By my understanding - anything below next gen consoles will be pes mobile

Yeah to me too, that's what i believe.
Seems they forgot how many PS4 users there is and there will be, and how hard it's to found a PS5. But it would like create 3 "differents" games, nah, not how they work.

I still believe that it won't be super next-gen. But good enough, at least PES 2021 level. And very weird on "mobile mode" except... On mobile lol.
To me, they were one year late to release something they were supposed to be.

If someone believe that there will be a between, a third "level"... It's not impossible to do, but perhaps not in their interest. I really don't know, but 3 games in one... Mobile okay, as it's a PS2.5 game but a good PS4 version, it's hard to believe. a different PS5 version seems like an obligation btw, to me, but that's my point of view. Not so much bigger than Fox PS4 2021, but with things Fox can't handle neither PS4... Very few things btw, the very limit.

They made the trailer with Messi, the very first and they were like "yeah we managed to handle Unreal on a high level of performance! We're unstoppable!" until they encounter some issues or wanted to add stuff, and open stuff related to the engine which were completely new and unknown for them.
Was harder/tooked longer than they thinked in fact. They made an Adam Bhatti at his prime trailer, with all respect i got to this guy (he isn't a bad person)

I think there's been no serious suggestion this would happen outside of the Reddit "insider" post. And then people repeating it like it was gospel. But it was one of the most implausible parts of that post. Seems much more likely that whatever the limits of the mobile on things like animations, those are the limits every platform is working with.

Not that hard to do. It's a basis for some things, with two different direction. Not that hard to downscale a full game with UE4 at least.
They dowgraded PES 2019-20 to mobile, less polygons and "articulations" and put another graphical engine over it.

There's a "IF" but they already answered a bit about the changes... But not if they did it right. The right thing you mention is simply downscaling, then there's no problem. I don't really thrust about upscaling a Mobile game personnally, never heard a things like that from whatever game, it looks far harder to me than a simple downscale.

Please bro, i know Konami does weird thing but not at that level. In fact, their F2P choice is more logical to attire people and gain more money than you think. They gotted to found a way to fight against Fifa. I'm searching, but don't see how, with their PL/Bundes/Libertadores etc. licences. And people doesn't seems to care about fake Juve etc.

It's not even about logic. The thing is: it's by far more complicated and completely insane than the opposite. But no one said "Konami always choose the easy way" because it's too positive perhaps, no? I'd say that i will wait until posting because negativity kills objectivity, and wait for the real release, i should have followed my own advice. And i think i will until know.

It's not impossible as the game will be installed on your steam folder but for free, F2P isn't the same as cloud computing/streaming like PS NOW bro.
There will be an application installed on every devices, like any other game normally.

Well having an option file doesn't means anything. But every F2P games i tried on PS4 were like full game, but digital and free.

That's not possible to know right now. I'm theory UE4 is much more modable than Fox Engine, and in theory again, should be easy for any UE4 programmer to dig a bit further in game files, but... The concept of game as service might be a problem. It wasn't in games like EA's NFS 2015 which was permanently online, with the handling mod featured by Project Unite, however the game was not free to play, and the mod didn't give you a substantial and potential advantage over other players, since the mod's handling model was slower than base game when you managed to control it properly (it got rid of drift boost, and other things of the base game that boosted speed but made the car more uncontrollable) so technically I guess it wasn't considered as a cheat. Besides, when it came out, the game was already out of EA's scope for being outdated, and it actually game a second Life to a game that was already dying.

However, mods for new eFootball are a different thing, since they might actually boost the player that has them, and the game is new, and will be off for cheaters. A different thing is a mod that affects only game va com, as it happened with last mods, or that doesn't lets you use them online. It is all to be seen, tbh.

It can't and it won't, anyone still hanging on to that idea like @vialli82 is just lying to themselves. The funny thing is Konami have even told us what the next-gen differences will be: motion blur, spectator movement etc. And those differences may not even be there by release. This is some next-level cope when people are ignoring the words of the actual producer in favor of a Reddit LARPer. 🤦‍♂️

Let's be honest, the footage in that trailer was the absolute best they could come up with at the time, they've struggled to rebuild the game in Unreal, most likely due to the incompetence and skills shortage that Kojima described back when they were struggling to get to grips with Fox Engine, exacerbated even further by resource cuts and the constraints of mobile crossplay. Still believing there is a secret next-gen version is approaching flat earth theory levels of delusion at this point.

