FC Barcelona Thread

No.

Cesc plays a more advanced role sometimes even as false striker.

In Arsenal, he played as a CMF and had his fair share of defensive work as well. In Barca Xavi plays in the role Cesc did for Arsenal and Fabregas is pushed more up playing much closer to opponent's net. Like an attacking midfielder and sometimes even as 'false' striker etc.

AH I see what u mean, in Arsenal he was often box-2-box or holding player.

But still C.ronaldo scores 2-3x goals for Madrid than MAn utd..but I see Madrid seem to score 2-3x goals Utd do.

I wonder if Messi would score as much if He played for say Man city.

It seems the gulf between to Spanish teams and rest of league is bigger than Top English teams to bottom teams.

Like in Soctland Henrik Larsson can score 40-50goals per season. Cause Celtic socre so many goals so often agaisnt much weaker teams.

how good is fabergas for barca why he score so often now?

Is it cause barca are so superior to other teams in spain they score more goals hence midfleiers score more goals?

Smae with messi and c.ronaldo? they score less goals in premierhsip?

Barca only pass it around the back according to some so how could they possibly score any goals?

erm im dumb? what was it!?

Somebody was saying recently that Barca just play the ball around the back all game. I was saying how could they score loads of goals if that was the case?

Basically, they clearly do not just pass the ball around the back all game.

Probably is because they are cheaters, doped and time wasters. They totally refuse to play forward. It's probably Unicef, or Platini, or Villar.

Watching this team play is boring because insted of running or tackling they play the ball all the time! Oich! I thought playing the ball wasnt important in this game.

When a team doesnt want to compete at the high level for whatever reason I get sad. The away matches of this season in La Liga show this team has lost the will to win everything. A sad day. We knew it would arrive, but that doesnt make it less sad.

I have little doubts that those some ayers will play at 100% in champions league and reach later stages. If they had played in La Liga as they will play at Leverusen, we wouldn be 10 points away. Very bad.

I think Guardiola should have been.more critical months ago. The way the team has thrown away some matches is staggering.

Surely that's La Liga, you may still be better than Real Madrid but their lethal when it comes to anyone but Barcelona.

I'd back Barcelona for the Champions League still.

Guardiola's words from 2010 "we owe you one" come to mind.

To give it all for the two copas is risky but that's apparently our chosen path. Guardiola will have to keep the rhythm pretty high in the League, though, as we need rhythm in order to be in form when the cup fixtures come. You can't rest players in the league and expect the team to have momentum for the UCL. He's got a pretty difficult task still, but I kinda expect two things from the team now:

Defeat Real in La Liga to taint their upcoming 32nd Liga and
Yeah... when and if it comes to, defeat Real in the Champions League. We need this or else... we're The 2010-11 Real Madrid! :))

Yup no La Liga for Barcelona :)

You may still win CL though so all is not lost

Should've been a mental 'bye bye' a couple of weeks ago, and maybe for Guardiola it was. Real lost 8 points in half a championship; it'd take special circumstances for them to lose more in the second half; ok, this is an overstatement as they WILL lose more, but wed have to make something close to a perfect season - which also is somewhat utopic.

Cheers to them, convincing or not their away record is really great and a lot better than ours this season. We may be the "best" team in the league, but with 4 wins in 10-12 away games i'm not sure wee should be crowned champions.

Puyol 56 games without loss ended yesterday. That sums it up pretty well..... With that defeat Barcelona went wrong path. Amazing how Mourinho can pull his trick in every league in the world!

still in CL but i would like a final Barca vs Real i believe Real can win it in 1 match , hard in 2 matchs so i think only team that can beat Barca in final of CL its Real !

Great play by Barca tonight. Really deserved win for them.

But I must say I have noticed something really funny for last couple of months.
Barca wins:
posts on forums (not only here): "Great play by Barca", "Best team ever", "There is no one playing like Barca", ...

Barca loses:
posts on forums: "Well, they don't have that will after having won so much for last couple of years", "They don't play very well in away matches", "They weren't lucky enough", ...

I don't have anything against that, as that is what every fan will write about team he favors.

