Call of Duty: World at War

A tip for some of you, if you want to get this game done quickly and not as challenging then go for REGULAR difficulty, but if you want to play realistically and at a slow pace then go for VETERAN. I'm playing on VETERAN and it's very difficult but it's very satisfying when you win.

THIS GAME PWNS LOLZ.

I am addicted to it and I've hardly been online. So far I think

Of story mode: Awesome cut scenes, really adding to the whole feel of the game, giving it a whole new way to look at WWII. Gameplay is crazy, I love playing against the Japanese [Banzais FTW] but I much prefer the Russian missions, they are more exciting and stealthy, whereas Marines are more in the style of run and shoot, though this isn't a complaint it's good to have a bit of both. It does seem a bit more arcade like than COD4, but it doesn't bother me. Some are complaining that its not much different than COD4, but why would you want to change it so much when 4 was amazing?

Online: Up to level 9 or 10 can't remember, so I haven't played much, but what I have played has been great. Looking forward to completing story mode and getting the Zombie Nazi mode thing, oh hell yes. The levels we're good, roundhouse is a pretty intimidating level! If you're in the middle you just feel so trapped, especially with the tanks. GOD I LOVE THE TANKS. Though I do not whore them like some others do, it's damn stupid. I just get in them, shoot a few, then bugger off, where as you get some people just staying in them for the whole match.

All in all, fucking love it. Much more than what I was expecting, though I can understand why some do not like it. Oh and it has trophies which I wasn't expecting too, yay.

I have to say Co-op and the single player story mode especially is brilliant

like Yana said the cut scenes bring a extra dimension to the game making it very film like and very very enjoyable

im not looking forward to running and gunning online though :(

Co-op sounds good. Crap, that's another £40 I've got to find, thanks Coopz. You better start hating the new NFS so I don't have to fork out for that as well. ;)

I tired co-op with 3 other mates playing the competitive and campaign. It was brilliant, the game is smooth and even though I had red bar connection it still works fine.

I haven't tried co-op yet, but from what I keep hearing I might give it a go soon. It's just Headquarters online is so damn addictive, that's when I'm not addicted to the story ARGHHH so much to do.

Thanks for the games last night Yana - guess the connection got bad, not a prob, I went back to the SP mode :)

We were quite the tank team for a while there...

Hey no problem, I know the servers were all over the place last night, I ended up going back to single player too! I did enjoy those games, it is much better when you're with people you know we did kick some ass, you can team up like we did with the tanks, we should start our own clan- EWTA: Evo Web Tank Alliance!!

Does this game look like it will be the next COD4 or is it likely to just be a filler until the next real COD?

I think the game is great, the campaign is very different because of the environment when you play as the Americans and the Russians. The online is very similar, but some new maps and now you can use vehicles it's still very fun.

But the game is immense, I think it's better than COD4 it feels different. If you are doubtful still, rent it for a week and see how it is.

Its a shame people will miss out on this - or not give it a fair chance "WE HATE TRYARCHLOLZ! IW FTW!" etc...

If IW had put this out, people would be creaming over it (ok, technically, its the IW engine, but you get my point).

Great game, gripping story that is brilliantly presented and MP as good, if not better than COD4. Whats not to like?

COD4 is still superb though - we are lucky to have 2 great FPS!

Well I much prefer the WW2 setting COD games. COD4 was alright but it didn't excite me - the main 'wow' i heard about the game was it's graphics but i thought they was quite crappy in areas especially the 2D grass that really stood out when you went prone on that sniper level.

My main problem here is - Resistance 2 or this?

This. Definitely. It's your choice though isn't it. :)

Anyway, I'll be going on this in a few minutes for a good 3-4 hours, if anyone fancies a game with me, just invite me. Yarrr.

I don't know - I've played the beta of Resistance and i liked it. I liked the 60 player battles, i liked the co op mode and i have a story to continue from the first.

I just didn't get into the last COD as it seemed to get the best out of it you really needed to play with a group of mates regularly.

Me too haha! I was a bit confuddled.

Anyway, tried out the Zombie Mode tonight!! I have to say it is so fun and addictive. I haven't unlocked it yet to play myself as I haven't finished the story, I got invited into it by a friend. It's so god damned hard after the first 6 waves. The actually run at you and own you. You've got to earn points by shooting the zombies, reviving your friends and re-building the barriers to block the zombies from coming in, and you have to spend them on upgrading your guns, getting more ammo when you're low and opening doors/moving debris. God I love it.

Co-op with 4 mates is absolutely brilliant

Oh yeah how do you get Zombie mode and the other "cards"

i wanna play paintball

I think I've only found about 4 cards. :/ I need to go through the levels and find more, the guide may help. And what's this about paintballing?! Also on the Zombie mode, I don't know what the hell it was, but one of my friends I was playing with got a gun that looked normal, but fired some kind of green laser! All I know his he got it out of the random gun box and I want one.

On another note, I did complete story mode last night, I was a bit gutted when
Sgt Roebuck died! It reminded me of when Captain Price died in COD4. :(

The Russian ending was cool, enjoyed that last mission. I thought it was a nice touch too that you have to
take down the German flag and replace it with the Russian one! And it made me jump when that guy popped up over the wall and shot me!

I did expect story mode to be a bit longer, but that's my only complaint. I guess the online modes well make up for it though!
