Call of Duty: World at War

Had one of my best ever COD matches yesterday. I've only won a couple of COD4 games, I'm not a great player!

Anyway, in a straight death match yesterday, I was on a roll, knifing left/right/centre and doing some good shooting - got the artillery which took out about 4 people and then got the dogs who killed another 6/7.

Ended up with 29 kills, 6 deaths and still lost the match 150-148.

Great fun!

(got about 675 points )

Sounds good, even though I'm sick and tired of WW2 games.

I'll wait this out and make sure it's not another fad game like Battlefield first though.

Love it myself too, multiplayer especially.

It's a far cry from when i was ''scared'' to play FPS's online for fear of getting pzzzzwned or whatever the cool kids used to say.

Just out of interest do any of you save your dogs or artilleries for your next death? I used to on the previous version and found it was the key to getting the big kills because the kills you get on the next respawn from the special attacks would usually at least net you an extra UAV/spy plane.

If i was better i'd have a pop at hardcore mode but i'm usually the numpty who wastes his team mates...but especially with all these rifles you can do some proper Enemy At The Gates snipe-age i imagine.

At the mo though i'm loving taking out tanks with satchel charges and sticky bombs.

I started my campaing missions on Veteran and it's painfully difficult. Just in case I change my mind, is there any way to change the difficulty without having to restart from scratch?

Yeah, when you are in the menu go to SOLO --> Mission Select --> click on the mission and choose your difficulty.

 They mention it plugs into your PC with a USB cable ... yet they show a parallel cable being plugged in :CONF:

Looks brill! I was just thinking the other day about something like this. Bet it's pricey though £100+

That's the future maaaaan.

Just finished the solo mode, very good. Liked the russians campaign better than the yanks one purely because of the scenarios.

Played the nazi zombie mode as well. It's quite difficult but really fun and a great little addition. Can't wait to play it with some mates and see how long we can hold up.

Hahaha Zombie mode, we opened ALL the doors and we survived to level 21 that was so funny.

I got to 17 last night. I'm playing with strangers so it's pot luck what kind of players you get.

We opened up all the bottom floor and held out until 17. Couple of us got the ray guns so that helped. I opened up the top floor from the staircase in the help room. I was trying to get my team up there to make a stand in the far corner up above where the grenades are hanging off the wall. But they were swamped down below and I couldn't get anywhere near them.

I think if you can hold the "balcony" on the top floor and funnel all the zombies through the other staircase then you can hold out for a long time. On the balcony you only need to watch the window and the doorway so 4 people can cover 2 entrances quite well, especially if you got a supply of grenades on the wall.

Anyone else got any tactics?

Played some single-player missions on this earlier, thought it was a bit crap to be honest. Another WWII shooter, felt very generic and just like a typical Brothers In Arms/Medal Of Honour/CoD game with no difference.

I'd much rather play CoD4, no comparison.

The missions do get better towards the end. I too enjoyed cod4's single player more than this. But I also understand there's only so much you can do with the jungle warfare in ww2. All the levels are too similar despite them trying to mix it up with some coastal, jungle and trench battles. I enjoyed the russian missions even if they blaaaaaatantly copied enemy at the gates but it don't matter lol.

Depends what difficulty you play, If you play on Veteran it'll take you a few days unless you play a whole day without stopping. It's a worth while campaign, it's (in my opinion) a bit longer than the previous, but it's still a bit short. But I love the campaign, felt much longer than it is.
