eFootball (All Platforms)

I don't know if they even plan to make a Master League. Just postpone it a few times and wait until they can say that there is not enough player interest for it anymore because so many are playing online. 🥰

This is what I anticipate. It's been managed decline to marginalise and dwindle the offline player base, and justify a full transition to online.

Kick off glitch is gone! Finally! Now all those CR7/Messi/Mbappé + Legends spammers are having hard time to win!
There are few new stadiums also and we now can change the ball!
Can you play games in day time yet or still only at night ?

Its too obvious kimura does not care offline and offline base players, in recent interviews he said who wants to plays again a cpu and thats was not interesting as playing against another player was more exciting, I will not be surprised if at the end they cancel ML release as they consider there are not enought offline players to release that and in terms of productions and cost is not worth it at all

Master League will come because it simply has to for generating per head lump sum revenue easily. How good Master League will be is the more valid concern.

Just shows how utterly stupid AI is in recognizing what's really going on ... Van Dijk stops marking an immediate threat to cover the runner on the left side, while the other CB sees his teammate with number 9 running towards the immediate threat and thinks "fuck that, i'm going for shish kebabs, #9 gonna cover it"
That's the "1v1 battle", the eSports-led focus they spoke of when eFootball was first announced, copying FIFA entirely.

EA and Konami are deleting all the defensive AI they can, so that nobody can cry about "AI defending" being the reason they lose. In the process, they're churning out Fortnite ripoffs.

(Only watch the above with "high quality" on or it'll look like poop. Dependent on your POV, it may look it either way.)

Excuse me while I rant. Gave the game a second chance after the update and realised online events are open.

For context (rant about the other game):

I played FUT co-op with a friend the other day, just to see if it was playable. We got beat 9-0 by a guy who had two moves:

A) Give the ball to Mo Salah - who, in FUT, glides (literally) faster than Usain Bolt on rocket-skates - while our defensive unit skipped gaily backwards, admiring the crowd and the night sky while Mo slammed the ball in from anywhere he liked, or

B) Hit through-balls from defence to attack, which were always 100% perfect, with the attacker rocketing past the defenders to collect the ball, glide up to goal to slam it in.

No passing, no midfield, no thought process, no skill. It was a torturous 20 minutes. Not because of the beating - that was always going to happen - but because it was the furthest from football FIFA has ever been.

So, I thought I'd give eFootball another chance as a palate-cleanser, and IMO it's ... essentially the same experience. Equally unplayable. Your controller input is practically meaningless, with the game massively in one player's favour from the start - either because of scripting, horrible servers / netcode, or both (and I'm convinced it's the latter because it's just as bad offline).

First game I played, I beat the guy 4-1 (it was about to be 5-1 but he rage-quit). No joke, 10% of the things my player did, I had no idea they were going to do - including, at one point, dribbling around the goal-side of a defender with a little trick to get 1-on-1 with the keeper, when I was pushing the stick in the opposite direction (and have no idea how to do tricks).

Every 2-3 passes he hit went straight to one of my players - every time I held the pressure button near him, his player would be powerless to stop me pushing him aside so I could take the ball - and it was so painfully obvious that the game was stacked against him.

Meanwhile, I'm scoring goals with no effort, knowingly deserving none of them to go in. I'm passing around him like he's not there, but not through skill - his players are so clearly making no attempt to block passes.

Had it lasted the full ten minutes, it would have finished 10-1, with the other guy severely handicapped throughout the match. If you were in his shoes, wouldn't you wonder what the point of this game is?

We live in 2022, with the most powerful gaming hardware ever made, and the most experienced and talented programmers... and we have no football games that are anything close to football. What is going on?
oh the beautifull game at its best.apparently he is a noob and you are a pro veteran and somehow the game knows it and favors you..i ve said it many years before that pes never was and it will never be a proper online game.the lads at konami lab just cant do it.i would go on a rant about this but its pointless.im just glad i never bothered to download this "new football game" and waste even a second on this sheet

So I'm not the only one whose hard drive remains unsullied by this wretched cashgrab? They will never get a +1 download stat from me so long as I still have any of my mental faculties in tact. Even if they brought me this game for entertainment in a nursing home while being fed through a tube I'd still turn it down and choose to play a game of Scrabble instead.

I think you are overestimating their will to do any actual work

I think it is more a case of maybe not having massive faith in their will to work but also noting that they can't put the toothpaste back in tube with Master League. They simply have to release a Master League now, both on account on what they have said and how vocal users have been about it.

Like I say though, how Master League turns out is another thing entirely.

They actually could get away with the botched initial release(s) of this. It wouldn't be the first game to do so if it did turn public reception to it for the better over time. However, ditching Master League would prove a step too far, particularly if such news were to come just short of a year from now. It would be one balls-up too much. The press/publicity and fan/interested consumer outcry would be something they could never ride out. Might not kill their game, but they'd lose a bunch of folks forever, bar some complete U-turn by them followed not long after by the best, most revolutionary single player football game ever produced, never mind the best Master League ever produced. Basically, the risks are too great to dick about with Master League promises now, even if that initial promise is as it is just now, which is them saying they will release it later.

I'm still enjoying this to some degree knowing what I am tolerating, along with a sizeable list of caveats, some of which detailed in this thread. Some decent reads.

