Battlefield : Bad Company Series

My only gripe with the game right now is that DICE have messed about with the spotting, it was perfectly fine in the beta and demo.

I can't see a fucking thing on the first SP map. I have the brightness up at maximum and everything is still in complete and utter darkness.

edit

Ahhh gamma up makes it worse. I put the gamma back to default and everything is clear now. I was trying to make the shapes and square boxes appear brighter so everything in darkness would be seen easier but it bears no reflection on how the actual game will end up looking.

really stupid.

Anyone else playing the SP game?

I keep finding that if I go into an raea where the game doesn't wan t me to go - it will instantly kill me.

Like there is a section where a tank appears and you have to hold back and wait it out until air support comes. but me being me I wanted to flank the tank and then see if I could just air support it from behind or the side. but as soon as you get close, even if you're behind cover... the game will just kill you with an instant kill.

You basically have to stick to what the game asks of you and not think for yourself. Really frustrating to find it holds you back so much.

I'm playing it and I haven't experience anything like that, the part you mention I just stayed out of sight and waited for the air support.

You coward haha

I thought I'd start the SP to get the sensitivity and brightness and so on all set up ready for the MP. so I'm not online and having to constantly tweak my settings until they feel right.

There is a similar scenario later on in the game but you can flank the tank and blow it up with C4, if you have the right kit.

Can't stay in a game at the minute, it either lags massively, or I get kicked out.

Thankfully I'm upgrading my internet shortly but it's a bit ridiculous at the minute.

my internet wasn't working at all last night so i never got to have a go online, but it give me a chance to have a go at the single player. i never really get into single player modes, but i'm really enjoying it so far.

I did exactly the same thing. I kept trying to go to the next house and sit in there but no matter where I went, I died. Took about ten deaths before I thought I'd just sit where I was. Not great level design, I have to say.

A bit disappointed with the solo. Not very difficult, not very spectacular, not epic before the end. But I love the characters and story, this squad is crazy.

Not very difficult

What difficulty? I'm on normal and keep dying - and most of those deatns have been random head shot deaths. Mainly due to the games scripted nature. Like being forced to stay in a tank and have 4 rocket launching bad guys only target you and you have to take them out before you can move on. Or you're stuck on the back of a jeep with a gun and have to kill everything and the game throws 4 things at you and a bumpy road to screw with your aim..

Normal mode, I died 1-2 times per mission. Just use cover a lot and keep moving. And don't stay with your team, the T88 S is also a big help for the last missions.
When you're in control of a vehicule, focus on the lauchers or your closest target. I'm a bit surprise that you are stucked, the only difficulties are MGs.

I'm fine when I'm on my own following the team mates around levels on foot, If i get shot i just hold back and let the health recover.

I just keep having random 1 hit kills happening if I go off the scripted path or when I'm like sat on the back of a jeep with a gun. It's like I'll be on the back of the jeep... 2 second into the mission someone will shoot at me and BANG I'm dead. Re load and then I then whiz through the mission no trouble at all.

Why complain about the difficulty when you havn't even played on hard?:FAIL:

Also, 1-2 times a mission seems pretty reasonable to me, on hard I died up to 5-6 times on some of the hardest missions and that is close to frustrating.

I do have played on hard, just not completed it all (more than half).
It's not frustrating for me to die 5-6 times compared to MW2 and a lot of games who are all about skills. BC2 has more checkpoints and it allows little errors.
Also the loadings are not too long, it's not annoying.

Yep. It's hard to stop playing :). We need to be more than 2 !

I see a lot of recons, but when I want to snipe, it never works ! I need 2 bullets even with headshots, it's annoying.
So I'll stick with the medic.

A quick tip that people need to pick up on.

If you see a medic (it can be enemy or friend) die and then your team mate dies. Pick up the medics gun, revive your mate and then if you want swap back to your original gun.

I prefer this to COD, we had 4 of us on last night all playing the different classes.

Loved the way it starts to gel; Sniper takes out the guy on a turret, Engineer is decking the tanks or keeping the vehicles ticking over while you wreck the bases and me and my mate bombed the bases with me running around as a medic keeping everyone going and him capping people with the assault rifle.

We agreed there was none of that "bollox i got him first" going on because the class balance and team-work is different.

I loved it when i'd sussed out how to fly the Chopper properly and just circled around with my mate popping them all off.

What button do you press for the alt fire on the UAV? Or does it have to be unlocked?

I also squashed someone today with the UAV, it was hilarious!
