EA SPORTS FC 27

My rant has been uploaded lol

I’m the same as you really, I like the idea of the crossing, making it more about aim and power.

Losing a defender dribbling is super hard as they are so aggressive and don’t get punished with fouls for charging into the back of you.

It’s weird I am finding it hard to play but not hard to win as the AI just keeps passing about the edge of the box looking for me to make a mistake by leaving a space.

I am just watching Spurs v Aston Villa on TV. There has been 4 goals in 86 mins. All of the goals would be impossible to get in FC 27 (at least using "Authentic"). That just sums up the game for me. It is still a pass or run to the box and press the shoot button simulator.

All these changes with "authentic" and the career mode dont mean anything to me and you can get as many new people in the positions saying the right things but it is plain to see, these guys still dont understand football and cant make a compelling game.

100% Analysis correct

Tuned in for my annual EA Play trial, which has saved me a ton of money throughout the 2020s.

It's cheeks. Midfield play non-existent, constant turnovers, build up play is a complete waste of time. And this was all on authentic mode, god knows what competitive is like.

FL27 again for me this year.

Watch a real match and look for player’s “micro-adjusting” and jittering like a squirrel whose had too much coffee. You don’t see it obviously. Players do a lot of walking. So long as they’re generally in the right spot, they conserve their energy and hold their position with a walk, stand or light jog. Then watch the FC 27 highlights and you can almost see the “ideal position” indicator scurrying about. While tactically that ideal position drifts, it’s more of a large radius of “acceptable” positions and moving 1 foot to a slightly better position does not substantially improve the outcome, so players don’t do it. If they do need to adjust their position it’s usually a walk or a slight jog. In FC 27, it’s sprint-stop. Sprint-stop.

While this seems like an “animation thing,” it’s reflective of the ethos of the game. There’s no commitment to action. If a player is out of position, they should simply miss the ball, not teleport into position.

This is the biggest thing for me. There's zero jeopardy for bad decisions. You realise you've turned the wrong way, change direction immediately the the player will make some physically impossible move, with perfect control and save you.

Issue is, I watched a couple of streamers (not football game streamers) playing and they HATED authentic, "it's so slow" etc. Unfortunately nobody wants a deliberate game where you have to play proper football, read the game, make the right decisions and let animations complete before a new one registers. Well...not enough people anyway.

Problem is simply slowing the game down doesn’t fix the fundamental problem. Control and realism are at fundamental odds and FC 27 has sided with control (physics be damned). A LS press in any direction at any time resulting in the player moving that way instantly is a win for the skill-gap FUT bros, so that’s the game.

Ok I've tried the game. It's only somewhat playable on Authentic->Custom "mode" with further slider tweaks here and there and the Legacy Defending option is mandatory. So in general you need to slow down the whole thing and make it play as offense vs defense so it feels a bit like football. I'll try again with better teams and see if we can apply this pressure on D as we see it in EPL but I highly doubt it.

No I know but fixing the issues will make for a slower game too was my point, and that ain't gonna fly.

The game is a complete joke and a waste of money if you intend on playing offline, More resemblance to ice hockey than to football.

Sliders can't fix the robotic positioning of the defense and midfield, All forward runs are in a straight line and the back line is just a bank of 4 or 5 standing at the edge of their box waiting for the attack like a table football team, Resulting in a tedious cycle of identical back and forth waves of attacks.

No player individuality what so ever, Specially when applying sliders, Same touch, Same passing and shooting same positioning and runs.

All teams play the same way, And trying to use CPU sliders again will make them play the same way you chose and not react to the game or their player's abilities.

The ball is never free, Always scripted to a passing lane and the catch up bug is awful on higher difficulties.

User interface & Menus are slow and bloated, Too many extra screens and I would say more than %50 of the options are not needed in the game as they make no significant difference to the experience or just a duplicate of another option. (Why do I need 3 screens to replay a goal?)

Any good thing about the game (If any) will be gone by the 2nd patch.

Played about 8 games, not for me. Feels horrible to play.

The artificial first touch error that they’ve added is nonsensical. The more they just keep bolting stuff on to this engine the worse it’s going to get I feel. They need a massive rethink.

And I still can’t believe passes randomly being hit like a bullet is still a thing.

