Battlefield : Bad Company Series

Is it just me or does it take ages to rank up in this game compared to other titles such as Call of Duty?

I think you really need to be in a squad to rank up quicker. I was playing on my own tonight maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it as much.

You level up fast when you start but then you almost have to double up your xp for the last unlockable. I've reach level 10 in 10 hours as a medic winning between 1500-2000 pts most of the time.

And I do agree with jaygrim, nodody uses this function. If I'm going to die, I always press select since raising your weapon takes ages. Always help your squad if you can.

I played as a sniper last night. I was thrown into one Conquest with relative n00bies, so I was outranking most of them (even though I'm only Rank 3) and it seemed they were just starting out on the game. Gave me time to pick them off and rack up some points

Also took out 3 tanks in one game with the C4. It's so good when you sneak up on one from behind as they're going gung-ho in every other direction, and then just planting the C4 on the rear.

On one of the abandoned ships, I noticed one of their snipers crouched infront of me waiting for gunfire to stop. As he was there, pretty much motionless, I took out my sniper rifle and shot him clean in the back of the head from out 2 yards away (I wanted to make sure!!) :smiley36: On another occasion, I noticed an enemy run out in front of me (unaware I was there), so I sneaked up behind him as he was trying to get past a fence, and stabbed him in the head with my knife. Nothing. I stabbed him again in the head, hearing the clicking and blood squirting noise. Again, the f*cker was unaffected. I had to switch to my handgun to finish him off. I thought he was Wolverine for a second. Anyway, I was very relieved when he finally died.

I also managed to nab 3 dog tags off fallen victims.

I think the basic rules are clean headshots are an instant kill. Two shots anywhere on the body is a kill. If not, your target has either healed himself or is packing uprated armour.

All rifles should usually kill with one shot to the body but it seems to happen at random, unless using the M95, which regularly kills from single bodyshots.

Also, the stock sniper rifle is arguably the best until you unlock the .50 cal. Any upgrade until that weapon isn't really that good and the original gun is better.

I got killed by a defibrillator yesterday :COAT:

Haha.. I've killed 2 people with that thing. I should have had about 5 but I keep zapping snipers from behind with it and it seems to do no damage and then they'll turn round and see me with it in my hands and kill me.

I keep trying to get that dentist trophy as well - I've killed 3 people with the drill so far but I always seem to be somehow missing their head as they stand sniping. Not sure what's going on there. but I mean, I'm aiming at their head and they just topple over dead... but no headshot.

loving this game. best fps game in the last few years. very fun and blows away the COD series.

i had played this already in the ps3 beta and it was awsome and then i got it on the pc last week and my o my its jaw droppingly gorgous on the PC as expected.

wished their was a way for pc users to play againts console users but meh, i have made a lot of friends on the pc version s im not fussed although it would be nice to team up with some of u guys.

brilliant game

I think this is a really great game, it really is more realistic than other titles online. And I've been playing with a few buddies (call us sad if you wish) but we play like a real squad in the military, we cover each other and we never cross the road without communicating and etc. Hardcore Rush at the moment playing as a sniper!

Great fun!

Got this last night and couldn't get around to it due to some studying I had to do in the late hrs. I enjoyed the last Battlefield to no end, however I really wasn't impressed with the 360 demo this year. Since demos are simply just that, Demos, I didn't let the dissapointment stop me from buying it. I'll be playing it when I get home tonight and hope I am satisfied with it.

I really hope some of the issues/bugs mentioned won't detract from the enjoyment.

Anyone fancy some 4 vs 4 vs 4 vs 4 tomorrow?

If I'm able to get online sure I'll be up for that. I played some the other day with mj (matt1986somethingaboutnfc) and it was pretty good stuff. I've hardly used the assault class online as i tend to play as a recon or medic and have been getting good scores with them but these other modes give me a use for it.

I'm up for some team deathmatch later if you guys are on about 11ish - want to watch Lost after the match.

I pretty much echo the thoughts on here, great game online beautiful visuals and lots of fun. Haven't touched SP though, doesn't really appeal to me apart from the easy trophies.

One shitty thing is there are hardly any maps. I think there are only 4 when you start and 2 more with the VIP.

Surely they could have brought out the first games maps too.

They'll call that the Retro/Flashback Map Pack and charge for it.

EA has restated its "extensive paid digital content plan" for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

During today's Wedbush Morgan financial conference, lead money-man Eric Brown said game owners will have "multiple opportunities to spend five, 10 or 15 dollars on additional content in the next six months or so".

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was another high-profile champion of Project Ten Dollar - EA's new initiative to provide DLC codes to first-hand buyers, who can redeem them for extra content worth around $10.

Brown said 85 per cent of BFBC2 players had activated their codes.

Brown also mentioned "extensive" DLC plans for Mass Effect 2, another of EA's Project Ten Dollar games

had 2 games online last night, i felt like a bit of a noob cause i didn't know the map at all, but still dominated with the Recon class, got top player on my team in my first game and was up there in the second. in the demo i didn't really play as Recon, i preferred the Assault or Medic classes.

enjoyed the short time i played on it, hopefully have a bit longer session tonight.

The servers on the 360 version are fucked.

Yeah it's been causing merry hell, too. I don't know if anyone else has had this yet, but when running, the screen glitches and puts you back a second or two, so you can be running forwards and getting nowhere. It's awful for shooting folk, too, as all you see is the enemy stuck on the spot running while they're actually somewhere else :CONFUSE:
I figured it was an EA server issue, as single player was fine.
I also found that it was most evident on the snow map.

Anyway, it rectified itself later on and I had a good few sessions on Conquest, unlocked a heap of shit on Engineer class (which I found to be pretty cool, actually. Got the hang of that drill now, too, for repairing tanks and vehicles, so built up a few more rewards and achievements), as I'd basically been rinsing both the Assault and Recon class. Really enjoyed the Engineer side of things, especially when I unlocked the two weapons (although the SCAR was pretty much the same gun as the original, but with slightly better scope).

The only downside to this experience (as well as the online issues at times), is the fact that I have work 5 days a week and get tired at about 11pm. Shame.

I also have a 2 year old daughter and a wife in bed while I'm downstairs, and apparently the missus "can't sleep" if I'm not there. In other words, get off the f*cking computer.

Ahh, bliss.

I'm married and don't have that problem! When she's on the 360 I'll be on my PC in my office, when I'm on the 360 she's on her PC in the bed beside me :)

EA really have a fucking chump in charge of their online things. Every year FIFA comes out and the servers are fucked for about a week. Battlefield 1943 came out last year and again the servers were fucked for about a week. They shut a shit load of servers down on the 2nd of Feb, and everyone assumed they were gearing up for this game. And guess what, their servers are fucked again.

They should just let MS be in charge of the 360 version and Live and then concentrate their own resources for PSN and PC. Tis not as if they can change a single thing or patch anything on their servers without MS or even Sony's say so. Everything has to be certified.

I was reading yesterday that some EA bloke had said that 85% of people had redeemed their VIP Map Code, I bet the other 15% couldnt get on their fucking servers!