For you it's totally impossible and we will get a Mobile game on PS5. To me it's totally impossible to release a Mobile game on PS5, especially when there's PES 2015-2021 behind this. There no "secret version", no one has talked about it, don't invent stuff please. Just something which not on the trailer showing what everything EDIT typing error/ *showing what everyone will play (except the one will check "no") : a cross-plateform game on the trailer.

So i seriously not hoping something new, as i'm not tired of current gen. Plus i got tons of games i didn't finished. Hey I'm not doubting that I'll be wowed on August 25th. I'm sure the next-gen version will look stunning. But any monkey company can make good graphics. Rush Football makes great graphics. Nowadays, an AI can replace game assets with realistic assets in a push of a button without any human artists involved. I think you're referring to a tweet that I previously asked you about. It confused me back then, because it sounded exactly like Reddit insider larper guy, the content of it. When you or someone else linked to it, it was a tweet thread which had screenshotted the Reddit post and put that up there for Twitter users.

So:

1. I think we're talking about the same thing
2. There's no evidence that it's reliable – and actually, the more Kimura has said, the more contradictions have already been seen in the text:
   • e.g., the claim that PC will be last-gen equivalent at launch, unlike PS5/XSX;
   • or that graphics will be scaled on the same device – so a PS5 user's graphics are scaled down when playing vs mobile; and

I also pointed out that the only source on which people have so far based this idea is the Reddit larper guy, or those who are themselves simply repeating his claims. The source you're pointing to on Twitter, I am fairly certain (from memory), was just another case of someone using the Reddit guy as source.

As for this argument, I have my doubts. The claim in bold I think is false. Or at least we should ask ourselves what would be being killed off in such a proposal. I think this is what would die: a hardcore player base that loves PES for its realism and its simulation potential. What would remain is a game that would still earn a lot of money through microtransactions and a very large mobile player base.

Of course, the strategy can go wrong. It's live service, and they need to make the rollout good for it to gather and maintain momentum. The gameplay or lack of content could be so bad that the console users give up, and then it moves over to mostly mobile players (wouldn't necessarily be a failure, internally).

Meanwhile, for your broader claims here, I think there's good counter-evidence. Not least that Kimura recently said he's considering having mobile players compete at offline eFootball competitive tournaments. The idea that there's another version for next-gen consoles doesn't fit very well with this sort of suggestion. There's also the fact that cross-play was the big announcement, their new and exciting (or so they think) direction.

And lastly, I just think it's very doubtful that any developer, even Konami, would want a gameplay experience that scales and changes when you play vs different devices. That would be so jarring and disorienting from a player's perspective, and again it doesn't fit well with the esports ambitions (where consistency of experience is the key thing).

I'm inclined to agree. I think we'll see on August 25th what will be the best-looking "PES" game we've ever had, with offline gameplay that at its worst will be as good as PES 2021, which is pretty good. Might even cost me less to play it this year since I'll only pay for the modes I use.

That said, this game will become irrelevant in 2-3 years with the rate FIFA has been improving, so they better start investing in the science behind next-gen sport title animations like their existence depends on it, which it will.

That’s interesting……..I’m intrigued, therefore, to understand the release of footage and information showing the potential worse looking game we’ve ever had? As for a sudden shift from awful graphics to even better than anything we have ever seen, I just can’t believe it. To be honest, the way this whole banana skin has been handled, even if it did look utterly incredible, I’ve personally lost all interest and passion for the title. Konami has treated the hardcore fan base with contempt, disregard and shown it’s hand to where the monetary priorities lie.

I also look at what they have produced so far in 2 years……based on that I can’t see them getting anywhere near the tech or science to compete with FIFA.

I've been saying it all year long: There is no future for animations in a sports title that doesn't involve machine learning. The intricacies of human body movement, its limitations and possibilities in relation to an incoming ball, a position on the pitch, the level of fatigue, other players surrounding the player, player personality, mood, and style of movement are just way too complicated for pure motion capture to generate them. So long as machine learning AI isn't used to help generate animations, movement will never be responsive enough, smooth enough, or flexible enough to make room for all those possibilities. Since EA has invested so many years of research in machine learning AI-driven animations, the movement on the FIFA games will keep on getting better and better starting with FIFA22 moving forward, while Konami will stick to their 'we've added 400 more animations this year' mentality that belongs to the 90s that won't fix the robotic and unresponsive animations but will just slightly hide them so long as the game is generating enough money.

