Champions League 2011/12

Messi oh Messi, 1 post, 1 bar. Barcelona wasent destined to go through.. Well I congratulate Chelsea... Fail season for Barcelona :( Messi needs to score....

Barça fanboys aren't as bad as Anti-Barça fanboys.

English commentators agreed with the Red to Terry obviously.

Well done Chelsea, but how many of the starting eleven will be able to play in the final?

well well well. That was what my gut feeling was saying all day long that chelsea will win. i told my chelsea mate at work that i have a feeling they will win!

On to the game. Referee got most decisons correct and was gutted to see fabregas cheat and dive. GLAD Messi missed that. they did not deserve that penalty.

Terry, what a fool,. he gets away with that crap week in week out in the league and im glad he got done for it. Just a shame Chelsea still went through so it masks his stupidness. Had Chelsea lost, the press/media/fans will all leech on that idiot.

Barcelona were crap tonight. They continued to try and pass the ball to the net with absolutely no plan B whatsoever. this is why many feel that if this barca side was playing in the Premier league, they will have a lot of similar games like this.

If you think Chelsea were defensive/physical, Stoke are far worse then that! Which leads me to another. Why hasnt messi scored past chelsea?

Can messi do his thing week in week out against a far physical/defensive english side?

And last thing, Pepe. No plan B. is he really a great manager within the same bracket has wenger and fergie who both punch above their weight in there respected clubs(united should not mount a challenge for the league with that squad and arsenal should be a mid table team with that squad.)

Is the fact that Pepe has not signed a new contract having a similar negetive impact on the players just like Spurs with Harry being prime suspect for england job?

Agreed. The bitterness towards Barca is quite amazing. Then again as a United fan I'm used to it, success brings resentment.

They were the team taking all the risks in the 2 legs, they deserve credit for that. That being said if Chelsea hadn't played on the counter attack, they wouldn't be in the final, i'm sure of that, so I don't blame them for playing that way.

No reason to be dicks about it. Barca tried and didn't make it this year. Nothing wrong with that.
whos beinga dick?

Barca played average IMO. they had no plan B, ran out of ideas and Messi had a bad game mis-placing passes. there was not much movement around the box and no one wanted to shoot on goal or even try and do a few decent crosses in the box.

the Chelsea defense sat very deep and when your up against a team sitting deep you fucking shoot from outside the box!

This is like Liverpool 2005 all over again. Football, bloody hell!

Special night that's for sure. Where would I put it in my list? I'd have to say third on the 'wow' list. I'd have the mighty Reds in at number two v Milan, but I still think the Manchester United win v Bayern was the most dramatic game I've ever seen. I watched the game again the other day, and quite how Bayern didn't win that like 10-2 or something, I still can't believe. They hit the post like eight times and Schmeichel made save after save after save.

I was wondering the same! They can't pull a damn mid range shoot! C'mon, you have guys like Messi, Iniesta and Xavi who are good shooters so why don't you try to pull a rocket from outside the box?

Well Done Chelsea, Barca's lack of plan B (and increased tempo) is crazy.

Also Gary Neville is a horrible commentator and Geoff Shreeves is an idiot.

sóc cule i no m'avergonyeixo mai.

All this backlash from this people says a lot about the greatness this Barca team has achieved in this past 4 years. Sadly all that goes up comes down. That is all. Congratulations to Chelsea.

And in the end this is why we love this game, because strange things happen.

Now unto some actual game stuff, Pique's injury influenced this game so much. I doubt the first goal for Chelsea happens with him, because Busi would have been roaming and Pique would have been tracking the middle, and Valdes would have reacted better.

Messi was a shadow of himself, he has played football non stop since August 2009 (2009-2010, 2010 WC, 2010-2011, 2011 Copa America, 2011-2012) I would trust him again. He has brought us too much happiness to dismiss him for one bad game or even three.

We need a Centreback, if we had one (Thiago Silva comes to mind) Chelsea don't score today (Puyol was playing leftback). While Mascherano has excellent positioning, he is not physically capable (too small) to play there so much.

