Arsenal Thread

Don't worry! There's no sugar!
i'm not as worried as you guys are. pretty confident here.

at least now AW should put Eboue back to SB and bring in at least one of the youngsters: Wilshere or Ramsey.

This is probably the first ever game after which i'm actually still happy even though we lost. Obviously, we didnt play well overall but individual performances of some players were really good. Ramsey was awesome!! Denilson and Song also played excellent!! Rest were ok! Gallas and Silvestre were shit!! I guess Djourou also was OK!!

But i'm happy because playing Porto Home and against their 1st team is really difficult job and we kept good possession of the ball. The only problem was the players did not know what to do when they reached the Porto penalty box. This shows their inexperience. But i'm atleast assured that the kids are really really good. Seriously, if these guys stay, our future is damn bright!!

Sorry mate - have to disagree. I was absolutely furious at the performance of some of the players last night. I have to echo Almunia's comments that we were never in the game.

I was so dismayed at the performance of some of the players tonight. I think Wenger really needs to look at the squad and buy.

Last season, when playing at full strength in midlfield - Rosicky, Hleb, Flamini, Fabregas - Song, Diaby and Denilson didn't get a sniff at 1st team action apart from a couple of minutes. You'd think that they'd now play with some drive and enthusiasm now that they have been given an extended run in the team - albeit due to no one else being available. However, this is not what i witness. Denilson still flaters to deceive. His second touch is always a slide tackle of running to control the ball that's rolled off his shin. Diaby and Song remind of lost brothers - apparently incapable of sprinting, frequently lazy, sloppy in possession, reluctant to shoot, dismal at heading and negligent at marking. Can you also believe that Diaby was offered and signed a new long-term contract with the club? Stupidity know's no bounds.

Seriously - Ramsey and Wilshire were the only players who can come away from that game with heads held high - and these are a 17 and 16 year old showing how it's done!

Gallas needs to be sold - cut the fucking shit - his attitude show's that he can't give a fuck. The 4th choice CB at Man Utd last season was 4th choice for a reason. Silvestre was so shit it wasn't funny. Aparently he was spending too much time watching Cristiano Ronaldo on the training sessions and was trying his flicks all game. Fucking peanut head.

My own ratings:

Almunia - 6 - Could not do anything about both goals.
Eboue - 5 - better, though at fault for the second goal for playing Lisandro onside.
Gallas 3 - Was he playing?
Silvestre - 3 - Sir Alex knew something when he didn't pick this relic.
Djourou - 5 - positional sense and pace saved Arsenal further embarrasment on a couple of occasions.
Ramsey - 7 - Arsenal's solitary shot on goal and only player with guile.
Diaby - 2 - so bad it's not funny.
Song Billong - 4 - annoys me on simply jogging back at players when he lost the ball.
Denilson - 4- did nothing of note.
Vela - 5 - a few deft touches - but was isolated.
Bendtner - 4- another game to forget.

Looking towards the weekend game, Arsenal's injury-list seems excessive. Positive bulletins ahead of Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough are numbered at none: Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure and Bacary Sagna are all doubts, Samir Nasri is definitely out, while Eduardo, Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott are long-term absentees.

OMFG! O_O

The first 5 might come i guess. I atleast hope so. We cannot lose or draw the game on saturday. Last season when we were extremely good, we lost against Boros on their home. So it is going to be tough.

Yet another 2 points dropped... Not a great display by our lads.

On another note, I was pissed with the ref's different criteria for both teams when it came to fouls. Diaby got a yellow without touching that guy. While Arca tackled Bendtner from behind, insulted the ref and his ancestors... And gets away with it!

fucksville...
AW better buy a decent DMF and a good CB.
also: diaby and denilson are clueless on the sides. well diaby is crap anywhere. apart from cesc there's no creative player atm in the midfield.
if they can't defend, they can't attack, what is their purpose?!

p.s.: i know abt the injuries and AW doesn't have too many alternatives. but even McLarren would notice there's something wrong with the team.

Very true. Many bit part players now in the first team due to not buying players in the summer, and injuries to key players.

Show's how shite the squad depth is when we play two CMF as SMF.

Villa winning 2-1 at the moment, so they will move into 4th. January window can't come fast enough, and i fucking hope AW can see it for once, and fill the gaps - CB, DMF, SMF.

God Arsenal is continuing the way they were last season, getting away from the top 3 asap.. hope AW buys something useful not some outcast from chelsea or some other club.
Who do you think could fill the gaps and could be a AW target?

We got let off quite a bit with Man U and Liverpool drawing.

Not looking forward to playing Villa soon though :((

Wenger wont buy anyone and will sell Gallas. You lot may have Adebayor and Fab wanting out at the end of the season if you dont make CL footie.

Wenger has to go at the end of the season now, I've backed him long enough. I was disgusted by the performance at Porto. He allegedly rested players so we could 'beat' Mborough but again yesterday we were poor. His killing our young players confidence by playing them out of position and then taken them of when there's players in their positions playing worst.

Am talking about G Hoyte against Man City. Playing him against Robinho in a team with its captain just stripped and full of no confidence and then subbing him, when the likes of Denilson were awful.

His done it to Ramsey and Vela on several occasions and then he brings on Wilshere to kill his confidence by playing him in a shit system with shit players.

We have no world class players (maybe apart from Clichy), in the past we had Henry, Pires, Veira, Sol Campbell, Berkamp, Gilberto, A Cole and even Lehman had a presence.

Wenger is not Serious, if we can see whats wrong than why can't he. Is he deluded? I've said it before and I'll say it again, if we were any other big team in Europe, Wenger would been sacked by now because they have ambitions.

But not enough, todays teams don't need only 1 world class player, they need that a solid central defender with some L/R back that attacks well a consistent ball taker and 1 playmaker then a direct player that all by himself can make 50% of the work and a true striker that scores of every possible way. Arsenal lack of all these, so if AW doesn't open his wallet and goes shop seriously for filling this gaps in January or you may say goodbye to the names of Fabregas and Adebayor because, even if you love a club That much, no1 stands the idea of "i could have won something, but i didn't", its frustrating for a player.

Look we are pretty much how we was before the weekend with everybody drawing.

We are now 1 point from 4th - This isn't a great season obviously but everybody is flying off the handle. Lets just see how we finish at the end of the season. Then we will know if we need to get rid of wenger or not.

Personally I think we only get rid of him if we come around mid table. But thats just me.

I want wenger to stay I just want him to spend on ready quality players.I can`t imagine Arsenal w/o wenger he still has more to offer imo

Short memories of many fans when we were simply a mid table team. Wenger made Arsenal what it is today.

i think you gooners give arsene a little too much credit....

arsenal had been successful under graham, two league titles (hardly the 27years wait we had!), FA Cup and Cup winners cup...

graham left the backbone to a good team, especially defense (which isnt wengers best area of expertise) and rioch brought in a decent dutch fella by the name of Dennis...

All of which left an excellent foundation for wenger to build on, and to be honest since those players left Wenger hasnt done that well...

How long would you accept not putting in a proper title challenge though? You guys were used to challenging, and winning, the league but now there's so many fans unhappy at Wenger, maybe the players have lost faith as well?

Hope you guys get the players you need, would much rather see you in the top places than United or Chelsea ;)
