English Premier League thread

That is a pretty good effort Pipa. My team would be looking almost the same. I wouldn't include Rooney and put Ozil in his place. And i would also include Fernandinho.

I'd put Bane as RB, also might add Begovic and Townsend. That midfield doesn't look secure TBH, I agree with Gerd regarding Fernandinho.

I'm a Spurs fan, but i would never put Townsend in that team, for me he isn't even aregular first team player with Spurs. Too selfish. And if you know that he only scored once...

If we're talking about the whole 2013 year, he's been impressive with both QPR and Tottenham, he might been inconsistent, but so were Hazard and Özil.

to be honest, even as Liverpool supporter i must admit Rooney is main reason that United get the points they do atm... he is a true world class player..

Ozil for me didn´t show up why Arsenal payed 50 mil. for him... Yes he makes other play good around him, but in biger games he went missing so far...maybe it will chainge but imo Arsenal doesn´t rely on Ozil as much as United rely on Rooney.. that´s why i put him there.

2013 Calender year:

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

--------------------Begovic--------------------

Zabaleta--Kompany---Mertesacker--Baines

---------------Yaya------Carrick--------------

----------------------Bale-----------------------

----------Aguero---RVP---Suarez--------

Bale may have left in the summer but he was so good he should be in there

Wenger has had an excellent 2013 record but Rodger's 2013 record is excellent also and has been accomplished with a weaker squad. He's really transforming Liverpool into a quality team.

Mata should really be staking a claim for this team but unfortunately Mo' has had other ideas.

2013/2014 season midway point:

Manager: David Moy... Arsene Wenger

---------------------De Gea---------------------

Coleman--Mertasacker--Terry----Gibbs

------Ramsay--Fernandinho--Yaya--------

--------------------Rooney----------------------

--------------Aguero---Suarez-------------

This team pretty much picked itself. The only difficulty was picking the LB. Could have easily gone with Shaw, Baines (injuries) or the other Everton LB (name escapes me atm). Others like Jagiekla, Kompany (injuries),Koscielny, Lovren, Sagna, Henderson, Tiote, Cabaye, Lallana, Navas, Nasri, Silva (injuries), Hazard have played well also but just miss out, imo. Ozil started off well but hasn't been seen for a few months. RVP has scored goals but has been injured a lot and has not looked sharp lately when picked. Giroud deserves a mention for his tireless work and of course there's Januzaj and Barkley who look real talents

To be fair to Rooney this season he has the second most assists+goals behind Suarez in the league - he's incredibly productive. Doesn't make it look as good as Ozil, but he's been more effective in a worse team.

That's hilarious - Southampton complained that Clattenburg 'abused' Adam Lallana in their recent match, and actually filed a formal complaint.

What did he say? What could be so offense that the club went down that road? Was it somehow racial? SCANDAL!

No, in response to Lallana continually getting in his face demanding free kicks, Clattenberg said: "you’re very different now you have played for England, you never used to be like this."

The FA should fine Saints for being f*cking stupid imo.

Premier League bookings for simulation (from August 2008)

Daniel Sturridge - 2

lol bale still way out in the lead..

Suarez and Young have got away with quite a lot of simulation since that stat was recorded. They should be closer up there, if not ahead of Bale.

Stevie G and his famous starfish flop were commonly sighted throughout 2008/09 and no Drogba on there is strange given his antics over the years.

Januzaj needs to cut it out of his game or he'll gain a reputation that will bite him in the backside when he is actually fouled and doesn't get an important decision.

You are obsessed with diving.

ok thx info..
but imo diving is shit and the players who dive aint getting punished enough. i think players who dive should get straight red cards and then you'l see players stop diving, diving is corrupting the game even more than it already is..

Birmingham or Bristol Rovers or Crawley v Man Utd or Swansea

at home to swansea then, not a bad draw..

I can't argue that it is corrupting the game, not quite sure if a red card is the solution...
Football should implement what already exists in ice hockey and handball: a sending off for a couple of minutes. This could well be a good punishment for diving.

And if it's a dive that resulted in an opponent's sending off, then the diver should get bans for two matches.

guys on US how to follow EPL? I thought yankees invest much and EPL should be free but seems its not!?

Nothing is free here. You need to have an active television subscription with one of the major providers in order to watch both live matches or replays of them. I know you only wanted to know about EPL matches, but I thought it would be helpful for anyone else trying to figure out where to get their fútbol fix in the US to give a more thorough rundown of what is available to them:
  • ABC: 2014 FIFA World Cup
  • beIN Sport: Carling Cup, Copa del Rey, Italian Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, Sky Bet Championship
  • ESPN, ESPN2: 2014 FIFA World Cup, Major League Soccer, Major League Soccer Playoffs, US Men's and Women's National Team
  • Fox Sports 1: Capital One Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, English Supporter's Shield, Sky Bet Championship, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Champions League
  • GolTV: Argentinian Torneo Inicial and Final, Brazilian Série A, Eredivisie, German Bundesliga, German Super Cup, Ascenso MX Apertura and Clausura, Uruguayan Primera División
  • NBC, NBC Live Extra, NBC Sports Network: English Premier League, Major League Soccer, Major League Soccer Playoffs, US Men's and Women's National Team
  • WatchESPN: 2014 FIFA World Cup, 2016 UEFA European Championship Qualifiers, Brazilian Série A (Spanish only), DFB Pokal, Eredivisie, Liga MX Apertura and Clausura (Spanish only), UEFA Europa League (Spanish only), replays of any games shown on either ESPN or ESPN2
If you are currently looking for television subscription, DO NOT sign up for service with Time Warner Cable. I would recommend going with AT&T U-verse or DIRECTV and ordering their soccer package. That is the only way you'll be able to access the channels listed above. You could also get a basic package and then add those channels, but I'm not sure if that would be as cost-effective as purchasing a soccer package.

I can't wait for Fox to lose the right to broadcast the Champions League here. I know that they just won the rights to broadcast matches through 2015, but I'm optimistic that losing the right to broadcast EPL matches for the foreseeable future will be the ultimate nail in the coffin for them. Also, I cannot stand listening to Eric Wynalda.

Notice Richard Keys & Andy Gray on BeinSports? They were great on Fox during the WC10. I wish NBC Sports picked them up. I'm not sure how Rebecca would enjoy all the smashing doors :) they would be a hit!

thank you for info guys , I will see but im not going to pay that much for tv , im not a tv guy and for football I think I'll keep using SOPCAST ... at least for now I'll see later !

What a strike by Tiote...

It's incredible how the refs could even think about ruling out the goal, that's just shocking refereeing...

Not sure this fits here, but since AVB's just "left" the EPL I'll just report it here.

Just watched him live on beIN sports saying he doesn't mind going anywhere but he has plans to go to Brasil to work with raw upcoming talents.