But guess what, by the time FIFA catches up with eFootball/PES on gameplay, it will be too late for Konami and they'll do what they do best: Turn the page on another console franchise they used to own and focus on mobile.

Well...I think Machine Learning tech is on the wrong hands (EA Sports).

They want this tecnology in order to have 4.000/5.000 new animations each season with less effort/work, but they don't care about the quality and transictions of them. EA wants quantity (responsiveness) over quality. If the Machine Learning works it wouldn't allow to break the laws of physics in each movements (like we are watching in FIFA Beta). FIFA succeed with this kind of gameplay...

Maybe Hypermotion is implemented at 5%-10% in FIFA 22 and we will have a 100% Hypermotion game at FIFA 26...but EA won't follow the realism in any of their fields. We have to remember that...(as they recognized with "CDM no tracking back" in order to have fun over realism)

So...we will have to choose between less animation but better quality (old Motion Capture by Konami - Xsens) or thousands of new animations per second using Machine Learning.

Of course the perfect combo would be Konami + Machine Learning, but all we know Konami won't add it in the near future...

But really, there is nothing there. Look again. I really can't see what confidence that particular interview inspires. A better one would be the later Loadout interview, though there are also issues between the framing of what Kimura there says ("gameplay experience") and what he's actually talking about (graphics/atmosphere).

He's the series producer; I'd say he has a pretty big role in what resources go towards the offline side of the game. He has already said, in plain black and white, that he thinks playing vs the computer is "not exciting" and that the focus of eFootball is 1v1. How much plainer could it be?

If you're tired of arguing, maybe stop arguing? If you don't want people to engage with your arguments by criticising them and proposing their own, maybe don't offer new arguments in the same post that you say you're tired of it. You can't do both at the same time

I'm just saying – and showing reasons why I think this – we don't have good evidence for thinking the game will be good. Most of the evidence being proposed has big holes in it.

Well, from the feedback from both "beta test" and "trailer" that they showed there are lots of aspects that puts this new "2022 full casino version" of the game in a place without precedent:
1) there isn't PES anymore as a brand and essence for old fans (for that reason they tested the waters with myClub in the last 6 years);
2) there is an always online nasty live service situation here, and that speaks volumes;
3) there are indicators that showed a mobile strong influence to a supposed console/PC port (circle marker, graphics & cheap animation transitions, roadmaps with shinny mobile art coins in them).

Just those 3 factors can give you an ideea what kind of game they are making inclined for casual gamers and "whales", that is free, easy to install & easy to use or to play, where the gameplay will be made to spend coins to get "competitive" in their minds, and that's a turn off becase it's not related at all to our core PES franchise that isn't existing anymore.

In top of that they were adding some weird marketing to make use of some good perfume on top of their bad smelling crap (pardon my french), and with that in mind to atract new posible users. From that trailer (or whatever they call it), you can literally see stuff that they wanted to distract people to what they want:
1) they showed real picture stadiums and images (for football fans to get nostalgic) combined with few real footballers with wires talking and training, but not real gameplay footage to explain mechanics or what they've done in those last 2 years (just some prerendered scenes with bad models & animations)
2) they were getting notes in japaneese from Pique that was talking in Spanish via webcam after he was taking a good nap.
3) there were indications most of the time about their new focus and their philosphy of the game: "is for everyone" and "cross platform" showing many times the google playstore sign logo.

Knowing what they did with the Metal Gear franchise, Castlevania, butchering them like a dead horse in monetization schemes and also other good franchises, I didn't expect less from them, knowing that will be just a matter of time until they will renounce to PES as a whole because that game didn't produced BENEFIT on the offline aspects. For that reason they will introduce a game to be used by everyone online, to play it and spend coins in it when you are in the waiting room on the dentist, and eventually the most annoying thing is that the new generation of casual gamers (that are lots of them) will see it as a cool football game where they can do tricks with Neymar and they can have Messi in it, and it's cool that they can play in their beds with their android phones when at the same time they can do some tik-toks... It's a very sad era in this aspect, but it is what it is... AMEN

I just told what happened with PES 2008 PS2 vs PC/PS3. They worked on a PES6 base and created the best PES ever made on PS2, with plenty of feature who wasn't on previous games. The didn't let the ship goes down, they really worked on the "less important" version.
That's all i rapport. Do you have played PES 2008 ps2? Just try it. You'll see, it's not like on PS3, it's not exactly like PES 6.

