I don't know if I'd say naive.. maybe a bit too optimistic😉? I think that that even in the best case scenario (namely, the "Authentic" thing or whatever it's called this year it's not just a slower slider but gives us back a game without 1vs1 defending, with midfielders correctly tracking/looking aware, correct/slower movement, ball separate from the player etc., which I don't believe for a second, but it's just me), after the initial shock I still see people starting to try combinations to further improve on that (as it effectively was when we had it better before they started to butcher the fundamentals).

And, as I said, I don't believe they'll give us all that stuff at once! If we are lucky and it becomes a tactical game again (the very best I can hope for since they talked about making defense smarter), we'll probably have to tinker with sliders to correct movement, pass speed and so on. At least that's how I see it

(hopefully I'm all wrong and it's perfect from the get go.. God knows how much I'd love to be proven wrong by EA!)

That's certainly the plan, but with simulation mode in FC25 locking the sliders, it was quickly apparent you could make improvements if only you could access them.

Plus, one gameplay set may not work well for all circumstances - e.g. if you play in a lower league, it may represent poorer players as simply slower ones, or pass accuracy may be just the same as it is in the EPL, so you'll be able to "fix" that.

Here's hoping for a lot more sliders too, so those on console can do things closer to what modders can achieve.

The best way for them to do it is to allow sliders, but 'lock' their range. So passing speed in Authentic can't go higher than say 35, and can't go lower than 60 on competitive, or something like that. Saying that, I feel no sliders will be available in Authentic.. Hope I'm wrong
 
Before on FIFA games, there were Arcade or Simulation mode. It was different than sliders.
So I hope you can select 'authentic' mode and tweak the expérience with sliders.

I hope it is a preset for having realistics inertia, ball physic, stamina effect, strongh Defenders and better CPU creativity.
I hope a focus on gameplay trailer this tuesday with a deep dive.
 
There are things that cannot be fixed with sliders (like defensive awareness, which has been sacrificed in the name of “1 v 1 competitive battles”, or proper foot planting) and that’s why I was hoping to see those things fixed without sliders, but I agree that sliders should still be available to fine tune the experience.
As I said earlier, I just wouldn’t want to have to wrestle with them in order to have a proper footballing experience.
 
Authenticity features can also be enabled with custom sliders, so there's no need to use the incredibly slow authentic sliders.

I’m I right in thinking there are only a set number of sliders you can change when selecting Authentic mode?

These sliders represent customised that produce an authentic experience?

You can change all sliders.

You select "custom", then underneath that make sure "Authentic Features" is on. After that you can alter whatever you like, but you still get the hardcoded Authentic extras.

I may be nuts, but changing the sliders on PC don't seem to have the same impact as it does on consoles. I've been playing on both, and can definitely see and feel the changes on my PS5.
 
What would people say are the main differences to the game from using these sliders to the default values in Authentic mode? I'm wondering whether to try them, but don't want to waste the five minutes of trial changing them if there's no significant difference
 
Passing speed on default authentic sliders if much too sluggish in my opinion, and headers often lack finesse. Headed shots and headed passes needs a speed slider.

A "physics impact" slider (like the one for tackling) would be better, IMO. So that you could pump it up to 99 and make headers have the power they would ACTUALLY have given the speed of the ball and the contact with the head.

Or, better yet, no slider needed - just headers that make sense.

We need sliders for everything at this point, probably the only way we’ll get a game that is actually geared towards offline players. Imagine a slider that controls the weight of the ball…
