Champions League 2011/12

Uefa help France again?

Ajax two goals ruled out,so Real finishes with 0-3. Zagreb gets red card and then lets 7 goals in. Really strange coincidence, Zagreb wasen't playing at all in second half.

Manchester City and United out, wow!

Congrats to CSKA! Intresting knockout stage!

Haha this is so awesome! How ironic that on the very same night, the GLORY HUNTER fans of both this generation and last generation cry together! Be it the old Red Devil types, or the NEW sky-blue ones! Only Chelski fans are left now... :P

:LMAO:

Must be really quiet in Manchester right now... :D

EVERYONE is crying! lol, Young or Old, Citeh, or United, Red or Blue, it doesn't matter! Everyone needs a tissue. :D

Watching Lille vs. Trabzonspor and it's 0-0 but been very entertaining though one sided. LOSC playing great Barca like football and with Hazard, Joe Cole and Payet switching positions and interchanging, it's a joy to watch. Talented players, quick feet, great movement and teamwork as well as great individual skills.

Hazard could've scored a goal but other than that shot, he's been SENSATIONAL! Watching him is a pleasure! Reminds me of Messi sometimes the way he's so fast, so smart, so skillful and also gets back up to his feet so quickly every time they knock him down. So far, from this HALF alone, you can make a nice compilation video of Eden's immense skills and running with the ball, quick little touches and chances created! A nice compilation from only 45 minutes of play!

If it wasn't for a few really great saves from the Trabzonspor GK who is having a great game and probably 2nd MoM right now, Lille would be winning this. With 45 minutes to go, there's still enough time to get the much needed victory.

And credit to Trabzonspor so far because although they haven't created much at all and being outplayed, they are very organized! Other teams would've been broken down by Lille's attacking prowess much more already I feel. But this team is organized and will probably be broken down and concede in 2nd half but at least they don't go down without a fight. :)

definitely hats off to Hazard's football but shame that he can't finish it, I mean, Lille are sooo wasteful. except Tolga Zengin's performances, TS didn't already deserve to go through as well. man, they were shit when on possession, it was too painful for me waiting a goal from them throughout the 90 mins, yet they didn't even come near to it. so congrats to the Russians, they definitely deserved it.

it's a pity to see Ajax couldn't make it, and in such a way. total nightmare for the fans.

Zangin had a great performance but yeah you're right, other than him, Trabzonspor managed to hold out against Lille but didn't deserve to go through.

I knew with Inter being 1st already, there's a very good chance CSKA will win and they've done it! At the end of the day, they probably deserved it just a little more than the French and the Turks. I think Lille messed up when in home leg against CSKA, they were leading 2-0 was it? And threw it away in last minutes! That was crucial! Since then it was uphill battle!

I don't like conspiracies theories, but now strange things happened in Amsterdam and Zagreb...did you see the wink of the blonde Zagreb player after one of Lyon's goals..of course this could be a coïncidence and i don't beleive at all that UEFA helps French clubs...but the two disallowed goals and the 7 goals in Zagreb...something strange.

I guess the toughest Europe League ever is ahead. :)

And it's about time Shaqiri makes a serious impact on European football. This guy is just deadly. lol what am I sayin, he's only 20. :D

Also I'm personally looking forward to a RMadrid-Napoli draw if possible. Would be exciting to see what those big team hunters will do against the only team has a perfect record.

I'm enjoying the Euro tournaments more than ever these days, wish some Turkish team could've also joined the party. :(

Does qualification happen based on direct challenges or goal difference? If the latter then we surely can have some huge doubts on the results...

first the team who got more points in the matches among the teams with equal points, if still equal who got the best goal difference and still equal who got the most goals scored.

both ajax-lyon matches ended goalless and all of lyon's nine goals scored against Zagreb. :D

p.s. trabzonspor is probably the first team ever eliminated from CL twice in a season.

Poor decisions from the linesman in the Ajax - Madrid match.

And the other game (having seen the highlights) looks very dodgy.

Congrats to Basel though, deserved win and those ITV commentators are pathetic (Chiles included).

Ajax is very unlucky for sure, but Lyon put a team with fresh players, Leko (the butcher) take 2 yellow and in second half it's more easy, at 4-1 Lisandro in for Lovren, great coaching job.

But you and the Olympiakos fan, need stop with French conspiracy, Wenger is French and put B team yesterday, Lille French champ out of all competitions, like PSG.

It was a very very strange night, both in Amsterdam and in Zagreb. I was flicking between those two games and the CSKA Inter game. Certainly I cannot see why both Ajax goals were ruled out, and on top of that the second Real goal (Higuaín) could have been offside (I dont know if Anita was playing him on or not). I missed Leko's sending off? Were both yellows correct ? I've never seen a team collapse like Dinamo, they were 1-0 up and even at half time it was 1-1. If I'm honest I think that Ajax are a better side than Lyonnais, in fact I would go so far as to say both Marseilles and Lille (if they had made it) would go further than Lyons. Imagine how the Ajax players must have felt finding out the score at the end of their match.

