eFootball PES 2020 Discussion Thread (PS4/Xbox One)

What is the difference between Man Marking and Track Back? Both abilities seem similar in their description.

I am trying to decide which ability is best for a The Destroyer Central Midfielder like Zobnin.

Tracking back covers an out of place team mates position, for example if a fullback makes an attacking forward run, the wideman may track back to cover his position. It is not specific man marking, just closing the gap and covering for an out of position player.

I WON A PENALTY!!!!!!!

After 117 competitive games and countless practice matches I won my first ever penalty in PES2020!

And it was a beauty. The keeper came crashing into my striker who moved the ball just in time. I haven't won a penalty like that since about 2010!

And then my striker (Kean), got up, dusted himself off, took the penalty and........straight down the middle and........missed......(it went straight over!).

Hi.....larious.....

But seriously that's bad. 117 competitive matches????

I WON A PENALTY!!!!!!!

Wooooooooo.

Now new challenge for you. Win a penalty with a dive. Because i think that actually happened last night against me. That would the first time I've seen a dive result in a penalty.

I'll try to remember to upload the clip after work

There were games where I was up and I tried tricks and dives to win penalties to no avail.

I'm winning enough free kicks but in the box I get nothing.

I'll try some more dives and see how I go.

I recovered Ansu Fati on PS4 by natural means, no pc tools involved. If anyone is interested, here is the .ted file. It must be imported over vanilla Melbourne Vicotry on AFC. Ask me if anyone is interested on instructions. I can do the same if anyone is missing players like VAN PERISE, A. ROBBEN etc, or explain how you can do it.

Hitman recently also mentioned having auto-feint on helped. haven't tried it myself but it might be the thing you need.

I think it helps but that one was auto faint off and use of super cancel to shift quickly, there's no doubt it's hard but the right player moving the ball quick can win one , I've had 4 post patch

A tale of 2 penalties

Is this a dive? Because the animation is similar to the dive animation I've seen before. And the commentary makes it sound like it was a dive. If so, that would be the first time I have ever seen a pen awarded for a dive. Ball don't lie though.

Shot fake + Burnley's thuggish defending style = penalty every single time.

I mean it when I say thuggish defending. The real Dyche would be proud.

One note about the Burnley match. It was remarkably strange. At half time, it was 2-2. Burnley scored both goals on just 2 shots. It was feeling like one of those matches. And then all of a sudden it wasn't. It was 3-2 in the 64th minute. And then I don't what happened to Burnley after that because it finished 7-2. We finished the match with 24 shots. Half of them were in the last 20 minutes of the match. It was bizarre.

Sorry one last thing. This is a question I've had for the last 3 or so years and I just keep forgetting to bring; why in the world are there no trophies in the league title celebration cutscene in ML? In fact I think most of the competitions in ML don't have a trophy present in the celebration cutscene. I wonder why they decided to leave that out.

Because I see my player taking a selfie with Pogba and Bruno. So they put cellphones in but not the trophy? I feel like trophies are a tad more important.

I just won a long season with my favorite team. It would be nice to see my team lifting a trophy.

Random observation I had after watching some Xabi Alonso pinging long balls highlights on YouTube :

the Inspire system is a really great innovation to the game that (maybe?) goes overlooked. Especially the long pass one, which in my opinion is the most noticeable and effective. Picking up the ball deep with a guy with 2 star inspire long pass is a joy seeing the front players immediately looking to peel off and break the offside trap. It really allows you to play those Xabi and Pirlo cross field weighted passes that look absolutely beautiful. PES really nailed the feeling of long balls in recent years.

I hope they continue to build upon the inspire system because I think it has the potential to add enormous amounts of player individuality.

I absolutely love that part of the game! Not especially the inspire feature but the long passes itself, weight, arc, speed, that animation releasing it... lovely looking stuff indeed.
Wish we had a decent AI in 2020 (i am talking console version here). I might even ignore that open midfield...
sad it is, the state PES is in. Sad and unnecessary!

Edit: found that tutorial this morning.

Again, use sprint wisely! ...and have a great weekend. :BYE:

When will the next DataPack (and patch) arrive?! Any rough dates?!

konami goons are probably wondering whether their annual plan of breaking the game with the final patch is going to a wise thing this year - what they dish out could possibly be what people ae going to be playing for another year.

IMO next update ought to give us flexibility to go back to any previous DP. [Adam Bhatti and co - if you're reading give me option to revert to 1.4 please on console]

without sliders like FIFA (and the recent put-controller-down-and-AI-does nothing revelation) this is the very least konami can do.

Was calling them goons really necessary?

2017 and 2018 play just fine after their final patches.