But is it maybe that Guardiola's Barca is read? That after those years of playing with this style other teams just have found their weaknesses?

Woeful defensive display from Valencia and three of the goals were out of individual mistakes. Messi's finishing is deadly as ever. When on form probably the best finisher over the last couple of years.

When a team has a record of 50-4 at home and another one of 18-13 away, 34 points at home and 17 away... It's quite obvious that the teams haven't just "read" the play of the team. It's just that the team underperforms A LOT away. They don't play remotely similar.

If you had watched the team often, that would be very clear as it is for us, Barcelona fans.

The only great matches away have been in Champìons League or at Bernabeu. Add to this the ammount of injuries, and that the bad results came when the team was fatigued and out of form. And that the team features an excruciating average of almost one post per game this season!

As a side note, if Mourinho was our coach he would have been waiting the ref at the parking every week, because in away matches the team has had 5 goals wrongly disallowed and no penalties awarded away yet (why? why? why?).

But the main problem is the mentality. Clear as water, my friend.

Well, you are right, but Barcelona is still 10 points behind. Thing is La Liga isnt going that well.. but no problems in CL, Cup and Messi statistics :)

As for La Liga yes, I am a bit hysterical about it. Will be really pissed off if Barcelona wins Real at home and still dosent win La Liga.

"Poor Mourinho you got the title but you lost matches that matter the most :) "

drekkard I see your point and I must agree with you in some extent. But than again, Real also had injuries and lots of games, but they have more quality players than Barcelona does. I mean, when Barca's first 11 are all fit than there is no stronger team in the world. But when one from first 11 is not fit and someone else enters the field that teams is just not right. On the other hand, Real Madrid has players on bench who are not as good as first 11, but are very close to them.

@Enzo True, but I would rather loose both games against Barca and have La Liga title in my hands than win both games and have no title.

But of course, Real bench is much better and deeper than Barça's. Madrid has invested 3x more money than Barcelona during the Guardiola era, so it's only logical that their bench is deeper.

But I insist that the main reason is a mentality and attitude problem. The same players could be winning 4-0 or 5-0 all matches at home and at the same week, dragging to win 0-1 to Granada, loose 1-0 to Getafe or draw 1-1 against Espanyol. The same team that won at the Bernabeu 1-2 in the cup drew 0-0 to Villarreal without really playing to win.

They know they are better and try to minimize the effort (here the bench comes into play, that's right), but they have done it to a dangerous extent.

In matches like Villarreal and Espanyol, for example, when the team decided to try to win the match, they suddenly created up to 3 clear chances in each match in the last 5 minutes! They could have done that way before... It's a matter of being overconfident.

It's something that sooner or later happens to winning teams, the winning streak normally ends up because players loose the hunger or they loose form. But it saddens me anyway to see that this team could have won a lot more points in La Liga if they simply had put more intensity.

Clearly, Real is a better team than last year, but it's true that we're the only ones at fault for the situation.

Real may be winning easier than the 2011 Real, but they have 61 points whereas last year at this point the number was 58. We, on the other hand, stand at somewhere around 15 points less than last year.

fc barcelona, in the new season, will need 2 o 3 transfers.

Thiago silva or similar
A new abidal..

and more important, a FW different to messi,alexis... FW stronger, similar to larsson, for the bench...

I think between Pedro, Alexis, Messi, Villa, Cuenca and (if necessary) Fabregas/Iniesta our forward line is good enough.

We've already made 4 transfers, so my guess is that when the summer comes we'll be thinking about one more, max. Let's not forget Fontas is another member of the first team and he hasn't yet played. You shouldn't try and accommodate more than 4-5 people in a team or we'll be creating a team for the 2013-14 season.

I also doubt Montoya, Bartra, Fontas or Muniesa will be sold having just been promoted. These being defenders i dare say the Thiago Silva bit is one by and for the papers.

I kinda also thought Kiko was brought in as a future member of the first team (should he do well in Athletíc). Besides, I've heard stories about some revolutionary left-back in our junior squads that's ~16 years old? Drekkard probably knows more about all of these youngsters and their qualities...
