Haha, the things in the headline about 580,000 for all the players if they win, all the motivation, the trust in Ranieri just starting to seep in from the fans as they knocked out Arsenal. But then, Ranieri had to fuck it up, didnt he? Lets check out the starting lineup. Firstly, Bridge, not given a rest against everton, where we drew 0-0 anyway, was playing abolutely pathetically, he lost the ball everytime he got it, and did not look comfortable at all. He should have been rested against Everton. Desailly, Terry, Melchiot, all fine, he had limited options. Now the midfield, I did not really support of Gronkjaer starting on the left, but he did well, so good for him, Lampard, Makelele were also good choices, however starting with Parker, I dont know. Since we were away, we needed goals, not to defend, Parker may be needed at the Bridge to prevent away goals. Crespo and Gudjohnsen up front, not bad. Now to the match, a shaky start, undoubtedly, but full credit to Gudjohnsen and Crespo, simply putting us back at 1-1 and getting that precious away goal. Half Time, I almost threw up, it seemed as if Ranieri was not watching the same game I was, or he needed his glasses fixed, Veron was coming on, for gronkjaer, Veron, in a Champions League Semi Final, as he just returns from injury. Great choice claudio, taking off one of the fastest players on the pitch, attempting to frustrate the Monaco defenders, but still I did not argue. After the red card was shown, there were two game plans, stay with the 1-1, which is stilll a mighty good result, or try own monaco, with the one man advantage and score another 2 or 3 goals, guess which one the Tinkerman chose? So Hasselbaink came on for Melchiot, he played a 4-3-3, Parker went to right back, YES, PARKER WENT TO RIGHTBACK, by god this man was taking a risk, about 10 minutes later, Ranieri was like "oops, better bring Huth on, Parker cant play as rightback". So, a 19 year old defender came on, in a champions league semifinal. Fine, i understand Melchiot was not doing a good job, but Parker and then Huth? Bleh. Anyway, Huth didnt do that bad to my suprise, it was the midfield, we were getting hammered. The three man midfield with Makelele, Lampard and Veron, simply could not withstand the 4 of Monaco, as they switched to a 4-4-1. THey scored. Ranieri's play backfired. They scored again, once again Ranieri could not do a thing. And that is the story of taking a gay ass risk by trying to win the game, rather than settling for a 1-1, which is totally acceptable.
