eFootball (All Platforms)

I think this game is ACE..Depsite the lack of polish or optimisation. There’s just so much next level stuff here. The level of control and freedom at your disposal when you click with it is well above the curve.Contesting loose balls and the ability to remove the grid.I don’t think I’ve ever played a football game that allows you so much control on and off the ball.

I’m really suprised the more hardcore amongst us aren’t spotting the seeds here.Despite the obvious delay, response issues and bugs. There’s a very realistic game of football to be already enjoyed.

I know I’m going to get roasted for saying this and there will be plenty of pitch forks at the ready. But I believe this is going to the game everyone’s talking about in the next few months, positively.

Irespective of content and modes there’s clear signs here there aiming for something well above what we’ve experienced before.

The whole game and general mechanics are built around holding the right trigger(RT)and using the right button(RB).You have to apply a lot more more manual input when running for loose balls while defending and also when forwards are moving to receive the ball. The cpu doesn’t automatically make alot of of these commands for you hence why forwards stop and player’s freeze.

Your thank me later lads, but percervere!..

I don't think I'd go as far as you, but I think the game has potential as well. Though I'm, admittedly, less excited for it than I was for something like PES20 demo.

I fear that, like with every PES demo (which is what this is closest to), Konami's patches will largely work towards removing that potential (making the game faster, for instance).

I also suspect that awareness, collision, and physicality bugs (of which there are many) are not trivial fixes, and could take a long time. Consequently, I don't expect to see good single-player modes (or even an edit mode, which I miss badly) any time soon. As an offline-only player, this concerns me.

And I still haven't heard a good reason for removing manual runs other than "it's possibly hard to do it in mobile". If it, indeed, mobile dictating the gameplay, then my fears will have increased tenfold.

They also haven't done anything for FKs and PKs, which pisses me off a bit.

But I enjoy the game and I see the potential. Manual passing has been quite fun.

One meta-question: why are there no spaces in your posts after punctuations? Are you inserting some difference spaces that don't get rendered correctly on my end?

I must say I do agree, And I'm willing to admit that I truly shat on this before playing (well, playing the PC version which is far less nauseating than the PS4 version) and if you actually challenge yourself to find positives over the beyond well established negatives, you can really enjoy this game for what it's worth.

With the exception of removing secondary pressing, I actually think this improves drastically on PES 2021 control wise. I hated finesse dribbling with RS with a fiery passion, I hated how skills never worked or that they removed the R2 + RS knock-on... Plus it kind of brings back that old "new PES feeling" of getting used to the new feel and learning new controls that I grew up with on PES 5 and PES 2014.

It still feels like a fresh new PES experience and feels like the charm of a new PES game especially with unlocking the unlicensed teams on PC and waiting for community mods to correct them but putting up with them and using our imagination anyway.

Yes I hate that it has to happen under the guise of ruthless corporate playground of cut-throat marketing and zero appreciation for the fans that grew your product over the decades, but this isn't literally unplayable. It's dysfunctional and the way it was presented leading up to release is unforgivable though.

When I read this line, I had to scroll up and check again what thread I was in. :D

seed was planted for me years ago. I checked every day but no flower arose. Keep on watering that seed and tell me when you see first sprouts!

Why would you get roasted? It's your opinion and I have to say that I personally agree with it. I hope they will add enough content/modes to keep users engaged, especially offline.

The seeds have already sprouted. It’s already three quarters there..A little optimisation and polish and what a beautiful foliage it will have..

I think this is already superior to Pes21(on the pitch). It’s just lacking alot of spit and polish.

Games modes and amazing presentation off the pitch.Well I don’t think that’s going to happen.Unless they’ve got something there not telling us.

It’s a bit like this demo,a enigma.I thought it was a stiff,clunky,lobotomised pes 20/21..How wrong I was..

I sometimes wonder what some of you are on, because I want the same reality bending pill myself 😅
the seed was planted and the result is the few of us left still rooting for pes, moving to fifa. far too late I believe so, since konami has been taking huge stinky dumps on us for years...
To the point we can no longer smell the shit because we're covered in it but at least this year they emptied their bowels on us for free!

FIFA 21 was widely renowned as possibly the worst FIFA ever and that was only a year ago. Their glory days are still FIFA14-16 and before so it's not like if PES fans make the move they're safe from a shitshow next year. 2022 is a success for FIFA but they can ruin a franchise just as fast as Konami.

If, and that's a HUGE if, Konami do release a patch towards the end of this month and it at least makes 25% improvement (which it sounds like for the old gen and PC players, it needs to be 75% just to get it near the next gen version playability which is still randomly garbage in a dozen+ departments) then we might see some hope with the title. Personally I think, as they remove the graphical disasters in the game, etc. they'll actually make the gameplay worse because they'll start getting feedback from their tween mobile gamers who will push e$hitball towards a 2-button NES game.

I've said it before, I think the only reason they released any type of console/PC version is because they know a lot of mobile gamer kids also have consoles/laptops and those kids want the chance to keep their ultimate universal superpower team they've paid $190 for in microtransactions across all platforms to play their other little friends with the same squad lineup. Those of us who don't give a shit about the mobile 'pong with more paddles' footy game experience are plain out of luck because in no way, shape or form, did anybody in Konami design or program this game for their old console-based customers.