Cesc has been really bad this second half of the season, not turning out to be the player we expected him to be.

We still have the cup final, and we won the CWC and the two Super Copas this season. So it hasn't been all that bad.

Bitterness due to their cheating and diving, Not just this game by the way every big game they play in there players roll about the ground even when not getting touched.

You honestly dont see why people are now turning against Barca? Just look at Sanchez rolling about when he hardly got touched and Fabregas cheating/diving to fool the ref to give a penalty, that aint football that's cheating.

I'm ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED! :D
I put $15 at Half time on Chelsea to get a draw because the odds were an incredible 1/26!

And while I gotta be honest, I thought Barca would get a couple goals in the 2nd half, there's always a chance Chelsea can hang on and then score one through a corner kick or something (IVanovic had a great chance to score) or through a counter-attack in last 5 minutes especially if Sturridge, Torres or Kalou come in. So I took the risk as I'm always willing to lose small to win much bigger.

Well Torres and Kalou did come in and that late goal may not have made a difference in the outcome, but it did for me. It turned $15 into $405!! I cheered for that goal louder than my brother who's a Chelsea fan!! :D :BOP:

:BOP: Credit to Di Matteo, Ashley Cole, Petr Cech and the team disciplined defending. :BOP:

As for Terry, what a f'n let-down! Almost cost his team at most crucial stage. He must feel so relieved but also pissed off he'll miss the final.

The better news in all this is that I've $40 which will turn into $370 if Bayern wins CL and I'd be VERY confident of them doing that against Chelsea in a 90-min match in Munich. They just have to get past Madrid tomorrow which should be a lot trickier.

when is someone gonna win 2 Champions leagues consecutively. it never happens lol, in the interview you can tell JT has been crying. what a plonker.

the ref did alright tonight apart from the penalty. it was a complete dive by cesc.

Easiest $400 I ever made I still can't believe it! :D

I really did it thinking there's a small 20% chance happening. But that's the thing, if you lose, you're only losing $15, if you win, it's $400!

Now I just need Bayern to get past Real tomorrow, then I'm pretty confident of another $400 coming off a $40 investment! I made that bet when Bayern had lost 1st leg to Basel and was on verge of elimination. :D

+1

stupid fabregas diving like a fool. bet uw ont hear much about it but if it was Ashley young, he gets leeched for it

A defence with Alves as a RB, Puyol as an LB and Mascherano as a CB, where Puyol and Alves go to the wings, and Mascherano stays back right at the half of the pitch, is vulnerable. It is unacceptable for a team that wants to win everything, to not have players for the defence! They should have bought at least one during the summer or the winter transfer period, yet, they bought just another forward (Sanchez). AND, you put in Keita, and he plays as a CF???? WTF?

what an incredible bad luck we had! Some say we were average in this roudn, lets see:

- 4 posts
- Cole saved one on the line
- Cech who was delightful did at least 3 absolutely amazing saves
- Fabregas, Busquets missing two on practically empty net
- And 24 shots MORE, 12 of them on target.

It was simply very very bad luck and a wasteful finishing.

On the other hand, Chelsea was clinical. 4 shots on 90 minutes, 3 goals. In football, you cant beat that. Congrats to Chelsea for displaying an impressive physical performance, but specially to Cech who was the real hero. He has saved the team many many times.

Messi was wasteful and a shadow of himself, he's too tired as Xavi and Iniesta. And we missed Pique. Of course there are a lot of things that tactically Barcelona could have done but we forget they are human beings, the pressure played against us this time. We should have closed the match with 2-0 but we went for the third and conceded. Very childish, but Ramires was amazing there.

Finally, after watching Drogba diving like an animal I really cant understand all those barcelona haters repeating their stupids mantras. It's very unclassy and I'm fed up of it. I don't like this attittudes so I wont be around here anymore, I'm honestly tired of all that shit some people is used to and doesnt add anything to the debate. It's totally unnecessary and the great people in the board can be contacted elsewhere, so good bye guys.

Good luck to Chelsea on the final, they may finally get the cup this year.
