Absolutely, 100%. As I said in the review, nothing will fix the robotic animations and gameplay woes so long as they're using old tech. Any monkey can make good graphics, but animations are very complicated and they need to seriously start implementing next gen science, which they haven't yet, while EA is starting to show the fruit of its hard work behind the scenes for several years.

I said we'll be blown away by the graphics they show on August 25th. Even they aren't stupid enough to show anything less than the next-gen graphics at Gamescom, especially after the disaster that was the first reveal. Now will we get this same game in Autumn? I don't know, but probably not. We'd probably have to wait for the UE5 update in Q1 2022.
 
Well @The_Knight to me physics and animations are more important than graphics. So i won't be blown away, sorry. It needs to be at least better than PES 21 in terms of motions on the pitchs (like any new game on next gen, never completely "next gen")

Gives me a fox lookalike graphics with new animations, Unreal type for them, Unreal physics and many add, and i may perhaps be blown away, at least more than just graphics. But super graphics mixed with PS3 animations.... Please, it won't blown anyone away to get super graphics if the rest don't follow, visually and technically. It will looks weird and outdated, that's all. We don't play with photographies, but with 3D models movings.

Poker is next-gen. Kimura is a next-gen person. Lyygaard shoes are next-gen. Next-gen is a next-gen thing.

And it's obviously more important to me as well. I'm perfectly fine with the look of the current modded game. It's the gameplay and animations (which aren't just cosmetic) that are in dire need for an update. I said we'll be blown away by the graphics, not 'blown away, period' or 'blown away because of the graphics'.

And yes, animations should be the #1 priority, but they take a whole lot more work than graphics, and Konami simply hasn't put in the legwork needed over the past decade, and their lack of effort will start to show over the next few years as it's rival reap the benefits of all their research.

For one thing, cut scenes don't have to play on mobile, so while you are assuming that this disparity implies that they weren't ready to present the game, it could also just be a consequence of technical constraints. I think you are vastly underestimating the retarding influence mobile crossplay will have. Do we know how many other triple A games support crossplay between consoles and mobile? The only major titles I can find are Fortnite, Minecraft and Hearthstone. I've seen people talk about Call of Duty and PUBG as other successful examples of crossplay, but that is actually not the case (with mobile). I did find it funny that there is technically mobile/PC crossplay on CoD:Mobile but you have to use a mobile emulator on your PC, so you are basically just playing the mobile version.

From what I've read the crossplay experience on Fortnite isn't even that great, and you'll typically have mobile players sticking to their own lobbies. Still, the visuals, animations and simply the format of the game in Fortnite are well suited to scaling (especially since they aren't that demanding to begin with), which is pretty much the exact opposite in football games where there is vastly more complexity all competing for hardware resources. Some people are still hanging on to the fairy tale that you can have a fully next-gen game that supports mobile crossplay, but you can't and that's why Fortnite is the only game that has implemented it. Gamescom will show us a tweaked version of New Football Game, don't say you haven't been warned.



No one, which is why it made no sense to begin with, it's never been done and it never will be done. It was just a rumour by the "insider" on Reddit that's already been debunked by Konami themsleves in the Twitter Q&A, why are people even still bringing this up?

Well if you remember PS4 vs PS3 version, it was the same with some animations removed. But i figure it out that those ones didn't influes on gameplay.

If it's to have a PS3.5 with less physics algorithm and less animations (animations related to physics > so gameplay) than in PES 2017-21 but with photorealistic graphics, it's a complete no to me. I don't care about photorealism if the rest is as bad as the beta in those terms.
Players models and size, (goals, pitch, ball) yes, reproduction of reality about those part yes, it's not graphics or texture or lighting.

Just to tell : what you're saying isn't reassuring at all. It's the opposite bro / It's like a PES 2008 with less animation than PES 6, what you're saying here. A mobile game photorealistic lol. I hope you're wrong, and we will get another experience on PS5 than on Mobile. I don't ask super next-gen, i won't repeat myself.

Good old memories where in PES SHOP you had the opportunity to unlock crazy and retro stuff with points just by playing, and now will get in the future the eFootball "store", where eventually you will need to pay 4.99 to use a team... They also stated that this will not be PAY TO WIN? I guess that's a joke, because all myClub was entirely 100% a pay to win model designed that way, and myClub was just a part of the game; but imagine how things will get now in eFootball TM, where f2p online live service is printed in its DNA...

This is false. For all there is to criticise about myClub – and there's a lot – it wasn't pay-to-win. You could easily play at levels that didn't require "superstar" players, and even if you wanted to they gave away the very best players on a regular basis. I never played 1v1 myClub mode this year, e.g., but I was given 3 versions of Messi, a Ronaldo, a Neymar, Ter Stegen (3 times), and a plethora of players I didn't care for at the very highest level. (I turned them all into trainers lol.) Not to mention a bunch of legends.

