eFootball (All Platforms)

It is not only lack of content but also limited time restrictions
We don’t choose what we play anymore, Konami does that for us
Also, where is the paid additional offline dlc content? It’s been 2 years now and don’t even mention a word on that in their communication nowadays (if they finally communicate something)
Even if ML comes out, it is not being said we can play a league authentically (teams, kits and correct players)
Since they are blocking and unblocking teams these days in authentic match, who says they don’t set this up for ML as well where you play offline but the league is a mix of let’s say 20 teams from different leagues… (like in PES6)
Only time will tell of course

Meh, feel this is getting a wee bit better, but not enough to hold interest due to lack of single player content.

It's not alone in inspiring such feelings when it comes to football games. Deleted the other offering off my system. Not on account of hating it but simply never wanting to play it. Only really keeping eFootball on my drive out of curiosity come each update, to be honest.

Think I've come to my end with football games. They are as well being Matrix code on display, such is my overfamiliarity with what they have to offer. Nothing has changed that much mechanically or what is demanded from a user in pretty much 25 years. I know they are bound by the actual sport which they seek to approximate but just try *something* that shakes it up a bit. Not asking for some massive barrier to entry mechanically; just some form of genuine innovation.

My biggest frustration is Konami just sitting on the PES code while I am 100% sure the community or some other company could do so much with it, especially with the advancements in AI. Sell it. Open source it. Just don't let it go to waste, depriving the world of fun, creativity and comradeship. The bigger the company, the more cynical, unfortunately.

Playiöed with pa3 and possession for the last 3 months. Got beaten up pretty good with the new version. I then against my better will tried pa1 and suddenly i dont just dominate possession i also win games . But i cant say i enjoy it that much. Feels like im cheating . Probably go back to pa3 again and get my ass beaten

PES 2020 and 2021 were “ok” games, but I will never cherish the memories with them. We never did reach the heights of PES 5 or even PES 2017 again in regards to enjoyable gameplay against interesting CPU AI.
In my opinion PES 2020 and 2021 are so overrated PES games. I believe partly because many people hated the direction eFootball is heading (and they have their valid reasons).

PES 2020 and 2021 are so on rails and restricted games. With almost no defending mechanics to speak off. Without the great PC modding (and console OFs) for them they would have been forgotten 2 months after release. Plus the fact that they became so boring since basically they were released in July. 2019.

On the other hand, something like PES 2013 was a blast since EVERY player and team play differently and have separate personally

With the game being free to play, I bib in and out of the game and stick to my modded pes21. Besides the huge delay of offline options I do find it crazy that Konami are being really controlling regarding basic options in a football game such as game length and the fact that stadiums that are in the game are only available in certain modes ( online if I’m correct ) is frankly crazy. What benefit is this to them besides directing you to a certain mode what you can play.

Well PES 2021 overrated... I would better say "not understood" by some people.
He's not overrated, just got the place he got. And got tons more variety than PES 2017 and 2013 in terms of real life physics, and the AI, whatever the variety is, is much (much) more challenging and that's what i was waiting for. I don't care about variety if there's no challenge.
PES 2017 is okay and PES 2013 too but easy when you understand the games mechanisms.

To me there's two big difference : Physics overhaul with a balance and bigger pitch. Then AI finally challenging, something i didn't get since PES 2015.
It's for me the pinnacle of PES PS4 era in EVERY department, that's what makes the AI harder to program as there's too much outcomes.

I really like PES 2017 too, but let's admit there's less variety and less algorithm in players and ball physics (the one we wanted not Hypermotion stuffs), and a smaller pitch, so more encounter between player. Simple, effective, enjoyable but not technically above PES 2021, and in the same "FOX Era".
I sincerely like both so i don't like to compare, but that's facts. PES 2017 is fun, a bit less realistic in physics but the first really entertaining version of FOX version, with PES 2021.

Challenge or variety? I would like have both but it doesn't seems doable. But i choose challenge in every ways possible than "interesting AI to watch playing but easy to counter"

PES 2021 AI may ressemble to an Esports player, but at least you don't finish 1st each year with Fulham. That's the only version where i found the game litterally hard.

Now it's a matter of feeling too : you feel or not the game.

I actually think modded PES 2021 is a brilliant game. Makes me not even think about efootball or future installments. One thing I love about it is that the gameplay and the patches are always evolving, I love the editing community around. Just one look at the available mods and there's something pretty much for every taste (PA1, FUMA). There are up to date patches, classic throwback patches, turf additions, atmosphere patches, you name it. And the editors are not resting either, they are constantly adding tweaks and improvements to the game.

Same could be said about PES 2017. Even though it is not as large, the editing community is still very active. (not to mention PES 6, 13, and other active communities!) As I speak, there is an editor making a complete South American patch for PES 2017 with pretty much all CONMEBOL leagues.. To me this is the future of football gaming for us who love PES. The editing community is doing a fantastic job, and at least personally, I will keep playing and engaging with football games for a very very long time, indefinitely, focusing on the already existing PES editions! Nothing like making ML stories, I find them so enjoyable! :TU:

it's hard to say what they have there in the Japanese studio, maybe they have a much better game, but maybe right now it's probably a very unoptimized game, a lot of bugs and other problems, and that's why they present offline mode. I'm sure they don't want to remove ML or offline mode, because it's still not such a small base at the top, they're still the only football game that mostly plays offline mode, and even in the future, no new game shows that they will have (ufl ,goals) offline mode. Their problem is communication with fans, which is really offensive

(i edited the post above)
@millossobek The main thing with those version, is i don't have that much issue which both, at least not a game changer that mess up those version.

