Arsenal Thread

So we could potentialy end up as the next "manchester united" ie winning the title 3 out 5 seasons for the next 20 years?

Well jonney Mutd is Mutd , Im concern how Arsenal will be Arsenal... in other words they`ve achieved great things for their history and we have achieved great things for ours. Invisibles is one to remember and I know we`ll do more in the future. That why I have a savings plan and some may call me a glory hunter ,because I'm planning my future to be at many open bus parades :SMUG:

Well it's all good and well looking forward to the future but don't forget that the rest of us will be doing the same as well, even though some of us are managing sustained success in the meantime as well.

All different circumstances etc.

I think we would have maybe built on our winning ways, if Chelsea did not get unforseen riches beyond belief. I think we were in pole position to get a few really successful seasons in a row. Arguably we had the measure of united around that point (cue all the stats from Man U supporters to prove me wrong :PP) Then chelsea spent 200million and we couldn't compete.

But when Man Utd have won their titles a few years in a row previously, they were the best. In what used to be the real life, it took a while for teams to then afford to strengthen their team to adjust to Man uniteds supremecy. So they won titles in a row. No coincidence that Man U winning the last few leagues, chelsea could not (or would not) spend the money they previously did. So it has taken them a bit more time to regroup and strengthen.

Just saying, things happen differently to everybody. When we were looking like we may get to a bit of a point where we were going to do really well. We got fucked over.

It could be bollocks what I am saying. But I think it holds a bit of truth. There are so many reasons why Man United have been so successful. There are so many reasons Chelsea were successful. It takes a good manager, some money and alot of faith and luck all into measure.

There is only one league etc. So when a team is dominant like Man U then it is hard to take the league away from them.

When teams have much more money to spend on transfers than you, then it is harder to compete.

so we have had to come from a different angle and see if it works. It has been unsuccessful at the moment. But hopefully it will come good in the end.

To be honest, i love being up there in the league all the time. I love taking part in the champions league every year etc etc. It would be nice to win, but I love Arsenal and I love watching them play. So as long as we are doing well and playing the best teams, I can't complain too much.

So I am not going to get all angry when we are still competing for the league with five games to go. Getting to the Quarter finals of the Champions league and getting beaten by the holders and favourites and arguably the best team in the world.

This in a season where we were predicted not even to get 4th and to do really shit.

We will get there in the end, it just might take abit more time.

to further this bright side view: we should take note that yeah, AW did not buy enough, but when he did buy and the players that he bought really made an impact to our games. good money really well spent. and we, at least I am assured that when AW will buy in the summer will better our play and our team.
and i think he will buy, because Sol will be gone, and Gallas has only been handed a 1 year extension. so fingers crossed.

I'd sugest Akinfeev and Neven Subotic.

Good news: Djourou and Gibbs are returning to full training and Van Persie will soon follow.
Let's hope they'll help.

Come on Arsenal, we need to win this to stay in the fight...and stop spurs getting 4th of course ;))

But I have a feeling spurs will be too strong for us at White Hart Lane, with the current team.

Hopefully though we can do it. Go 3-0 before half time then Van Persie can come on and score another couple :))

Only thing good was to see RVP looking so sharp...amazed! Gomez made (2) great saves from Robin`s efforts. Vermaelen injured :( then bubble head watching the game from the pitch as if he was still on the bench. A great goal from Rose and we lack creativity going forward.

I`m gutted for result ,but smiling for Robin`s return :BOP:

We only showed up in the last 30mins. Thats what happens.

Great goal for spurs, that was the only difference between the two teams. There second goal, what the fuck was Silvestre thinking? really?! seemed to play ok when he first came on (Saying that you say he plays well, just when he acts like a normal defender )

Gomez was the difference in the end. At least two world class saves to give them the win.

We deserved a draw at least. But when you play as shit as we did for most of the game you cant complain too much.

We had our 3rd and 4th choice centre backs for most of the game. So it was never going to be easy.

hopefully Vermaelen isn't out for long. Really need to look at the guinness book of records now, to see if we have had the most injured team ever in one season? really is ridiculous.

Gomez was ridiculous near the end.
RVP looked good so theres a plus for you guys to take out of it. On the other hand, the title is completely out of the question. A win would have put you guys 2nd and gave you the edge in the battle for automatic qualification for the CL but you missed out on that too.

Yeah exactly. Tottenham seem to have the bit more desire to get the result.

Sometimes we just look to relaxed, like we should just expect the result to happen.

So frustrating that we only stepped up in the last part of the second half.

Vermaelen's injury was the same as Gallas' and Arshavin's (calf). Seriously, WTF are the physios doing in this club? This is no coincidence, it cannot be!

Gomes' save from RVP's free kick was something else. And I don't even consider him to be world class.

Once again, terrible display from our makeshift defence. With the exception of Sol, who was massive! But Almunia once again too slow, punched the corner kick when he could have held it and simply not good enough. Sagna was at fault on both goals too (gave Almunia a little nudge in the 1st goal and played Bale onside for the 2nd). And Silvestre was probably wondering for which club he will sign in the summer when the 2nd goal happened.

Not taking the merit from the kid who scored the first though. It's one of those goals that only Tottenham score and only against Arsenal, the lucky bastards!

The top 3 all get automatic qualification, 4th is the only one who have to qualify.

I thought Spurs were going to bottle it at the end (As usual). Gomez really was the difference between a great comeback, I'd say your out of the title race now.

Time for plan B.

Well done Jay, you've finally got through to them. :))

I feel a bit ambivalent.
As a Spurs fan i'm glad they finally won against Arsenal, but i may well be a useless victory for 4th place (and even if they have the 4th place, it would be typically Spurs to blow in the qualifier against the Moldavian champions).

On the other hand i would have liked to see Arsenal become champions...well maybe next season. You guys really deserve it. No need for panicking now, if you consider all the injuries, Arsenal had a great season. Just keep faith in Wenger (and please no Mourinho, he is the anti-Arsenal)

fuck me i nearly choked when i read that your a spurs fan and like to see arsenal win the league :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO::LMAO::LMAO:

Tbh I'd much rather see Arsenal win the league then Chelsea...then again I'd imagine most neutrals would too.

Feel like next season we'll be back to <5 losses for the top couple of teams. This whole 6/7 losses in a season just doesn't seem likely moving forward. This really was the year of prem teams weakening, for several reasons, but it does seem to be the best shot Arsenal will get for a while.

Chelsea will definitely strengthen (whatever happened to their transfer ban anyway? disappeared like any FA charge they face?) and United have to. I feel like this is Arsenal's level, c. 6 losses and a few draws, and if the last few years have been anything to go by, the very top team won't drop that many points.

I'm not so sure. I do think that the top teams were weakened. But I also think other teams are getting stronger aswell. So the losses might still be there.

teams like Spurs, Everton, Villa, Man city. are all coming up.

It is a harder league. But Arsenal do need to spend some money in the summer and at least strengthen our defence (Including goalkeeper) and I think we will be good to go for next season.

Wenger is gutted to say "were NOT mature enough" he couldn`t even find an excuse which is really rare. I still think Wenger is the man for the job.I would luv it for chels to lose at the weekend LUV it!
