the PC, PS2 and Wii are all categorized as current gen, so that sums it up pretty much.

But unlike previous years, EA have finally begin to show progress with the upgrade of graphics engine and addition teensy weensy features.
But the gameplay should be more or less the same as FIFA 08 PC, but with more animations and probably unnoticeable improved collision system.

At least, its a step up from FIFA 08, and we can always mod the game to our likings, even if its not comparable to the console versions.
Just look at PES2008, the kitserver by juce is making PES2008 look better than it should tbh.

Ok the Pc version is created by the same team but is not mean that the game for Pc will be the same as Ps2.The same team is not mean the same game.Pc version will be not conversion for Playstation 2.

What you quoted states details about the graphics, and even then when you compare the screenshots of the PC version and console versions of FIFA 09, the console versions still look to have superior graphics anyway.

"The gameplay engine features year-on-year improvements" means it will just be a tweaked version of FIFA 08 on PC, and "year on year improvements" are what they usually say they do every time anyway.

Good graphics + bad gameplay = bad game, unless you're a graphics whore.
