Arsenal Thread

Henry was a rolemodel on and off the pitch always...never arrogant, never cheating as far as i remember...just played football for fun and for the team win...

there are not many such players...that is why he will be the best for me, modern footballer, that just was special.

The stick that Cristiano gets on this forum... Henry was a very good player, but never on Ronaldo's level (even if you only count his last seasons at Utd). In his last three seasons at utd Ronaldo won one Ballon d'Or and came second twice to Kaká and Messi. Won one CL and reach another CL final. Won 3 EPL in a row. Won the top scorer with more goals in a season than Henry (and this as a side-midfielder in a 4-4-2 formation!). The numbers speak from themselves.
Henry was a world class player, no doubt, but like others in his day (Raúl, Bergkamp, Nedved, etc.) he never reached the very top (like Zidane, Ronaldinho, etc.). Ronaldo reached that at Utd. So no question that he's the best player in the EPL, maybe not overall, because he didn't play that long in the league as a "grown-up" player, but solely as skill set, yes, not a shadow of a doubt.

And comparing Ronaldo to Cantona... smh. Yes, he was great for the league and maybe had a bigger impact, but Cantona does not even make the 90's XI list (Romário, Baggio, Bergkamp are all ahead of him, plus many others), where's Cristiano is an all time great.

Ronaldo is a winger and hasn't hold the 'ST' role. Titi was a winger who transfer into a 'ST' . That is more telling although Arsenal back then was more direct and depended on spd!

Oh my word. We are SO shit, we look scared!!

Wenger doesn't know what he's doing - wonder how the Wengerboys will feel when we miss out on CL football this season?

I am very surprised how much Pool is in control.. Tho Arse is a counter away from going against the odds imho. Pool look their usual toothless in the final third.

We are so awful this season. Thankfully Liverpool have players like Skrtel so we will always score a goal! :APPLAUD:

THIS IS WHY WE WILL NEVER WIN THE LEAGUE OR EVEN GET NEAR IT AGAIN UNDER WENGER!!!!

We can't see games out, especially the big games away from home.

Hopeless - against 10 men and we still concede.

Sick of seeing that deluded old fool on the touchline.

BobbyBOX and Bebo will be in here again telling us that Wenger has a 50 year plan and we will win league in 2045 and that we need to be patient

Well I have been patient for a long time fed up fed up!!

We wont get 4th, Wenger sacked, KLOPP IN!

Off for a beer or 10 and cry

I bought a pot pie as soon as I was going to take a bite I dropped it . What good is it to have and not eat! Arsenal looked more interested to see What Liverpool were going to do.

atm blaming Wenger is too easy... the players are telling Wenger I rather be home then play today.:BLEH:

You need to see all other angles at this side its damaging. I once had a pic taken and the angle look like I was patting my mates knob.

edit:saw replay :( it spot on he never JUMPED f8ck me

Well that Skrtel equaliser was a byproduct of our zonal marking on set pieces. Sometimes it works, but when it doesn't it makes our defence look bloody stupid, doesn't it.
They basically allow the opponent's most dangerous players to have a free run inside our box. This was always going to happen, even if Liverpool were 3 men down.

We should have some sort of hybrid kind of marking on set pieces. Leave some players covering dangerous zones such as the 9 yeard box edges, but always mark their best headers closely, please. Otherwise it looks just amateurish. That's how it looks, really.
If Allen or Coutinho scored with a header there, you could at least understand why they weren't marked. But a free run and free header for their centre halves? Really?

Anyway, this is the kind of thing we have to live with as long as Wenger is with us. I don't see him changing it now, especially mid-season.

I was watching bits of Stoke vs Chelsea yesterday, and we just have to admit that Mourinho knows how to adjust his team for each different scenario. A cold Monday night at Stoke, as they say, is not a problem to him. Mourinho knows how to fight fire with fire and when you show Stoke that two can play at that game, you will eventually edge them due to superior technical quality.

This is one of the things we should be learning from them.

(2) things....
Wenger played too defensive (plan B) just allowing (10)men to attack. (our weakest dept. is defensive :LMAO: )

Mou knows more about EPL then Wenger...never leaves home w/o your wallet or cellular in today`s world. Wenger has become the bloke that tells his excuses before you walk through his door.

felt bad for Giroud he knew he got honeydicked ! Alexis what a f`n player we have  :bebo: all day long ! Rosciky what a sublime squad player :bebo:

One of those matches when you say if Wenger just brought in a bad ass defender and a DMF, sorted out his tactical monotony, and we had all our injured players back we'd be a top team.