The way myClub made money was creating a sense of "I've gotta have that legend" among certain fans – like (e.g.) Scholes, Cruyff, etc. And then those players were generally locked behind the currency that you can only buy (or get given small amounts of). Likewise, they would release featured versions of players each week that saw big stat boosts, in relation to the last week of play, and those were walled off behind the paid-currency, so somebody really keen to get that version of Kane, would spend and gamble on it.

Outside of these mechanisms, there wasn't much to incentivise spending. I've played the game mode on and off since 2015 – in recent years, I find it too sweaty and I have other leagues I play in anyway – and I've never spent a penny. A lot of people who exclusively play that mode do not spend money on it.

It's still reprehensible: it's still gambling sold to children, and it still exploits the psychological frailties of those with compulsive spending habits. But it wasn't pay-to-win.

I expect that will change now, of course.
 
There is no way we gonna see some mystery PES show up behind the hill and blew us away ... not even KONAMI would be that stupid to give beta, screenshots and trailers of mobile game if they have some awesome next-gen thing ready.

You can make better graphic on PS5 than on android (like you can have better graphics on PC than PS5 thanks to mods) ... but base of the game must be mobile-android-f2p-game ... its just a fact.

There is a possibility that all the next-gen talk is all about cutscenes only. What we will get when playing on ps5 is nextgen cutscenes but same on pitch graphic/physics as last gen/mobile platform as we seen from the alpha

We'll find out. But again, there was a clear significant difference in the quality of the opening stadium scenes with the cycling weather, and the gameplay footage. Coupled with the Kimura interview about Photorealism and crowd animations, the only conclusion is that yes, they were stupid enough to hold off showing next gen footage.

there is something no one is having in consideration, regarding graphics. If this works like It works with options files, where if i have an option file with every club licensed, even if i play online i will keep seeing the kits of my option file. But the other person im playing against if they have the vanilla game they will still see man red or man blue with the default kits.

So I guess that graphically speaking no one will be downgraded since it does not make sense, and i playing on my series X should see all bells and whistles. It’s how its done on other games.

but than comes the important question, what will be scalled to the lowest denominator?
That’s what they should clarify? Are we going to have something like FIFA where the new ML animations will only feature on next gen?
Will we have dumb gameplay to match the power of the lower ones instead of having a game that will use the power of next gen to give us better AÍ, positioning, decisions, far better shooting and passing and less rails and scripting? Hope they clarify this on the 25th

We won't have something like FIFA, with certain animations limited to next-gen – that goes against the entire cross-gen, cross-play ethos. They want to create the largest player pool possible, it seems. Everything they've said so far indicates that.

Will we have dumb gameplay? Yeah, probably. You saw what the beta was like, in terms of aimless AI and ballooning ball physics.

Either way, I wouldn't expect anything to actually be clarified in the Gamescom shows. Will be more pushing the can down the road, showing off some skills in a trailer, talking a bit about "team-building" mode or something like that.
 
I suppose the burning question for me is that will next gen iterations utilise the same gameplay mechanics as the mobile games or will they be an enhanced PES 21 or indeed a completely new type of game with the new engine?

the only thing im expecting is another shitstorm to be honest. But, and there’s always a but, maybe (a big maaaayyybeee) they could come up with something at least playable, and miles better than NGF. But thats hope, which is far different from expectations.
 
So summing up as I read you, we can expect a bad game in terms of gameplay at the launch, but quite good as time passed and they start working with next game stuff and start understanding UE5 better. Maybe updates give this game more things than just better graphics and more content and enhance gameplay... Dunno.

At the end of the day, my faith is as always, with modders, that maybe can use the UE 5 to a better extent than Konami itself. Who knows, maybe even the modding community gets to learn UE so much that at the end someone decides to make for good it's own game football, though that seems quite difficult, almost impossible. And God knows I'd love to see a game born out of this community, but it really doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

Back to the discussion, the thing that worries me the most is the mobile thing, and how can that make impossible to have a game with complex animations and gameplay. I only hope that at the end they split the game in two, one more simple with crossplay with mobile, and another next-gen. If they don't do that and mobile version stops the game from being better, is going to be some big bad problem.
 
I would not expect anything next-gen while there is Android-PS5 cross-platform ...
Only real next gen is PS5-XboX-PC cross-platform only ... when that happens (if that happens) that is real next-gen.

Best case scenario (in my opinion) is in 2-3 years, but only if this android f2p ends up in disaster.

There is no next game, this will be your game for the next 7 years or so just like Rocket League. Then we will see. Giving their trackrecord dont expect any huge graphical or gameplay updates either, especially now there is no annual release anymore.