Now, if the game is dead, well whatever.
I'm just carefull but in a relative way, everyone says "PES is dead" as it's F2P, i just said to hold on, don't kill it before knowing really what's the point of it and wait for more info.
"appeling" wasn't the word i wanted to say (my english, you know) about the Q/A Konami answered for next-gen version. What i wanted to say is "it makes sense/the Q/A was choosen so it's a sign we won't have the same version"

I'm calm you know about PES situation just because whatever happen i'm good with it. If it die and it's a complete mobile game, i won't get alternative in football game as to me the other game is already dead since some years (to me, some enjoy, good for them). But it's time to give interest to others titles i didn't, not fooballistic. And play some retro games.

And if it doesn't die (to me > a version of PES 2019-21 in better, i'm good with it, with UE4.2 to strech a bit possibilities) then it's way better, i will get my yearly football game i didn't really waited in fact. I've edited so much, even a PES 2019 campaign would be new to me.

Well, we don't know, there's hints but we don't have played it on PS5 and it's out in august. Just guys like @staffan think they know eveything and they certain that it will be a mobile game everywhere and try to convince you, i don't try to convince you, i just try to relativise and take for account what they REALLY answered about the game, what the company itself answered (but of course, you'll say it's the company so we can't give them credits, if it's an insider you'll say the same... Infernal loop i repeat)

Yes I do work for a company and I can tell you nobody will ever allocate resources for something that is not financially attractive.

What Kimura said is where he wants the game to focus. But we knows since there will be be offline, CPU, ML etc. So... He's the boss, but he didn't created the game himself, he probably didn't personnally take care of the offline stuffs, which isn't a bad thing if it makes more liberty for the offline team to make what they wants / if you see the opposite side. A bit like PES 2008 PS2 : total freedom and in fact best PES on PS2 with WE9 as an example.

Yes Kimura said it's more interesting to play against human, and the focus in online/It's been the case since a long time but he or they never said it directly. So why they will release an ML and offline mode if it's the "main interest"?

Otherwhise yes, some answers here are really childish, trollish, ffs we're all practically around 35-45, but it really doesn't looks like.
I'm never get out from the edit mode to talk PES in fact. But when i came here, it's like the end of the world game, even since PES 2017. Even the best version gets their tomatoes trown. PES is a punching ball.

But i will admit it and you could too : i got a bit less interest in football in general. So everything, even if it doesn't look appeling to me. It's just "another football game with rules and a roster without charisma".

That's a bit how i see football since some years. So a game who represent that... Well it's complicated, like a good fighting game with a not really interesting universe and no badass characters.

Now about the WENB, it's not about you, but some names i never heard off talking childish and trolling with images not funny at all. That's all, i won't never fire at argued answers or posts.

How long he is the boss? To me he just said what we knows since a long time.
But the thing is they don't say it directly, he was a bit too "enthusiast" that day but not in a good way lol. He just say what we knows already, but clearly too me.

That's why i said on the post above that it won't be change. And if you read thread from a long time : everyone played online. And everyone focused on online, saying "if PES gotted Fifa servers... I would play PES". I'll be honest, i thinked exactly like him years ago, and many people here dreamed about an "ML online" and new servers as an example.
If we played offline on for example PS3 era, it's mainly because it was unplayable, but we liked the game so we played it offline. And Fifa online. It's just a reminder of how it was really before, there's proof on old threads but it looks like people wants to change the past and said "we always liked offline offline was number one". It was by default : as online was irrelevant and we gets olders, not too much friends still got interest in PES (it was a bit Fifa or nothing).

But on the long term... Online is frustrating. It's not and won't never be like playing with two controller and friends.
Well from what i've read, if they release offline mode, that means they didn't killed offline. It's will just be "secondary/tertiary" if i may say it, like it's already since Myclub. That's all.