You can still win the ball just by walking into an attacker but now you instantly lose it because you have zero control over the ball.

I admire what they are trying to achieve but I just don’t think they are ever going to get it right with what they have currently.

Played three games on FC27 and tinkered with sliders. I am very surprised how different it is to FC26. Initial impressions:

- The three new dribbling sliders are really dope and gamechanging, not only for EA games but football games overall. On extreme values you can only turn once without losing the ball. With the sweet spot you can punish speed dribblings without losing the possibility of close control. To me, this opens a whole new level of simulation that no video game has ever touched before.

- Finally the CPU doesn't watch while you make abusive walks down the wings. This was my biggest gripe with FIFAs since the last decade. The fixed aggression levels allow you to go lower on acceleration and sprint levels, resulting in a more measured game

- more new animations than expected for typical game situations

It seems there is a lot to explore if you invest some time on it.

What are your values for dribbling?

Not really dived into authentic yet. I’ve been stuck on Ultimate team squad battles and the new single player objectives and events. It’s crazy end to end gameplay, but playing on legendary means I either get beat or win narrowly, even against low rated squads.

Might stick with it for now until we get sliders for career, definitely fun to be had.

Is anyone else really struggling to score goals and create chances against legendary AI?

No matter what I do I just can’t carve out any space or create clear cut changes. The AI swarm you. 6 games in and I’ve managed 1 goal 🤦🏻‍♂️

Lowering aggression or marking via sliders could help.

Hello mates.

I played my games in the worst conditions : connected, first day launch, the evening, pad with a drift🤣 but the game is really better than the beta.

The physicality : you have less crazy sliding tackle from behind, more little fouls. My pad have many little shaking when two players are fighting for the ball.

The Cpu behaviour : the mouvements are better too. The pressing is more natural. I love the way the CPU wants to have the ball. More shield contacts. When the CPU has a red card, you see that it changes it strategy.

The ball physics : the big surprise of this retail version. The ball is really free. No more rail effect. But because of that, sometimes there are too many strange ping-pong contacts.
The ball is heavier, I noticed that on shots and passes.

Difficulty : now legend is really strong, no more ball over the defense, you will lose the ball too often. The CPU shots many long ranges and scores ! The pressing is in every coin of the pitch, so you need to go back often.

The stamina : it's better too. You have to make change, you will see that your player will be tired.

But you right, even if the base is great, I can have a better with custom sliders.

I wanted to see first what changed between the beta and the retail game.
I'm happy to see that the FIFA team has updated some things.
You must be working for EA; it can't be true.

I would suggest one slider change for everyone and that's Jog Dribbling. Move it up to 55 just to feel the difference. The higher this value, the higher the ball will move further away from the player's body. That change alone has changed the way the CPU approaches their build up. Keep in mind that changing this value does impact the Sprint Dribbling, so the ball will be further away when sprinting too. You can scale the value down, but I highly suggest making the change. Lastly, the Controlled Sprint Dribbling works as it should, and I would highly suggest raising that value as well - I have it on 55.

Modifying those dribbling values alone will introduce a bit more calm, a bit more ball control. It seemed to have activated the errors as well. This is what I figured out in the beta and am glad it made it made its way over to the full game. There's a bit more to discover of course, but I can already see slider fatigue is setting in - so this would be my recommendation if you wanted to punch in the default authentic sliders in the custom preset, but just make those changes.

All this slider chat is exhausting, and they just add more and more options and controller settings. Remember when we all played the same game and it was just good out of the box?

No, i never got what i hoped for out of the box.

The custom camera sliders i.e. zoom, height etc are still broken. They've been this way for years where adjusting them makes no difference, and it makes you wonder what other sliders are broken.

Did anyone think it will be better?

This is my compilation of FC 27 after 3 days

I saw the first goal, but unfortunately I couldn’t bring myself to keep torturing myself after that. Where the hell is the defending??

Nothing against you or the effort you’re putting into this, but I think I just have to accept that it probably doesn’t matter how many sliders you tweak or which gameplay mods you use — FC 27 is never going to come close to replicating the real sport. Not even remotely.

Let’s see what can actually be done first before we decide what is or isn’t possible.
