eFootball (All Platforms)

I’d like to play this on Switch 2 but I’m not paying for so little content, hopefully they will update it with Master League but not confident about that, maybe they just rushed it out for World Cup but I’m not confident about that either.

Such a weird release with barely anything to do in it, I always thought Japanese devs had some sense of pride in their work.

I was about to download on xbox and read this.
is the tournament mode of the world cup an actual tournament you can play with a team from group stage to final?with all real players? or is there a catch?
I like eF about a year ago but ended unisntalling due to no offline modes (well I was doing kinda of a league), but watching the WC Im kinda wanting to play again
Will the WC mode end once the real tournament ends?
Only played one game in this mode yet, the thing is that is is again stuck in the online framework, so you get rewards and the game "searches for opponent" and stupid sh*t like that, then of course you can't set the game speed because it's actually an online mode although it isn't. It's just modern eFootball shenanigans. Haven't played enough to see if it has a "set points minimum to advance from group" nonsense they have done before. I think I'm likely to have a couple of goes at it though.

Thanks, if you do get some games in, let me know your thoughts on gameplay, I quite enjoyed it a year ago but the lack of progression (offline modes) made it become kinda boring, but I remember gameplay was fun for me. Wonder if anything has improved/worsened.

A.I in Kick Off is probably neck to neck with PES 2008 on PS2. On World Class level it feels like playing another human. When you press your opponent they resort to passing back to their keeper....never seen this before..like a long retraction back to the keeper....AI is miles ahead of PES 21. playing on semi assist cursor -1 gamespeed is a beauty

Big disagree (all about opinions, aye).

2008 AI is smart, there is a midfield battle. Kick Off AI is difficult (only on World Class) as it seems laser guided to equalise from kick off (maybe that’s why they named the game as such!). Three passes, goal.

I’ve mentioned in the Retro PES thread how I enjoy losing on 2008. On Kick Off it feels predetermined (like EFootball in general).

That said having looked at ISS, ISS 98 and ISS 2000 on N64 (all wonderful classics), Kick Off feels the successor to that, rather than PES. It just lacks that touch of magic and TLC, leaving a slightly bitter aftertaste as much as I try to like it.

yeh completely agree. things got stale really fast, I don't rate it highly at all. I like your comment about being a successor to ISS. The arcade nature really links back to that, it's a quick pick-up and play experience that's fun, but not for long.

So is PES 21 a fun game to play and for long ?

It's not fun to play for long only for the lack of modes, the gameplay is good enough.
Give me leagues and cups, possibly Master League, and I'm golden.

Are there any rumors or news about whether this edition is a one-time event or might become an annual release of some kind?
