FC Barcelona Thread

Ha ha, I get it, but the reality is Shakhtar had 5 very clear chances to score (1 post, 1 empty net missed, 1 vs the goalkeeper...), something no one had managed at our stadium in 3 years. Pique and Busquets are a bit slow, we need to recover Puyol (Abidal won't make it this season) to gain a little more deffensive strength.

Fortunately for us, we recovered the ability to score goals aplenty, and that saved us. We managed to score 70% of our chances. It was about time we did, we were wasting a lot of them lately.

haha! and they manage to stay 11 v 11 . I thing Inter were a beast of a team. Barca was good ,but Inter didnt need to win to go through *sprinkler *sprinkler.... Shaktar was no inter!

Shaktar played much much better than Inter in every aspect of the game, except parking 10 men inside the area and wasting time and forcing only 40 minutes of effective play (during which we failed to score another goal, that's it), as Inter did. Some may like this kind of teams. I don't. I prefer shakhtar style and bravery and will support them from now on in their european clashes (except next week).

Saying "managed to stay 11 vs 11" may be related to Van Persie sending off? Because in the first 60 minutes Arsenal played with 11 players and had 0 shots, while Shakhtar had 8 shots up to that minute, including a goal and a post. That's why I think Shakhtar was brave and showed what supposedly big teams haven't shown here in the last few years.

yh Persie got sent off and Thiago got sent off was what I was referring too. Bravery shakhtar agree ,but they wont win nothing trying to out attack this barca team. Arsenal did it and fail and now you dont like them because of it RICH! to each it`s own. Inter didnt park it they had the lead 3-1. They won last year cause of it .

Did they? No shots isn't exactly attacking a team is it?

I`m referring last year, Not this time around. We lost 4-1 or something even though we scored early . This year we tried to park or defend for dear life. Almost lasted 45m in too  I guess he (drekkard) don`t fancy Arsenal ,because of this last ditch tactics is my point.

If you are going to bring up red cards. How about a bad call against Bojan for the goal that would have put Barca through against Inter last year? That was incredible. Barca got robbed of the final right there and then.

Beboq, I absolutely love Arsenal, but the tactics of Wenger in the matches of the last 2 CLs have been very deffensive and that's reality. Last year when you were 01, wenger decided to put the whole team back and finally paid for it.

Shakhtar, even if lost 5-1, showed a lot more than all the teams I've watched here in the last seasons, and deserves a lot of credit. Arsenal plays a splendid beautiful football most of the time, but needs to change the way they approach the big games.

You can talk about referees decisions all night long, but in the overall, I don't think there's a single team who benefits of errors more than others in CL or any clear victim. And having selective memory is not going to help.

barça 3-1 almeria

barça will go to bernabeu with +8 points..

End of first half. The referee ignored (again) a clear penalty and decided to also ignore the aggression of Marcelo, who should have been sent off. Great, great.

Interesting on the second penalty - Villa was rolling on the ground no more than 4 seconds before the incident. Rolling around, begging for a foul and then up in past the defence. Cunning.

Nice to see Messi demanding a yellow card in the first half on Marcelo. I thought that was in itself a yellow card offence?

Look I know their ability to pass is unmatched in the history of football but I just find their attitude repugnant. It is simply impossible to disposes a Barcelona player without them going to ground and demanding a free kick. They're like a parody of football sometimes.

Messi could have actually hurt someone in the crowd there at the end. Weird to see that from him, I'm sure he meant to hit the advertising boards, but a full speed volley from 10 feet from the world's best player wouldn't do a kid any good.

Not wanting to come across as two United focussed, but can you imagine if Wayne Rooney did that at Wembley? The FA's heads would explode.

But who made Pepe the chief of good behaviour? Anyway, for me, Pepe was the best player on the pitch. Great choice by Mourinho putting him there.

Marcelo, he's even the one who won their penalty :S
we deserved the 1st half penalty without doubt. It would have changed the game as if we already had two goals in advance things would be more difficult for Real to come again.
Anyway the result isn't bad, we still ahead by 8 points though the win would give us a positive push to keep going. I wished Guardiola could completed the sixth successive classico win though.
Looking forward to the next challenges.

What a way to have the possesion of the ball, it really looks like a training, very good game of Barca. La Liga it seems is going to stay in Barcelona....1 year more.