-PES 2017 : got issue with inertia and players physics a bit simplified / when you see that the basis is PES 2014. So it make me the game easier to dribble.
Also shoot from long distance too often on target.

-PES 2021 : R2 replacement by the right stick : i ain't even sure that it bring more possibility with R2 dribbling. Second, perhaps yes, they could base their AI in another way to make it difficult than asking help from e-sports player, i agree.
Then, i see the dribbling style in EF2022 and i'm asking why they didn't added it on PES 2020 or 2021? Those games are pretty different. And i don't see the "rails" you're talking about, in comparison to tons of football games.

I add a "not gameplay" issues : too much team in database, too hard to keep "alive" on console.

Also, i wanted to post it before as a (true) joke :

>Point Goldwin on Evo-web : PES 5

There's too much things to change that i given up about that game future. Even off the pitch:
-Casino/Mobile with ads presentation and all too coloured : i tryed some days again but it was painful for my ass before starting a game
-Awful formations and tactics modification, i love to see players stats and it's became a labyrinth to do it

Now, on PS5 i found the game beautiful... Players models are better, less known players faces/not preset are better and doesn't looks like freaks.
More natural to watch on the same console than every previous PES games. Animations are okay, and dribbling pretty fun and relative to real life physics (it's linked) but the ball physics ruins everything.

I see it as a PS4 game, not a mobile one. Just dribbling, analog runs with and without the ball algorithms management with players weight+speed+stats is too much for a mobile game. Not the argument but there's others thing i can say.
I prefers it (on the pitch only) than PES 2016 or PES 2018... Even the 2015.

Edit:
But there's too much s*** around the game, their system, the service etc. makes me puke. On that side it's totally a fake "free" mobile game, that you have to brought to remove ads and all. I'm already in a bad mood when the match start.
Now, i said i prefers it to other PES (because i hate them simply but Efootball got some arguments) but one thing i can't stand is the ball physics which was THE PES speciality's and brand is completely gone.

Its actually worrying the community isnt vocal enough about the catch up bug being back after a few years…
Even in japan they're receiving the same message as we adress...
As long as that awful man Kimura who doesn't listen anyone will be on the boat wheel, no one will be listened.
Too stubborn guy. Don't search about the game issue together, but a way to fire him. Also the guys which agree with it (i sincerely don't think there's a lot of devs which agree with him on Efootball production)

Imagine the next level of realism, where you have to pay real money to sign a new player. And even player salaries have to be paid with real money on a weekly basis. Play for free, pay forever. 🤑

The most offline mode of all, still microtransactions on this. No thanks.

Whenever someone says "Exclusive information" I am more than careful ;) however if they would do microtranscations in ML it would be another nail in the coffin and be more advertisement for the competition.

We were all aware that they will includes players to buy with real money on ML (if they create it) so... Zero surprise.
That's how a F2P work. It doesn't mean that i like it but if they needs rent... Offline, that's the only way. Or creating an offline just for making people happy lol, it's a business not charity.
I and some others said it since the start. But i believe it's more to sign any player you want, like De Bruyne at Brondby.

It will depends how they will handle and manage microtransactions, for example if you're obligated to pass by it to play... It's not the case for Dreamteam.
But let's wait before yelling scandal. Well the game in that state ATM, i don't really care about offline.
Overhaul and removal of shitty stuffs and i will perhaps retry it.

I would rather pay for league and cup mode than for ML
for me it is just about the gameplay and the team's football itself, not all the drama next to the pitch

Also, league and cup mode will probably never return back
What a shame because some licences they have right now would be fun to play a league or cup mode...

Aint no way they removed league & cup mode.

But then i remember pes 2013, lol.

Im convinced if there's one mode that will be removed it's BAL. I remember durandil says BAL code were never been found in game files, but hey that was in 2021 maybe they added it now ?

Doubt that since based on new announcement BAL wasnt even mentioned 😂

Had 4 games just now on superstar. Granted I didn't score 1 goal or win any of the games.... However I actually really enjoyed myself and the challenge. Gave the ball away too much but was quite fun.

Yeah but in this statement of Konami its also very limited, League and cup mode isn’t mentioned as well here, only ML, edit mode and co op

In my personal opinion, even with the "promised" modes and additions, I am sure I will find it hard to enjoy this game with the pathetic menus, relic lighting system, dead atmosphere and mobile type environment. Yes the faces, licensed kits and animations are nice (and much nicer than FIFA) gameplay also is a plus, but these positives can really become old and boring. I have logged almost 230 hours (%99 Authentic trial match mode) on eFootball because in my opinion animations, flow and gameplay was nice from v1 and later, but now I'm already real bored to play more than 2 games in a row and I'd expect that even with the alleged paid bonuses coming in months from now.
All that if they do not update to UE5. Which I greatly doubt, given they will try their best to milk mobile users as much as they can.
