I agree. I think the end of Arsenal's season is to be admired. They had a few new players, looked like they were going to crash, but still managed to qualify for champs league next year. AND they made it to the final this year only to see it slip away.

I wouldn't say it was a great season by their standards. But at least they managed to qualify for champs league in impressive style, and I think that a lot of fans are very relieved. I also think they are looking very good for next year. I was surprised they made it that far in champs league, because at the beginning of the season i said they would probably not do well this year, but that next year they were going to be trouble.

And for you arsenal supporters who think you got screwed by the ref. Give it a rest. Lehman clearly deserved the red. Or the goal standing and no red. OR the goal standing AND a red. Those were the refs options. ALSO, the fact is the only reason Arsenal even scored was because of poor officiating. Eboue clearly took a dive which resulted in their goal, and furthermore, Eboue could have possibly gotten a red for going in REALLY high and late on a tackle. That's the same tackle Essien got in trouble for this season.

I will say I think that ref is absolute crap, but I don't think he favored either side. The fact, is, Arsenal just got beat.

(ps. i'm glad henry is staying)

ofcourse they have to reject, Arsenal need henry to stay up

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

Best way for Chelsea to get Henry is for Abramovich to buy about 20,000 Arsenal fans. That way, Henry will still be happy in front of his own supporters

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

Put the shoe on the other foot, Goons - what if you won the League Cup and finished runners-up this season and all United achieved was LOSING a European Cup final and scraping a Champs League place? What then?

Last seasonj when United finished 3rd with no trophy, we were ridiculed, made out to be an embaressment. I and many other realistic true honest supporters can concede that season was a total failure, unsuccessful. But arsenal and their deluded bunch want to make out they have a much better futurea and season than United's this season even though we beat them 2-0 and finished above them in the league along with a trophy.

Season? No. Future? Yes.

elaborate please! I would say both United and Arsenal have a very good future. Looking at both squads, each have young high potential players mixed with senior world class players in their peak. There is nothing to suggest that either is more better.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

I think the difference between United and Arsenal's young players is the fact that ours have been put into the team and have excelled in the process. Fabregas, Eboue, Flamini, Senderos, Gilbert, Djourou, Clichy have all come into the side and presided over a record Champions League run for the team. These players have not let us down during this time.

The fact that we are the only club in World football to have 3 teenagers going to the World Cup shows that we have a good basis for a new team.

How much did these players cost? Virtually zilch! Untied have Ronaldo (12million ) and Fletcher who have broken into the team, thats it!! Liam Miller? Oh yeah and Rooney! But as you keep telling us, 1 man don't make a team!

LOL and you tell me im biased!

Ok lets see Uniteds promising young players not the crap ones you have mentioned to favour your argument.

Pique, Bardsley,Richardson,Ronaldo,Rooney and Rossi all young players for the future who will play their part. They got United to the Carling cup final(something the arsenal young boys couldnt accomplish) and also helped United finish runners up to chelsea. These along with plenty more experiencesd plaers who are still quite young like Park,Rio,Smith,Vidic,Evra and Brown. Then we have the senior veterans like Scholes, G.Neville, Giggs, Solsjeaker, Saha, Heinze, RVN and VDS.

Now lets break down arsenals squad and see their main players.Since you already mentioned your young players we'll just go through the rest of the team and see how they are.

Cole, lauren,Campbell and toure prove arsenal have a healthy defense.

In midfield you have ljunberg who seems to be past it only managing 2 goals this campaign. Pires another who is past his peak and looks to be on his way. Hleb is young and a good player. Gilberto seems a good senior member. Diaby is good young player but fucked his ankle severly so its questionable if he will be the same player when he gets back from that sick injury. Arsenal seem to only have 3 midfielders to shout home about.

Up front there is Henry, Adeboywhore, Reyes(dont know what use this guy is except for winning freekicks) and Van Persie. Henry seems to be the only world class striker out of this bunch.

Theo Wilcock, I wont even go into cuz nobody knows anything about him except that the most difficult defender he has come up against is Johnathan Spector of Charlton reserves.

As i said before i believe both teams have a good future. But from breaking it down there quite clearly seems to be more weaknesses in Arsenal's squad.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

Lets not forget that we loan most of our young players out (who btw do great at their new clubs) and also the fact that we have top players in our first team that make it harder for younger ones to break through.

Arsenal letting so many young players play is just a sign of not having enough quality in the older players in their squad so they HAVE to let youngers fill in.

Good point and very true.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

Well you guys make alot of sense, but I`m drunk so....whatever?I think you only get better each time your on the pitch and not the bench. It`s not the same when your in practices running drills and defending or scoring. When you start in a match it says the Boss chose you 1st.That players confidence just grew, that why saha played great towards the end.

In all honesty I love everything about Arsenal, are they angels(Hell No)do they always play fair(Hell No)do they whine(Hell Yeah)do we accept defeat(Hell No)my baby girl said to me about AW "papi who`s that skinny old man?" and said"That`s your grandpa!" Like I said I love everything about Arsenal.....Nuff said

What I say always makes alot of sense. Its just you get some fans who are in denial about certain things and cant handle what I talk about. But the bottom line is what I say cant be refuted. Im glad an Arsenal fan has finally acknowledged that fact. Its also nice to see another fan openly admit his side is not the best or most honorable. Some people are afraid to admit their side isnt the best as if something is going to happen.

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

The fans here are learning whether we see the result or not Damn beer makes me happy

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

And another thing, how can you expect people to take you seriously when you use dumb ass words for our players? Adeboywhore and Theo Wilcock. Its laughable and shows a complete lack of maturity on your part.

lol just cuz I fail to spell certain players names correctly doesnt mean my arguments are any less valid. Lighten up. You arsenal fans are so uptight. Is there any more pet peeves you have about me that bothers you?

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

I don't think anyone will deny that Arsenal have had a great CL run, and the young players did really, really well given the circumstances. But still, league form is a better indicator of overall consistency, and the fight for fourth was indicative of the difficulties you've unfortunately had this season. If Cole stays and Arsenal bolster their midfield they'll be a tough team next year, but it will be interesting to see if they're competing with Chelsea. I still believe that any day Henry isn't on the pitch they're just a good side, need him to be great.

Still I hope Arsenal do get stronger next year, we need more teams taking points off of Chelsea!

Re: The ARSENAL Thread - Henry Stays!!

glad to hear that henry stays, it makes our league alot better and makes for a better challenge to chelsea.

Well, you can twist that around any way possible. Arsenal are blooding their youth, and we have plenty of players out on loan elsewhere, who are performing admirably. I am sure it is the same for Liverpool and Chelsea. Plus other youngsters who are doing well in the Reserves and, especially two who have been ripping up the League (Bendter and Lupoli - look them up).

And in regards to the earlier post about our quality in midfield. I partly disagree with your summation of Ljungberg. He hasn't done it scoring wise this season and that has been a dissapointment but he has contributed a lot, especially in the latter half of the season. His performances leading up to and including Wednesday's final were of high calibre. Pires, with his age, is past his peak but is still an important clutch player. The midfield is an area that I think Arsene will try most to improve this summer, especially with Pires' age and possible transfer.

Not only that, but vital for us if we want to challenge United and Chelsea next season!

Said it before elsewhere, but I think the scousers will be the biggest threat to Chelsea next year. They're as solid as Chelsea and just lack a decent forward. Utd and Arse will leak too many goals I think to challenge for top spot. Hope I'm wrong though, becaus eit could signal a revolution in the prem to boring defend at all costs football like those two play.