I think you're being just ridiculous here, sounding simply like another Barça heater. If that's what you have to say about the match, you don't like the same sport as I do.

About the game, I'm quite enraged with the team. For the bloody ninth time this year we are in advantage and we start passing around without any real intention to score and destroy our opponent. We did it at the Emirates and lost. We did it today and gave a present to Madrid giving them air to draw a match that should have been ours.

We should have gone for the match more aggressively and bloody score the secondth goal , or at least try it. At some time this season the players have lost any kind of ambition for the matches. We play well and dominate, but it seems we are shy to go on a scoring spree. We have had problems in Gijon, Sevilla, against Getafe and Almeria for the same very reasons: lack of ambition. We have to urgently change this or we won't win a single cup this season. Really, we don't know hot to be competitive anymore. We just think by playing nice good things will happen out of the air? Come on, we need to step up and put a higher gear now and for all.

By the way, the referee was awful. Mourinho was a coward at the start, putting 3 deffensive midfielders. When Ozil came to the pitch, he instantly changed the team. And Villa wasted 3 clear chances, continuing his bad streak.

I think Real won more than Barça today in the road to the cups, even if the league is almost ours.

So criticising Barca makes you a Barca hater? You Barca fans and your superiority complex...

Try to read what I wrote, and put arguments on your posts. Didn't you see the match? Don't you have nothing to say about it?

Do you think it was not penalty to Villa (both of them) like beachryan tried to absurdly say? It's quite clear it was a penalty and a red. Not even the madrid players moaned to the ref. Even ultra-fanatic websites like Marca and As recognize it was very clear. Didn't you see the replay? So you agree with Beachryan that Villa was diving 4 meters away without being touched? Then it will be 2 people on the world agreeing on that!

I guess some people will try to say things like "superiority comkplex" no matter what. It's their deffensive mechanism. Against what? I don't know, maybe they were hoping their 400 M€ team would at least try to play football at home.

You other teams and your inferiority. (note I didn't say complex)

Madrid got a Moral victory. The game changed for us when Puyi went down. The intensity in the team fell. We thought we had it won. We lacked a killer instinct. Maxwell and Keita weren't good either.

We did look down on them today and we paid for it. Nonetheless this was the least important of the Clasicos. This point essentially won us the League. 3 in a row. 3!!!!

Copa will be similar to this, specially in neutral ground. Champions will be different considering it's two games.

I enjoyed the match both had a few dodgy calls both had their chances. Not much to gripe about I`m amazed how well RM played comparing last time they were pants.

At the end of the day it was a very enjoyable game both teams could have won. Congrats to Barcelona for one more extraordinary game, extraordinary but boring for a Madridista, oh man, those 75% of ball possession you had in the 1st half killed my patience.

About refs decisions my thoughts are (you didn't ask me either but that's fine:
- Yes, it's penalty on Villa in the first half, undoubtedly
- Correct penalty on Villa 2nd half
- Also correct decision to appoint penalty on Marcelo although Alves should have been given the second yellow

I think people are realising Messi isn't "the guy next door", demanding yellows and doing this:
YouTube - Pepe tells messi use your mind

Pepe is another mental. I like him as a player but I hate his behavior. If you go to Madrid thread you will check my opinion about him. What I'm trying to said is that Messi isn't the saint as many of you thought.

Who is a saint? No one. Messi just happens to be a likable person. Someone I'd love to drink a beer with, or just chill. He looks like he is laid back. That is why he is likable.

It is easy to stay happy when you are always scoring and winning right? :) Messi just made a stupid mistake. No fuss should be made. Pepe talking sense into him was hilarious.

Well I enjoyed the game. The intensity made it awesome. Barcelona played their game and Real played the only way they can to stop it. I can't critisize Mourinho on that. He didn't want to be trashed again. Playing Pepe in midfield was a very good choice. He intercepted a LOT of passes and was a big physical presence on the Barcelona players. Very good display. I was actually really impressed by Iniesta's ability to hold the ball while being pressured by big guys like Pepe and Khedira at the same time. What a joy to watch.

The ref did a good game apart from 2 incidents IMO. Villa should have had a clear penalty no doubt about that and Alves should have been sent off. I can't beleive he went critisizing the ref after the game. From the ref's angle, he clearly landed on Marcelo's ankle. Be happy you are gonna play the final.
