Champions League 2011/12

Hehe, yes this season we can relax and I won't feel guilty for having Arsenal out. n fact if we get through it will have a bot of revenge taste forme after Milan send Arsenal home.

hat said, Milan is probably one of the very few teams that can beat us on 2 legs. It will be a great fixture and hope we see great matches as we did in the first round.

Go APOEL, Bring forth what is in the future will tell, not only in Cyprus but all over the world, now you're writing a new history of football. Although the final "Real Madrid - Barcelona" was a very and very good decoration this season. ;)

I wonder how Witsel will do.
It seems as if Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool and Real Madrid are all after him.
I would choose Liverpool or United.

I'd choose Man Utd.

Anyway, looking forward to this too. Benfica to win at home and Chelsea to win in London?

I'd choose Man Utd or even Arsenal if they put a bid on him. Anyway, he should stay here one more season and then go try his talents in a bigger league.

I say Benfica 2-1 Chelsea. Benfica always score and always allow the opponent to score. :( The bright side is that, according to this, we'll score in London for sure. :D

1500 Chelsea supporters in downtown! Gosh.

As for Madrid, watch out Sahin lovers: Nuri set to make debut as a starter.

I hope Benfica impress, will make me feel better about drawing with them at OT!!!

Great to see Sahin finally back and playing. Too much talent to be sitting on a bench.

Draw HT, Real Madrid Full time $10 e

Draw HT, Benfica Full time $10

Those are the only small bets I'm making tonight. If I lose, no biggie, $20 lost. But if I hit it, they're $40 reward approx each so I just need to hit even with one of them to be profitable.

I can see it being a cagier first half in both matches where the home team is more focused on not conceding rather than scoring. But in Benfica's case, in front of that electric crowd and the quality attackign players they possess, I can see the likes of Gaitan create a chance and Cardozo to score for a 1-0 or 2-1 victory while Real's class will ultimately show and they should win 1-0 or 2-0.

Half way there. :)

Now just need Benfica and Real to win it in 2nd half or at least one of them. :)

Well it's been pretty damn dire so far.

APOEL v Madrid is just Wolves v United or something, I'm all for underdogs doing well but they have no business being in the tournament like this, I actually think if they weren't so cautious and defensive they'd stand a chance at causing an upset, Madrid aren't particularly sound defensively and wouldn't have been expecting them to come out all guns blazing.

Both games have been sooo poor so far. Disappointing really. Expected more from Benfica at home, and while they've created a bit, other than a header straight at Cech, no superb chances.

shame how Benfica dont have any italian on 1st 11 , remember me inter playing without any italian few years ago , not sure if now they have any , pazini ?

whatever i think there should be at the last 1 penalty for benfica special that of Terry played with heand !

poor football i say too , im not even feeling it as a CL match !

$35 off APOEL vs. Real game and $10 lost on a somewhat disappointing Benfica. $25 profit. :)

Nolito couldn't have done much worse in his cameo apperance off the bench! Everything he touched turned to $hit and he absolutely WASTED 2 great corner kicks and one FK in a promising position with defenders and everyone forward when they needed a good delivery! Amazing how so many POOR set piece deliveries are made at the highest level.

Jardel really should've done much better with that chance.

You should have seen Bynia bebo, that guy was even better than Delap!

We had one Italian some years ago mate. :P

You meant Portuguese sure, well, we already discussed it earlier in this topic. Again, I have no problems in having an All-Latin team.

Gutted with the result. :(

I find it a little strange for this stage of the competition though. I'm sure Benfica have always had a huge following and even got that new stadium to accommodate more fans - I guess the crisis hit Lisbon hard!

Why is Benfica's stadium not sold out for a CL game? There are many empty seats from what I can see on TV.

The official numbers are 60830. Stadium capacity is almost 65000 but for safety reasons there's never more than +/- 63000 people. If you see, there's some empty seats on Chelsea stand, some might have not be sold for safety reasons, others weren't sold at all. So, it was almost full house, 60830.
Maybe you saw the stadium in the beginning of the match, where is not full because the game starts at 19.45, and it's hard to get there in time in a working day ;)

I was somewhat disappointed by Benfica because this Chelsea side is not the best one.
As for Apoel: given the finances of both clubs it's a miracle Apoel can play against Real Madrid at this stage of the CL.
A club like Real Madrid should win the CL every year considering their budget and all the rest. I've said this countless times and will repeat it: all those huge clubs are underachieving.

APOEL's highest paid player, Ailton, is paid even less than Real Madrid's less paid player. You can understand the reason why it is pretty normal that they couldn't get the ball past the middle. It is some achievement they had made 75' without conceding ( it is some achievement they got in the quarterfinals).

Respect to APOEL, even if it lasted 74min. They probably made over 15 million this season, now thats some boost!

I think yesterday was very booring CL football day, tonight Milan - Barca..mmmmm!!!