I think if they can bounce back from the initial release they can bounce back from anything. The criticism of the initial release was such a big story in gaming that it infiltrated the regular news agenda. What, in comparison, is pissing off Master League fans? A mere drop in the ocean. No need to put the toothpaste back in the tube if enough people are brushing their teeth in Dream Team.

No Mans Sky a far bigger disaster than eFootball 2022's initial release. That game on it's release a far bigger letdown on account of marketing hype that Konami could only ever dream of, along with outrageous developer promises.

I'm not saying that Konami can perform a similar recovery, only that it is possible...if after one, two, maybe three key gameplay and feature updates a game has started to become something different (for the better) or closer to that promised. Unsure if Konami can or can't do that, but I'd put myself a 90+% certain a Master League will happen.

I know (and I'd tend to agree) that trying to 2nd guess Konami is quite the risk, but do think Master League will happen if only for the reason they are doubling down on saying it will be a feature after a very dodgy release. Doubled down on saying it while ever so subtly moving away from cross-play across all systems. That, for me, was all calculated.

For me, at the moment and for the short to medium term, it is all about what they can (or can't) do until then that will hold my interest...or not. I'd like proof of concept of a number of things to be shown (or even feature) before Master League releases. There is stuff they can do to cater for solo focused players in the interim. Now that I won't hold my breath for.

If it is about "no touch at all" count me in too!! 😋...

My HDD is almost full since last year, and 50GB are too valuable, to become KONAMI'S guinea pig. (Again...) :P

But must important, it was the disrespect from KONAMI ( to the customer/target group i belong, long time ML offline player) that crossed the line.

I feel so empty, no power or any mood to criticize, rant, complain, whatevs.

I am like standing in a hill, watching the fire burning the place . Like Thor watching Asgard being destroyed, in the end of Thor: Ragnarok.

Played a few games offline FUMA vs Legend AI recently, post update, and didn't mind it. Decent challenge. AI a bit cheesy (especially winning with fouls that aren't called, though I did get two penos from them), but beatable.

Ventured online tonight. Dear lord they were the worst games I've played yet. Just so many responsiveness issues. Actually felt like it's regressed. Maybe I was just unlucky, maybe server issues. But yeah... if this is how their "phase 2" online gameplay will be in general, they might actually be fucked.

I don't know about anyone else, but when i watch Chris' video i think that I would rather see the AI interract with the ball in those situations than just nothing happen. I know maybe some purists will be annoyed because it isn't purely human control, but if the ball rolls agonisingly past a defender and he sits there doing nothing, i'd rather see the AI take over and punt it out of play without any user interraction, maybe even instinctively based on player traits (ie. 'hoof' skill meaning that a player is likely just to put a foot through it to clear the ball in a loose ball situation).

I know PES has always had elements of these problems but for me that one example shows that this game is one of the most basic and worst football games in existence. If your input doesn't matter then what's the point of playing

It's definitely not the same experience online at all. They're like two different engines. Offline shows it's potential and can be kind of enjoyable, yet online resembles the floaty, latency riddled afterthought of it's mobile counterpart.

What find hardest to understand, is what all the FIFA crossover players see in this when they say it's better than EA's offering online?

I mean, sure that game has it's bullshit online too, but at least it's hyper responsive compared to this slugfest!

Offline v. Legend (I have still to go down the FUMA route with this but did so eventually for offline play in recent editions) is actually pretty decent in my opinion.

But like you say, they've pitched this as an online game primarily (at least for the foreseeable) so it is quite disastrous in that regard.

While I am not completely for what their course is with the game (putting the microtransaction stuff aside here - just talking Dream Team n' online first approach) I could see myself in a situation where I could enjoy Dream Team to kill more than a few hours here or there if there were some offline modes and content.

I mean, what difference would it make developing a team in offline modes compared to online, really?

And then I realize the answer is the same here as it is with FIFA: to steer the player to the hugely toxic, obnoxious, exploitative and tortuous online arena. Can't be having people having fun on their own terms!

No I disagree...I just call it randonmess and I like it
In Serie A I have seen sloppy goalkeeper errors with the same results
Are you ironic? I seriously can't tell. Stuff like what happens in the first video has nothing to do with randomness, it's just plain atrocious programming. The second one looks idiotic as well, keepers in rl do a lot of dumb shit from time to time but not keeping a soft ball their height kicked from the other half with no pressure at all.. I can't honestly say I remember seeing anything like that lately.

We have what we deserve, keep defending konami, keep defending all shit they are throwing over his fan base, keep defending efootball and keep buying coins, premiums packs or what ever they try to sell us
Is a fucking shame
Hey beggar can't choose. After all it's FrEe

The saddest thing about all of this is our fault our fault because waiting years for a proper football game waiting years for proper offline modes and waiting years for a new engine and supporting konami buying their games, wasting time editing them and buying coins and now we have this, this will not be never over, if we as community stop playing and buying only that time maybe we could have a proper football game if they start to work but while we still buying and buying with those microtransactions game will never be good and we will still having 5, 6, 10 minutes matches as global improvements even not mention to gameplay at all which just become trash and I am not the only one who thinks like that and I am not a hater at all but is just a shame this