Great result for CSKA Moscow, especially when Akinfeev was out for so long. Dzagoev is a very special player and I think he would be good enough to play anywhere in Europe. Hopefully CSKA and Zenit can go very far, they are both good teams to watch and Shakthar v Zenit was the best Champions League game in the last decade.

You are the only one saying the result was not dodgy, following the 2 clearly disallowed goals of Ajax. And to say that I don't like Lyon, I like that team so much that I have even bought Lisandro's shirt this year. But hell, admit that what happened tonight is very strange.

Ouf course it's strange, i more looking my computer with Live score than my TV with Lille Trabzonspor, but look what i says on my post about Wenger, Lille and PSG.
And believe me, Platini don't care about French clubs and National team right now.

Yeah I'm not one for conspiracy theories at all and this whole Platini is French so French clubs (ALL French clubs  ) must be getting decisions their way is just ridiculous.

So which club does Platini support anyway? Marseille? Lyon? Lille? Or does he love them all and will go out of his way to ruin his own reputation to make sure they all qualify!?! lol. Isn't he a St. Etienne fan ?

The president of UEFA is French and now that one man has the power to change all referee decisions of ALL French club matches and pay opposition teams like Zagreb to play crap and get embarrassed in front of their home fans 7-1?! I don't think so!

I'll reserve further comments and judgment till I watch the Lyon vs. Zagreb game however. Maybe I'd change my mind if I'd watched the game and saw something fishy. But probably it's nothing and people are over-reacting. The vast majority of people just love controversies!

I'm surprised there isn't mention of something like Sepp Blatter is Swiss so Basel must have gotten helping hand to qualify, etc.!

These two games are SO connected, everything is well planned and organized to put Lyon through. I don't know who is to blame (Platini, UEFA, Lyon and Dinamo chairmen) but only someone stpid can say that these matches were regular.

Ajax disallowed 2 goals, and Real scoring two goals from very close offside/not offside situations.
Other match is obviously sold by Dinamo's controversial chairman 'businessman' Mamic, they waited for Real Madrid to take the lead in Amsterdam and after that the money was paid to Mamic's account and Gomis got his 5 mins of fame. Watch all seven Lyon goals and pay attention to behaviour of Dinamo's defenders - obviously allowing Lyon players to score, I even saw on on replay how Vida winked to Gomis after he scored his last goal, like he wanted to say "Ok, we let you win by 5+ you don't have to humiliiate us any more" :D

It is obvious that both FIFA and UEFA are mafia organizations ran by people from shadow and their ONLY interest is MONEY. And the worst thing is that they are ruining the game.

DISGRACE

I don't think UEFA is behind this for once. It's just that idiot Zdravko Mamic whol sold this game. Sure, Ajax might have been dodgy aswell but I wouldn't have mattered if Lyon didn't win with such a big result.

I don't believe in the conspiracy theories about Platini and French clubs, not at all. But imo this quotation is as simplistic as most of thore conspiracy theories PLF...

It is very much possible that people are over-reacting (statistically it is the safe thing to say). But what happened yesterday evening in those two matches is, very very weird. I wasn't really thinking among the line of Platini, UEFA and a big scheme to make French teams sucessfull...i even think that Ajax progressing would suit Platini even more since he wants clubs from litle countries to perform better...

But Croatia has also had is fair deal of betting scandals... and i also think that what happened in Amsterdam is unrelated to what happened in Zagreb...but the fact is that Ajax have every right to feel hard done...If you would have seen the match in Zagreb, you would see that something happened. As a Genk fan i'm something of a specialist in thrashings...when Genk lost to both Chelsea and Valencia, they were outplayed from minute one in an away game. This was a home match where the home team took the lead. I know they had a man less (and both yellows were justified), but this is very, very weird. When Gomis scored one of his goals to Lyon players fought for the ball..the Zagreb player who wanted to take the ball out of the goal looked at them and suddenly had a big wink as if to say: "don't panic guys..."

Of course this is all interpretation and normally i would be the first to dismiss it, but this is the most weird qualification i've ever seen and this from somebody who loves French football... poor Ajax.

The match i watched live was Basel-Man Utd. What a poor Man Utd performance. I find some justice in the fact that Vidic's elbow played a role in the first Swiss goal...

To be honest, i don't see all the fuzz about Shaqiri. I saw much better players in the Basel team. It's pretty obvious that Shaqiri is talented, but he has no vision...i know the assist from the second goal came from him, but that was one of the rare occasions where he actually passed the ball to a better placed team mate...too often he went for personal glory. I'm not convinced by this player (yet).

Also delighted that Napoli progressed, very attractive team...well with Basel, Apoel, Zenith, CSKA, Napoli there are quite a few unexpected teams that qualified...i like that.

Italian football has 3 clubs, in the knock-out stages: great!

I feel for both Lille and Ajax. But both clubs also have to blame themselves...

Is this the man that has Kaka on his back? Maybe i should consider opening a tatoo parlour in Manchester...what a utter stupid fan this is...
