Arsenal Thread

chin up boys. We can be proud of the team tonight. It was a very hard task and we got done by the referee.

The Walcott offside, the time wasting and all that...

Just checked the match report on BBC and UEFA.com just to make sure... Manuel Neuer DID NOT get a yellow card for that pathetic time wasting. Koscielny did, though!! Would you believe that??

It's stuff like that, you know? Does my fucking head in!

And Wenger better not say a word, otherwise you know... every year, every year we get fucked by Platini's clowns, FFS!

Yeah, given the way Arsenal has been treated every year and what happened to United this year, I just might be beginning to believe that!

England should just seperate themselves from the rest of Europe all together, then form some Intl competitions w the US and Canada aside from the domestic competitions. Huge TV market potential, loads of sponsorship dollars/pounds, win for everyone. Hell, half the EPL is american owned already :P F those wankers on the mainland ;)

Same story as last season. Elimination by 1 goal feels harsh, but we should not have conceded the 3rd goal at home...I don't like to criticize Wenger with so many people on his case already, but Walcott upfront in the first match was destined to be a disaster.

Hopefully, this win instills some sort of confidence in the boys that they can grab the 4th place spot.

But wasn't Bayern uncharacteristically weak ? I hate to rain on your parade, but IMO Arsenal was also rather poor.
This simply was a poor match and Arsenal had a unique chance to go through, because we all know that it will turn out to be the weakest Bayern of this season.
I'm sorry, but if i would be an Arsenal fan, i would rather be disappointed after this match.

And about the ref: he was bad, but both teams suffered from it. He denied Bayern 3 obvious corners in the first half alone...

Still, i would have liked to see Arsenal get through...

But why were they weak? I don't think we played that well, but we had a game plan that worked well. It contained them somewhat and they couldn't find the fluency that they had. We were more disciplined at the back and broke down a lot of their attacks. We pressed them and it paid off.

If Arsenal has a poor day and a lessor side beat us it is always paraded how great the team played etc and they deserved the win etc (Even when we have higher posession, shots etc).

We beat Bayern one of the favourites to win it at their ground and scored two goals against the most miserly defence in Europe. We made one of the best goalkeepers in the world look desperate and a fool and we had them cowering in a corner for 5 mins.

We are proud of the team, but I don't think anybody is thinking we played amazing. We hope that we can build from this result, but knowing Arsenal we will play shit against Swansea and Arsene will say that last night took a lot of energy out of us etc etc

I don't think Bayern played well, but we played our part in making them not play well, we weren't great, but we did a job against one of the best teams in the world, I think we can enjoy that fact :DD

I enjoy the fact defensively we had a decent game and Fabs looked good, maybe he will get a few games more and redeem himself? who knows, I would like to see it and call him Fabulousanski instead of Flappyhandski ;))

We also didn't have 3 of our best players playing.

I can see your point Bobby and a couple of posts ago i asked myself if Arsenal were that good or Bayern weak. Maybe Arsenal made them play weak.

Like i said, i don't want to spoil it for you guys, you have every reason to be proud of the players yesterday, but this is not the Arsenal i like to watch (and frankly, who of you should care about that).

On a positive note: Rossicky played a hell of a match. He should start more often.

PS and off-topic: just published a new piece for the blog...finally.

Definitely not the way we want Arsenal to play, but at the moment a win is a win, so I get your point also. When you play against a team much better than you, then you have to resort to trying to nullify their threat (Much like what other teams do to us being defensive and we moan about it )

Hopefully in the not too distant future we can match a team like Bayern and play the way we want to play, instead of resorting to playing like this.

Yeah as I said a couple of days ago, it might be a bit of a blessing that Wilshere is out for a bit and Rosicky plays, hopefully anyway.