Here's the next step. I promise you this will happen. You've seen all the legend/icon players right now and you can add them to your Hogwarts Magical FC all-star 11, well most kids today, even if they 'like' football, have no clue who Maradona or Pele were, let alone Zidane or Iniesta. What is going to happen is, they are going to bring out say for a player like Ronaldo, 2007 Ronaldo, 2010 Ronaldo, 2014 Ronaldo, 2018 Ronaldo, 2021 Ronaldo; and you'll be able to buy them and have them all on the same team. Konami see this game as nothing more than a card collecting game where if you pay enough money, you can own all the best players and every version of them. It'll be like playing chess where every piece is a queen. The game is already drifting this direction.

The only slight breath of fresh air is that when the game is finished, now you can play against PSG in almost every game online instead of Barca!

I downloaded the Firebird 2022 patch for PES 6 last night (using the all-in-one installer so it's a piece of piss) and that game plays as well as we all remember so I'll be sticking to that and modded PES 2021 if this goes nowhere. I can't go to the other side because the only thing guaranteed there is they'll fuck it up just like Konami fucked it up here. It'll be like getting divorced for a prettier wife who puts on 50lbs within 6 months and yells at you a lot for not playing with her multiple kids!

Maybe few on this forum, yes, but I see increasingly positive opinions else where from those who gave the game a chance, and honesty I have been on this forum every single year since 2015 and not a single PES game hasn't been roasted :). It's hard to argue that this game is attractive at the moment but safe to say that the core game play, especially for an offline Manual player like me, is very appealing and a step ahead from PES 2021.

But you said this a few days ago:

I stick by that..It’s buggy, lacking a little optimisation but it’s still very smooth and polished in places. The replays are very clean as is the free-kick system..Overall it still plays a very smooth playable game of football..There’s a lot of delay..But it’s manageable.

You really have to spend a good three days of solid play with it to really click with the methodology.

I don’t really want to argue it’s case. It’s my view,I’m not alone in my thinking.I am however now looking forward to the next update and this games progress.

Is that ok?😀

I'm enjoying the game, but I don't see any evidence that positive opinion is improving other than what you'd normally expect from survivorship bias.

Konami dug themselves into a deep hole, and I think they'll have to market the hell out of future updates to get people to try it again. That, of course, assumes those updates solve the many issues at launch.

My impression is that the game largely remains a meme, and this is unlikely to change this year. Maybe next year they'll rebrand it again, which actually seems like a decent marketing move at this point.

Benchmarked the game on my pc.

Can manage 60 fps during gameplay fortunately, but cutscenes are a mess. Some gives 60 fps, others 40-45 fps and some are straight up locked 30 here.

Some time stamps

For cutscene with uncapped framerate but dropping to 40-45 fps: 1:52

Cutscene where fps straight up dropped to a locked 30: 3:38

Basically the locker room, and interview cutscenes and re-entering the match after half time gives the highest framerate.

Match intro [players entering the field for the first time] cutscenes seem to be uncapped on my end as well, but cant manage 60 fps and mostly averaging 45 fps.

Goal celebrations, foul cutscenes, replays, and all other in match camera closeups give a completely locked 30 fps.

Resolution was set to 640x480.

it's the worst rated game , Game, GAME , G.A.M.E (not football-game) on steam ever
what are you guys on?

there's only one word that can describe eFtooball 2022 and that word is "dickturd"
let's just pray that next year, same time, we don't have to use the same word for efootball 2023

Somebody cannot spot the seeds and somebody else smoked all the leaves already :P

Im willing to ask Who and where is elsewhere? WHO are the increasingly positive opinions? Can you mention 4 or 5 just as an example, because I’m really curious, honestly, so I can read them, not joking. I use to read resetera forum and I did not see that positivity.

the games have been roasted since 2008 to be honest and most of them well deserved, since they have been on a downhill since then (a few had their ups, like 2011, 2013 etc) but none of them could be called a mark in the genre like the PS1 and PS2 were. Those PS2 and PS1 games where all good, and made most of the things right (sure they had their flaws, but they were 10% or less and did never ruined the experience)
But right now, 20 years later with all technology and some more available, we have a game that is 70% bad, 30% good. This is the complete opposite of what I think we used to love PES for.
We didn’t had the licenses we didn’t had the atmosphere, but we had that gameplay, that lovely balance between arcade/sim, the fun, the Stats, that thrill that anything can happen, the variety of seeing something new after hundreds of games, the attention to detail, and that “just one more game “ feeling that at least ME never had in PS4 games.

Idk if anyone already see this or not, no BAL mode ?

Would be real funny if the completly remove it, lol.
A few years ago, I would have bitterly disappointed. But BAL mode is utterly reliant on decent team-mate AI and from 2019 onwards, the AI has been absolute garbage. And it's still the same trash in eFootball, so having a BAL mode would be pretty much redundant anyway.

This is a hilarious bug, but it also makes a mockery of any praises the game gets in the player animation/physics. One such comment a few posts down from this saying "most complex movement-animation system to date".

Yeah, so complex you can just delete the entire animation side of things and the game can still happily carry on working out all the gameplay calculations, collisions and player locomotion while the user sees this absolute nonsense.

What you see is not the actual gameplay, it's all on rails behind the scenes and you are shown some canned animations to make it look somewhat legit (despite their talk of motion matching, I see all the same Fox Engine era anims).