Adding the option to go back to different versions might not be as simple as you think it is so i wouldn't just assume it's something they can simply implement in a patch at least quickly.

As for whether or not a new game will come out at the end of the year, I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least an update to the current one let alone a full release. And that's across sports gaming in general.

And given the increase in demand for gaming overall there's even more incentive to put out a new release in some shape or form. So we'll see.

Most of the complains about PES comes from old players who were too accustomed to the way the game used to play. New* players like myself find the game beautiful and fun. And in console I only play Be A Legend mode (or whatever its name is in english) and it's helping me to overcome my sunday league withdrawal :-). I do really dislike scripting, even in local games sometimes is too evident.

I evaluated if getting Fifa or PES. FIFA didn't appeal to me, the players move like cartoons and the ball has very special physical properties. It looks beautiful, tho.

Most players seem to think Konami is this bunch of evil guys plotting how to ruin things and make people miserable. Since I know how software development works, I think they are a great team and fans of the game. But it's hard to innovate without breaking a few things, and I think stuff like AI are not easy. Also re: patches, boy, rolling back something is *not* easy. There are literally thousands of work items in each of one patches.

(*The first game I bought with my own hard earned cash was Fifa 97. It was great. Then I switched to Winning Eleven for a couple of years. Yes, that's about 20 years. Now you kids get off my lawn.)

Hi all,

Really hoping someone might be able to help me out with two quick questions. Switched over to PES from FIFA to give it a try, and can't get my head around two things:

Firstly, how do you acquire 'legends' in this game? If I wanted to get Nakamura (for example) in myClub online mode, what do I need to do?

Secondly, what is the most popular co-op online mode? I have been playing with my bro doing online divisions (playing on different consoles), where it takes half of myClub team, and half of his. Is this mode worthwhile, or is there something better out there?

Would really appreciate any help, thanks

For your first question, regarding ONLINE mode legends, you must roll spins to the loot boxes , when they are included.

Most of the complains about PES comes from old players who were too accustomed to the way the game used to play.

That's a generalization that i don't find to be true. A lot of the biggest complaints are about the flaws with the game such as the AI behavior and the lack of depth in offline modes.

It doesn't matter what a player is used to. Flaws are still flaws. And PES is full of them.

you say that going back to different versions can be difficult - they don't even have to do that - just make it easier to keep our games from automatically updating - i'd be happy with simply that.

also my use of the term "konami goon" is necessary. for a game I used to play day and night back (cos I had faith in PES) back in 2015 and now hardly playing at all due to things like
- MyClub's addictive elements
- dropping a demo that played nothing like initial release
- dropping a patch that was actually good (1.4) and then removing it
- other craps
I think I'm good to picture a bunch of goons at konami.

this was the scene at konami HQ just before they dealt with the guy who released patch 1.4 :

I think most complaints are for staff that used to work properly and was broken or removed for no obvious reason, or for staff that was not delivered in the way it was promised or showcased by the devs.

EDIT: wrong call, wanted to quote @leus

I'm saying implementing a feature that allows to play on whatever patch set you want to may not be some 5 minute implement. And even if they allowed us to keep our games from updating automatically, how would that help you now? If that was implemented today, you still wouldn't be able to go back to dp4. It just means you don't have to go to the next one.

If you honestly feel the need to insult them, then you're better off doing something else entirely. Why would you ever associate yourself with a product if you openly question the competency of those who make it?

Wanna take issue with the state of the game? Fair enough. But that can be done without the insults. At the end of the day the members of the dev team are just employees doing the job they're told to do. The biggest culprit behind the state of the game, and sports gaming in general today, are the executives of Konami and of gaming.

Oh there are valid reasons why things are broken or were removed. It's inevitable when you change engines or consoles. The issue is why they were never then prioritized enough to bring them back to their former quality.

There is no good co-op mode.

MyClub is full (and I mean 99%+) of teams where every player is 90+ rated - Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona etc... All leveled up beyond their already ridiculous base stats. All games are 100mph PA3 ping pong nonsense.

If you think you can escape that by playing the normal non-MyClub co-op mode... Nope! It puts you up against MyClub teams anyway... Even using Liverpool, City or Barca feels like you are controlling Grimsby against those ridiculous teams.

Not only that - they also allow people to play the 3v3 "co-op" modes on their own, with 2 CPU "partners" so you're basically just playing against the AI. This can be combined with the opponent being in a different continent with 2 seconds input lag, but of course the CPU players are not affected by it so you lose.

So yeah, fucking brilliant online co-op play in this game.

okay. bye.

I remove it and install again. Then i start playing straight disc versio 1.00 it's much way better than 6.0. That new patch 6.0 kills the game :( I can't install any patch now, but so what, game it's much better now :D