I will go and read your blog post now! :DD

Of course i'm a litle bit unreasonable. As a "neutral fan" (this doesn't exist) i want Arsenal to play attractive. I prefer them to play attractive and go out, but of course fans will never want that...personally i don't care if my favourite team wins ugly against better opponents, but i also want the to play attractive football for most of the time...

im agree with this , this bayern was so poor , I can't even believe how poor they were !

but Arsenal wasn't good too , if they were a bit better they can go on semi final , I would even say Arsenal team was even a joke last night , way how they try to make some passes seems lke its training for them and they were joking , if they took match more serious and try it harder than I think they can beat by 3 goals that weak bayern of last night ! they did so many wrong passes and really pised me off , I would love to see arsenal beating Bayern by 3 goals last night !

before match I didn't even think arsenal could take a draw right there , but for whole match I was supporting arsenal and I really get pissed off from that poor passes (its almost same feeling as when Liverpool lose a match and play some bad passes and some players dont give 100%)

anyway at last they take a 3-3 and didnt go with shame out of CL !

What a lacklustre performance in the first half. Well deserved lead for Inter. And what a chance Adebayor missed.
Adebayor, Gallas, Livermore, Walker: not good enough.

I'm sorry...i actually put this in the Arsenal thread...i suppose it's because i come here more often. Well good news for Arsenal fans: 2-0.

Typical Spurs, it should have been 4-0 but Cambiasso missed a big chance. And not that Inter is playing well.

3-1 now, Adebayor after a solo by Dembele.

PS: sorry to all Arsenal fans...but i kind of find this funny.

Nothing funny about it imo, Tottenham still losing 3-1 against a very average Inter.

The only funny thing is that spurs are crap without bale , exactly how I thought !

Inter has a very "poor" team this season and they beat spurs 4-1 , and people making this spurs team so strong ? Not really ! No bale - no spurs !!!

It will be interesting to see if Wenger will continue to play with his defense. Wouldn't be surprised to be a bit of a shakeup on that line over the summer transfer window. Don't see the likes of Vermaelen wanting to sit on the bench however, wouldn't be too terribly shocked if he'd move elsewhere.

Good win, defense looked solid most of the time, the attack was bad though.

And...

Gervinho scored! :D

Vital win that one.
Cazorla owns this team, he's the main man. When he has a bad day we struggle, however today he was really good.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was excellent in the first half and was denied by the crossbar twice.

Walcott was too quiet today, Giroud lacked a bit of quality (but still worked his socks off and provided the assist to Monreal), Arteta wasn't at his best again and Diaby was probably the worst player on the pitch. We know he always struggles with injuries but there's a bit of an attitude problem there too. I saw him losing possession in the most silly manner and then jogging back, seemed he couldn't be bothered?
He also wasted a few good opportunities where he could even have a shot at goal, instead he was dwelling on the ball and trying neat tricks... I can't forgive players when they do that. It's so stupid!

Arsenal deserved thoroughly the result. Fabianski didn't have to make a single save and that shows the defence was very good - apart from a Jenkinson cock up that originated a chance for Michu, but fortunately he put it wide.

Koscielny and Mertesacker are looking really good in the centre of defence. I cannot see a way back for Vermaelen right now.

Great win and now we wish other London rivals will drop some points.

This game reminds me of Arsenal vs MUTD...Swanese was the Arsenal that moves the ball everywhere made some mouth dropping movement ,but like Arsenal rarely attacked the final 3rd. We were like MUTD that sat back a little and was cautious and then made our move into the final 3rd.

We held composure and let Cazorla be Cazorla and the substitution made an impact Ramsey n Gervinho had the strongest leg at the end and gave us a joyful end.:))

Our last games are winnable except for Man United at home, but if we go into it on the back of 4 wins and being at home can be good for us.

Also Newcastle Away on the last day of the season might be a problem, but it isn't a bad run of games and we should really take advantage of it.

I know that there are no easy games in the Prem and us being Arsenal, we can lose against anybody, but if they are serious about getting that 4th spot, then it is doable if we can get the results.

Also Spurs and Chelsea getting through the Europa League is great and hopefully we can benefit from that.

It shows Wenger still has balls after dropping Szcz and Vermy and hopefully it will be a masterstroke and push us forward.

This period will show what we are made of.

I know I'm getting carried away but it would be amazing to see Arsenal end up in 2nd place, which is quite feasible.
