FC Barcelona Thread

Yes he played poorly for his standards, only one goal and no assists... The rest of the teams may start to tremble if he decides to get on his peek again soon...

Wow, how amazing. They did it again. They're my heroes.

We all know spanish sport press is shit, biased and only an idiot would read/believe them. But seems that Barcelona latest triumphs are upsetting some people in the capital. It's been a while now that MARCA and AS always try to perceive reality in a very strange way. "Villaratos" and other campaigns proved to be ineffective. So now, in their effort to fight reality beyond what anyboy else has... they simply change reality!

Watch for yourself, it's totally amazing.

AS
In their way to show that Alves was offside in the first Barcelona goal yesterday, in the printed edition they decided to use photoshop and ERASE one of the Bilbao defenders, just to make things easier. Really, that bad.

People reaction has grown so quickly that they had to apologize in their own web:
http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/pedimos-disculpas-error-infografia-1-0/20110221dasdasftb_3/Tes

They say it's an "infography" error. Laughable. Last time I checked, you had to use Photoshop in a very intentional way to ERASE a player from a picture...

MARCA
But AS is not alone in their crusade! Misteriously, the same picture in the Marca printed edition shows the grass without any of the horizontal lines of the pitch, and combines a left part of the photo (where xavi has already done the pass) with a later right part of the video sequence where Alves seems undoubtedly offside...

Great done lads, keep the hard work! Always leading the way in terms of journalism!

PS: Personally, I think Alves was slightly offside anyway, so it was not necessary to do all this ashaming acts. But they should also talk about the 2 clear penalties that the referee decided not to award to us! Referee did reasonably well in a difficult match and we deservedly won.

WTF? They can photoshop things just like that!? Do they think people are stupid? Remember the photoshop of Kaka and the Madrid jersey? Milan sued them and won, and Marca had to pay damages to MIlan. Fucking assholes.

That is insane...

Alves is best right back in world.

edit: that´s a clear offside

Bilbao had a offside call taken back (clearly was onside) which could of let them score imo . I saw the Messi take down in the box about 10x I still don`t get how that wasn`t a pen.

Barca players looked jaded, gies the lads a rest!

And Pique could have been sent off at one point. The referee messed up a lot yesterday.

I was looking at Messi's stats and he has already featured 37 games this season with Barcelona and 53 the last one. That is not including the WC and the international frendlies where he full played full 90 minutes in all of them. How does he keep this up is just amazing. Even when the match is not important, the fans ask Guardiola to put him.

Yes, players look tired, let's hope they can properly rest this week. The refs had some errors, for both teams (there was also a legal play by Villa that was whistled offside in the same terms as the one by Toquero), but no way in earth Bilbao deserved even a point. 15 barcelona chances against 2! As in the game in the Emirates, our main problem was not scoring our chances.

About the Photoshop by AS, it's getting quite fun here in Spain by the hour, as some media are making laughs about it. Let's hope someone looses his job for it. It's the most stupid case of press manipulation I've seen in Sports press. It's just a lot of fun to read the excuses they put. Good lord...

Interesting tactics by Guardiola last night. Started with what looked like a 3-5-2.

Could've had the game out of sight if Messi hadn't been so wasteful. But thought Valencia played well, their midfield especially, Xavi and Iniesta didn't stand out as much as usual thanks in part to Valencia's Argentinian midfield duo.

The bad thing: Messi wasting so many chances lately.
The good thing: Can't imagine what will happen when he recovers his usual form. He's just the best player ever. When we were playing badly, he did everything by himself and decided the match.

He suffers from disc. He's improving and the medics say there's a good possibility he'll attend today's match.

Confirmed line up against Zaragoza.

--------Valdés-------
Alves-Piqué-Milito-Maxwell
------Mascherano-------
-----Xavi------Keita-----
---Pedro--Messi--Bojan---

Rest for Abidal, Iniesta, Busquets and Villa.

What a waste of time when Bojan is in the pitch. This kid will never be good enough for us, we should let him go this summer and promote any other youth guy with a brighter future.

Keita scored 2 (one was wrongly disallowed), but overall the team gets slow and unbalanced (his flank never attacks) whenever he plays. I really think Afellay sohuld be playing, and I don't get why he's not having minutes.

Mascherano did a great match, but what worries me is the low form of Messi. He tried and he did the assist, but he seemed to play at low-speed the whole match, trying over-complicated plays everytime. We need him in his prime for tuesday, and we really need to start finishing our chances.

It's fun, besides being the 2 teams that practice the best football in my oppinion, Arsenal and Barcelona may be the teams that waste more chances in the world.

I don't know mate. Without Piquè and Puyol, it can be really tricky for Barcelona. Probably Busquets might play with Abidal at CB.

I think at the very least Arsenal will go through on away goals, with both Pique and especially Puyol unavailable.

Abidal its Barça's best CB in the last month, he is awesome. Arsenal won't cross his half pitch if we do the things right. Last season we crush them 4-1 with Márquez - Milito.
