NewAdventures is right about Suazo. Very quick and has quite good ball control. Also has good shooting, he used to take all of Cagliari's penalties and scored loads of goals before going to Inter - Milan and Roma wanted him too.

He won't play today, he was suppoused to be presenter yesterday at 14:00 in the Portuguese Federation, but somehow and in someway they had more to do lol? So he will stay in the bench and can't play at all. Oh well, we'll haveto wait for next week to see him. But today is the great day, Rodriguez by the end of this match will have his hears numb, with all the booing he will get from us.

Oh, I only noticed today Suazo's transfer was official, I was on holiday for over a week and lost touch of pretty much everything. :DD

Anyway, I can't stand the wait. A couple of hours to go to the big match and I'm getting nervous. If we are lucky I believe we can win, but Porto are a really powerful side. We just can't let them beat us or else we will be five points behind them after only two fixtures. Which might well mean our season's hopes will be fucked even before September. :((

Oh, and hopefully Rodriguez will break both legs tonight.

Well asking for a one season first place is a lil too exagerated, The team is all new, it will take time to develop a consistent teamwork partnership among all the players, so every Benfica fan shouldn't be asking for that so quickly, lets just hope we get second, its better then being fourth aint't it? After this is secured and the team has a Strong 11 we can think about a first place, we just need to be patient and not sack coach after coach for not getting a first place, its not easy to get there with a good team and even harder with a team that has what, 2 months together? Be patient my fellow Benfica fans, have it for a season or two and you will start enjoying the game just as every other team in Europe does.

Why is Katsouranis playing in central defence? Isn' t he a defensive-central midfielder?

Damn retarded Ref., when is that a penalty? ok the first arm pushing was but that diving made me lol at first but then hearing the refs whistle i just got mad serious.. some really bad decisions by the ref all over the field and a bad game in a bad time of the season made us lose, if it was around the sixth or seventh round we would have kicked major ass.
Porto don't know how to get advantage of a -1 on the field, make tons of divings and protests that the ref applauded by turning them into fouls.
If it wasn't for the time of the season and all the players not being routinized to a game like this, and no ref smelling every fart we gave, we could have won that game clearly.

I think the referee was spot on to be honest. Maybe he could have sent Rodriguez off in the first half, but other than that I can't see anything much wrong besides the odd throw-in.

Regarding the match, we didn't win it because we weren't good enough. Our defence is exactly what let us down last season and apparently it hasn't got any better. We have spent millions with attacking midfielders and forwards. That's good. The problem is that our defence is still the same. We don't have a backup for Leo or Maxi, Luisão has had better days and the rest lacks experience. We desperatly need a solid defence if we want to fight for the title. You can't lose matches if you don't concede.

Yebda was the only player who kept chasing everybody. I don't remember seeing Reyes, di Maria or Aimar running after whoever had the ball. Quique has a lot of work to do.

Besides, I can't understand why the hell our players were totally fucked in the last 25 minutes. Aimar and Leo were replaced because they were injured. Yebda, di Maria and Reyes were just as fucked. It's not looking good.

it was the beginning of the game. And considering the situation, referees in Portugal never give a red in those situations, when they should.


When did that happen? I wasn't able to watch the entire game. I'll see it tonight on the extended highlights on RTP.

Aimar out for a month, and Leo might make the Napoli game. :(

Seems Aimar is the new Miccoli for us, great talent, always injured...

Yeah i know, but someone could have been bought and the papers didn't give attention to it, so we are again with low resources for the left/right backs, ok...
Another thing is Aimar playing bad in that position, Benfica seem like Juventus now, Del Piero/Aimar behind and Trezeguet/Cardozo upfront, creative and finisher, except Del Piero knows hot to distribute the game to the left/right/center and dribble in the middle of all the defenders, Aimar needs a bit more support for that and Cardozo is kinda slow.. well lets see how well Suazo will do, whats up this weekend?

An Italian newspaper said that Di Maria will replace Figo at Inter next year. Hopefully its not true.

Anyway, he's good, has a lot of potential, but he has to show a lot more to be a top player...

But the offer Inter made was laughable..Suazo plus 2M €...c'mon, the guy is wanted by half europe. His release clause is 30M €..anything under 25M € isn't a good deal..

Or maybe Di Maria open his eyes and understand that Real Madrid is all name, so many players went there searching for glory and recognition but real isn't the dream team it used to be, its far from even reaching half that level. I really don't get why Ronaldo and such want to be there, i know there are some quality players there but if you want to make a fortune go to the USA or the Arabs, they will pay every single minute in gold..

imo Inter is a better career move than Real. Inter usually rotate a lot, if not, they usually loan their young players to good competitive teams. He would replace Figo.

Seeing the names of Di Maria and Figo in the same sentence is still way off.

Di Maria is still very unproven, and I don't know if he's got what it takes to become a true great player.

Hard win for us today, we still lack communication, holding the ball when we have the advantage of the game (and even when we don't have it), applying pressure to the ball and the player in possession of it and pass to the nearest players to avoid stupid ball loses..
