ARSENAL 1 (I was any) Middlesboro 0 (Dags was any)
Not a bad game to start the night as my team worked hard for the win and without any silly mistakes.
AC MILAN 2 (I was any) Inter 1 (Coopz was any)
DENMARK 1 Czech 2 (Nobody was any in this game and boy could you tell)
All of the goals in this one were down to CPU fuck-ups. Not fun, just annoying!!
ATLETICO 2 (Me and Tom ended up being any due to a lack of communication at the start of the game, sorry lads) Liverpool 1
This one went to extra time and a bit of late game robbery as I managed to get our right back sent off in the 2nd half of normal time
Not a bad nights gaming there lads, cheers

I really need to find my other mic, it doesn't half take a lot of the game away when you can't speak with your teammates
I really enjoyed tonight, thought I played pretty well and got some good crosses in. It seemed I became a marked man towards the last two games (especially the last) with me being taken out quite a lot, scared?

Oh man that was cack last night... I was generally awful in midfield - one game (Czechs) I was particularly bad, summed up by when we had a free-kick near the goal and my player (Rosicky) stepped up to take it, there was at least one groan over the mic!!!
I know I sucked, thats why I switched to Crouch in the last game and had a much better time - plenty of link up play and a couple of chances.
Anyway... apart from not being as good as the rest of the guys, I do have a reason which contributed to last night - someone playing as 'any'.
I straight up hate it now. It really takes you out of the game if you arent the 'any' player - for example, in the games I mentioned above where I played in midfield, I was generally hanging back as the anchor man and thus behind the play most of the time - this isnt a criticism of our guys, but nobody passes it backwards.
In the first game as Boateng, I think I touched the ball once during the whole match. I really prefer when the CPU plays and you can make a bit of space, call for the ball and 9 times out of 10, get a good pass.
The 'any' thing was totally summed up for me before the start of one game, when Chris went "oh, me vs Coopz" (when it was 5 v 5!) and that is the long and short of it. Playing as any virtually makes the game one on one, with a few others trying to get the ball, totally kills the atmosphere.
Sure the CPU fucks up, none worse than when we tried without an 'any' and Chris' keeper controlled a back-pass, turned to face his own goal and got tackled. Yea thats shit etc, but I'd rather have a few dodgy moments and be more involved individually, than be a total peripheral figure in a 1-0 win where I feel I didnt contribute to the match - we play for 'fun' after all - I get about 1-2 hours MAX a day of game time and I dont want to spend it running around begging for a pass!
Think most of our team agrees - obviously Bitter does, but Coopz was also not comfortable playing as 'any' either.
I dont think we should stick to it because its what CW wants (sorry Chris!), if we can make the AI work for us, then surely thats our choice. If they want to go 'any' then thats there choice.
Phew, anyway, rant over - looking forward to getting some form back soon, if not, I'll be switching to SWOS and yea, partying like its 1997!!!

I thought you had a good night personally? There was one game where I said over the mic that you were a destroyer in midfield, making tackles everywhere, setting plays up and spraying the ball around. I was well impressed and someone else agreed after I said that too.
I see your point about the "any" position and that it can feel like you're begging for the ball, it can sometimes feel like that, I agree.
But again, last night showed quite a lot of examples of the CPU messing up where a human wouldn't. True, humans do mess up (I know I messed up LOADS when I played as any ) but I don't ,mind those errors because those were genuine mistakes that a human makes and I could've just as easy made that mistake. It's the mistakes the CPU makes, that human's just wouldn't, that do my head in. If it made lifelike mistakes, then fine. But, and I've said this before, when the DC holds onto the ball and spins around on the spot while Coopz/Tim/CW/Insert Name Here runs straight into the player and takes the ball off them with ease, it's not right.

I hit the bar like 3/4 times last night too, considering I'm meant to be a right mid, I like to mix it up and get in there when I can Had a number of other times I could've scored too ... did I score? I think I might've gotten one?

i thought you did ok lastnight tbh paul
i personally thought i was our worst player...
anyway that aside, it's all down to fun at the end of the day, for some reason it lacked fun for me lastnight, not sure why
maybe because a bit of depression getting spread from the liverpool loss or from me feeling ill but it deffo lacked the normal fun factor (for me anyway)
i thought the game where we played as the cpu, completley outplayed them and we played better football than when we went any (imo)
for example our right back (CPU), was constantly involved , breaking up play and playing good balls into us.
we all made a conscious decision not to call for the ball unless we really thought we would get it, and i think it made a massive difference to the normal cpu mistakes...
have any of you thought that the cpu error on there side, could of been caused by a player on one side calling for the ball, so the keeper has to turn to play it on his strong foot, ok who the fuck wants to face there own goal, but that might of been the cause, not saying it is but it's possible
when a keeper has the ball, a forward should call for it, or we click the shoot button, it should clear it (in a perfect world lol)

Tell me about it, I play left back most games and noone passes it backwards at all, hence i dont bother bombing forward like a true left back. Ive said this since everyone started playing though, I prefer the ball to be knocked about like a proper match than chip thru balling everything upto the winger/striker!!!

I pass it back and around the field a fair bit I think? I do get it on the wing and play it to the full back while I dart off again, or pass it to the MC's around

Like I said in the post, I dont think its the fault of the 'human' players, natural instinct is to go forward and there is no point in passing it backwards 20 yards if there is a 10 yard forward pass on, but (especially if using the BAP cam), there is often no way of seeing whats on behind you and in front.
At least with the CPU players, you can call for the ball and generally you will get a (attempted) pass, through ball, long ball etc. As Dags I think said earlier, our AI right-back was awesome in one game, spraying the ball about when we called for it... shows it *can* work...

Ha! Well, maybe in one game, but there was one match - may have been the Czech one when I was shite that it happened - think it was the right back Grygera, couple of us noted his rangey passing - think most actually went to you down the right side?

Christ I have missed a lot by not checking this thread today.....
I guess I am being outvoted on the whole 'any' discussion right now and I can see where you guys are coming from. Lets try and play again over the next few nights and if its a 2v2 or a 3v3 lets be any, more than that and we should stick to individual players. Lets see how we get on with it then.

Not sure which game you're watching Kev, I had you over a barrel all the time! The first game I remember within the first 5 mins I hit the woodwork and your keeper made a great save. And the trend continued while I exploited you being up in our penalty area and leaving space at the back
