eFootball (All Platforms)

Not hating the game by any stretch now. It’s got a lot of work still to be done but 2.0 is getting there. 26 offline teams is enough for me to play occasionally now and although the game has so much going on in the menus it reminds me of a Las Vegas casino, the gameplay is much better than the FIFA 23 demo I played for a few days.

still waiting for some offline modes like a league option or something before I throw too much time into the game but it’s headed in the right direction unlike the other footy title.

this!

As you mention the menus... In my attempt at playing it yesterday, I was stunned by just how much menu lag there is. You press literally any menu option and you get something like a 0.4-0.7s delay. Incredibly frustrating. How have they STILL not optimised this? Fucking amateurs.

And to top it off, every time I returned to the main menu, this screen popped up. I'm not joking – every single time:

Maybe you're playing it wrong if you're not on mobile and don't hire a priest to help you pray before an important match:

Laughing my ass off at the fact there are still people arguing mobile has no effect on PC/console, the gameplay is practically identical right down to those god forsaken ball physics.

The net physics are better on a mobile port than on consoles/PC.

Mobile is not a port. You have to build it for mobile first because that is the lowest requirements and then you can scale up from there

I slated the early versions but I'm enjoying this one , has the old pes vibe to it and the AI plays very balanced. Needs something to do now for single players

I thought you were trolling and then I looked.

Holy shit, people truly are blaming him entirely, saying it's his fault for bringing the goalkeeper out.

I don't recognise this community any more, honestly.
I’m with you on your last point - but I would hazard a guess that the community has changed over the years. It won’t be the same crowd who loved PES when it was good.

FUT is partly to blame. It destroyed footy gaming and created a new community of immature idiots screaming “Git Gud” when you concede a goal because of bad coding.

So frustrating how fast and hard PES (eFootball) has fallen since PES 2013 and even 2014 which was a step in the right direction.

It’s a laughable mess of a game these days.

It may be regarded as the least of this games problems but what the hell possessed them to stick with the same horrendous, eye bleeding ui colour scheme from ef2022 that has been widely criticised by the community? I'm unsure if theyre just lazy, so out of touch with their player base or possibly both.

As I said earlier, it reminds me of a Las Vegas casino but one that is sponsored by the Ukraine.

Perhaps offline it does. Online is a shitfest, its so clear now that you not only buy good players for money but the scripting itself too. I have 0 chance getting to div 1 now. Which is a bit iffy just because an update came out, they screwed up the game even further. If you pay and buy 99 rated players, you are good and only skill/exploit remains to make a difference. Other than that now there is barely any chance to play smart football and win by tactics or subs or anything. Let alone doing a 4-3 comeback i posted a while ago. Game is fucked at its state as a football game.

Thats just every game with 2.0

Dont get me into match up or tackling. If its a stronger player, you just bounce off, Mbappe pushes my defender while he is also carrying the ball for a good 10-15 meters(no joke), animations cut off awkwardly here and there, intercepted balls gravitate back to the oppostion etc.

this is very much what FIFA embodies, enjoy guys
I'm surprised that you even make it into div2. That must be tough

Very true. Dream Team isn't about skill like the Mexican League Online matches are. Its all pay to win with 'scripting' kicking in hard based on team playstyle.

As I said before it so annoying and pathetic this is all Konami have focused on for this launch.

I think the level of PC players is definitely not the same compared to PS4/PS5 for example. PC is for guys like me who want to mod and play in their own time, the online PC player is usually really hardcore and they wouldn't buy a PC to play online football in a competitive manner, these hardcore gamer esport guys for sports games that aren't racing always choose consoles as its much easier to setup, no messing around with Nvidea or AMD settings, just setup and play.

I'm sure gabe.paul.logan could do well on the PS4 but he'd find that even when you get to division 4-6 you have players of the same skill who probably all in Division 1 on PC. I mean Knight is able to survive very well online on PC fully manual, I really don't' think he would on PS4/PS5 with some of the freaks I've encountered. I tried that for laughs on PS4 for 0.9.1 for a bit as the game was such a shower of shit it actually helped in some matches.

But with that in mind i hardly doubt there ever will be clubs online or national teams leagues ever. Unless it is a paid DLC. I would think they want to focus their audiance where the money is. At this state i only can compete if i buy packs/teams/etc. They really try to force it.

Re manual online. I don't know that it's that hard on console tbh. I got to D4 playing FUMA without complications, promoted every season. I stopped there because I couldn't stand the target lock errors that ruin the game on FUMA, alongside DT generally being shit and people playing it in a childish, glitchy way. Reckon I'd have held my own in D3.

One of the advantages to FUMA vs assisted players is that the player awareness of the ball is so shit, you can pass into space in ways that just confuses the opposition AI. It can also confuse the player themselves, who only ever deal with ping pong to feet.

I'm not sure what the skill differential between PC and console really is. A lot is made of it. I guess that's one good thing about crossplay eventually.

Of course, the really great thing about crossplay is that we'll get to find out whether humble mobile players have what it takes to be cross platform champions.

It boggles my mind. Nobody think it's good unless it's extremely deliberate, like some kind of artistic statement. Pro Evolution Soccer 1 even has classier, simplistic menus compared to this. with the exception of 2009, 2010 & 2014, The series always had fantastic menus... Up until 2020 by which point there was an obvious change of the guard regarding presentation and series direction, and it all seems to start with the damn menus.

The UI taken directly from mobile version for crossplay purpose. My friends play efootball mobile and they love the UI. They only play games on mobile

Interesting that the football has such a prominent shadow yet some of the players appear to have next to no shadow at all. It's almost like they're ghosts, which might explain why when you manually pass to them, the ball goes right by them as if they're not there.
The shadow issues have plagued The franchise for several years. It used to be just static objects like goalposts that had missing shadows but now players apparently .

Is it me or gameplay after latest update is getting step back? Not that the gameplay was at pes 21 level but efootball 23 is very sluggish and somehow players are unaware of things happening around them. Played few games on superstar, maybe scripting hits? Will have to try on training mode and see.
I guess it varies from match to match. There are some instances where defenders are ball watching. They can be very slow to react to the ball.

Good post. Your right about the AI being confused when you pass into space, i noticed this big time even on the dreadful 0.9.1 and offline manual vs Spuerstar.

Are you on PC or PS4.

There will be eventually, its already in the code. But they dont care which is the big issue. They know someone buying a one off DLC pack for online content for $30 then ML/BAL stuff for another $10 is nothing compared to those hardcore gamers who throw $50-$100 on new packs almost weekley.

Sadly they know where their bread is buttered.

Adapt or die.
Either you take this game as it is and is at peace with it, or you don't.
I do not see Konami going back to its old format with ML/League mode, why would they?

And if they did, remember 19-20-21 and how inferior they were gameplay wise?
Yeah they had ML etc, but where they any good?
Pes always played great in exhibition mode, or any other mode that didn't have TS.
And if Efootball would have a ML, you'd better believe they throw TS in the mix because they can't code proper ai difficulty in.

I've adapted, by going back to old but great games, my Pes 2015 ML is the best I've had in years.
I'm at peace with this

They still can offer offline and ML as service, not as owned products. So they charge for them seasonally for example.
