Evo-Web is 20 Years Old!

What a sad Birthday all the best goes to Christian Eriksen!😢😲🇩🇰
Glad he's out of danger. I'm a bit concerned about what this will mean for his career (Casillas anyone?) but I'm bloody grateful he's still alive. Such a scary moment. 🥴

Aaaand... Congrats Evo-Web for your first 20 years, hoping there'll be many more of these!
Thanks to everyone involved in running this little (well, not so little) virtual place I call home (at least virtually, it's not that I'm phisically living in the server room of evoweb's hosting or at @Mart's). 🥂🥧

Cheers you guys, thanks for sticking with us! Here's to the next 20! 💋💙

Hey guys, just tell me who created this masterpiece forum before 20 years? And how you guys (staffs) met together and being a modding community for long? Should be nice experience. Huge! :WORSHIP:
This site is the spiritual successor of showusmiracle.com which hosted option files and goal replays back in the very early 2000's, so it's always been focused on editing. I started as regular modder creating menu music patches on PS2 and then got part of a bunch of very awesome people who created the very first iterations of the infamous Evo-Web Option Files. tl;dr: It's all @Mart 's fault.

So Nice. Awesome Journey isn't it?

It's not all my fault! I didn't come onboard until 2002 and it was later that year I think that I helped out with some hosting for the previous admin, Alex, then he gradually stepped away. Chris (CW) was here at the start and says earlier in this very thread it was October 2001. So, I've done some digging:

The first reference in the web archive to Evo-Web at the previous domain evo-web.co.uk is 27 November 2001: https://web.archive.org/web/20011127185621/http://www.evo-web.co.uk/

However, the evo-web.co.uk domain was registered on 1st October 2001 and CW joined the forum on 6 October 2001.

The forums link was crawled on 5 November 2001 and it was called Evo-Web then:
https://web.archive.org/web/2001110...er.f2s.com:80/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi

A review of the first Pro Evo on PS2:
https://web.archive.org/web/2002022...eb.co.uk/game.proevolutionsoccer.review.shtml

Digging further (as I do), the forums used to be hosted here, which brings us to early June 2001, however, it's not yet using Evo-Web as a name: https://web.archive.org/web/20010627010622/http://www.socketmonster.f2s.com/ and the front page of that site: https://web.archive.org/web/20010604034836/http://www.violated.co.uk/evolution/index.html

So I think it's fair to call 6th October 2001 Evo-Web's birthday but we should all celebrate from June onwards as we are.

Incidentally, Show Us Miracle came along in 2002: http://web.archive.org/web/20020515155933/http://www.showusmiracle.com/ (I still have the goals somewhere)

I particularly enjoy reading reviews.. will definitely look into this. Interesting :TU:

@Mart & Staff:

hey, is it possible to add more filter options (like sorted by reg. date, by birth date, home location, fav. club, ...) to the Members Section of this board!?

it's really odd to sometimes just contemplate the things I#ve done over the course of 18 years since I joined here...and vividly remembering so many things I wrote here or found or just saw & was amazed by.

- all the fantastic kits for the likes of pes 3 to all the later games
- the new kits thread which was basically my most important read of the day & I completely immersed myself in finding out about new kits all over the internet. finding something first and posting it gave teenage me quite the rush
- I sometimes completely forget how I created several stadiums and don't really remember if I ever released any of them...craven cottage I think never got finished, must have been around 2006 or 2007

34 years old me of today, as a dad with a steady job, a house and a wife - what a journey. and I am still coming by here every now and then just to check on things. and I still wish for the glory days of we8le to return.

Happy belated birthday Evo-Web, a fine site indeed.

I was a member of ISS Extreme forums back in 2002-2003 ish, who remembers that place?

I also frequented WENB but didn’t really like the overly serious crowd, PES Fan was very good too.

I remember ISS Extreme! I was big into PES Insight then PES Fan. Here mainly seemed about patching and modding, which I wasn't in to.

I'd dropped out of the scene by the time WENB hit. Sounds like a bit of a shitshow from what I've read.

WENB was…yes, I will just say - criticism of PES wasn’t welcome at times. This resulted in Konami appointing one of the site’s members in a crucial role and the rest is history. PES only ever wanted and needed people shouting how “the KING IS BACK!” from the rooftops. If you toed the line you could end up with a plum job at Konami and fly around the world promoting video games so you can’t blame them I guess.

I wasn’t into modding either, I’m still not although I respect the guys who pour hours of their spare time into it so we can all enjoy their work.

I remember PES Insight! PES Fan was also a great place to chat about the game. Another good forum was Only Pro Evolutions although it was pretty quiet most of the time.

20 years, really?! This site lead to many friendships over the years and though I have been largely absent for the most part I am still alive and kicking

Happy 20th!

I sold the car to the left in 2013, and informed the forum when I had my first child in 2002. I've now got 3 kids, and a puppy! And I'm still an Air Traffic Controller!

And I still occasionally play WE2002 on PS1 via RetroArch, although my 12yo son thinks the graphics are rubbish! Unbelievably, there are still people modding that game!!

Happy birthday EvoWeb! :WASTED:

I registered here around 10 years ago, but I didn't never comment or enter hahaha basically, because I didn't speak or write in English. Now I'm learned (some haha) English, and here I am haha. I feel like a new user (?

No, thank you! Thanks to you I've enjoyed far more games than might be expected without having to wade through Japanese textbooks!

Ever think about getting back in the saddle? J.League Winning Eleven 2008 is calling. 😄
didn't do that one? ... hmm cant remember. let me check
EDIT: i did that one. Let me know of you need it.
