The demo released after Store refresh hours both years, but the fullgame unlocked at 00:00:00 utc indeed last year.
Hopefully that will be the case, otherwise its a gnarly 18/19 hours wait over the rest

I think adam bhatti or whoever from the konami once said they have no influence on steam hence they couldn't control when to release
its all up to steam and no way steam will mess up countdown

Just CD key region limitations and stuff like that

EDIT : They really have the full ability to set the game to live themselves, I also know someone that has his game on steam. You get that control, you only need to wait for steam store refresh when you want to ADD your game to the steam store. So even games that are announced and come out in like 1 year. But when you are on the steam store they are free to upload branches whenever they want and make them public. As steamdb states, they just kept their page on pre-release state for now. Would really be a shame if it unlocks on the store refresh hours :(

Thats why lots of PC games also push out updates way earlier btw. Because they dont have to go through a certification process like Consoles have too.

They also don't seem to know a lot about steam anyways as they almost never use the announcement system under their games (If they put all their weekly updates info on there its way easier to find for every casual player) etc etc

your could get the game now....use vpn server, connect to one in New Zealand, start steam again, should unlock the game and click on download.
Then quit the download and disconnect to vpn server, now connect again with your old connection and the game should unlocked.
Only problem is, the New Zealand VPN is only available when you use a VPN Server you have sold :-D

Did someone actually do this? If its already unlocked in New Zealand on steam its safe to say it will unlock around midnight per region
 
Steam saying the game won’t unlock for 21 hours. I’m in Australia, it’s already the 10th/6am here so it doesn’t look like it’s region specific. Must be a worldwide steam release again.
 
Comeeee on CDKeys, don't let me down - they've always been really hot on getting keys over before launch date. A few friends have bought Gears 5 keys and they've all received their keys this afternoon/evening - and that launches tomorrow as well.
