Arsenal Thread

Why is he resting Szcz?! very strange. No Sagna, Wilshere and Szcz it is going to be a bit harder......but WE WILL DO IT!! :DD

I'm back from holiday.

Trust arsenal to remind you why I fucked out off this country for a month to get away with the stress this team gives me

You kept posting in here :PP

EDIT: Just in time for us to get bummed and you can ask me again if I think Wenger should stay :PP :PP

Did you all see the excuse Wenger gave for resting Szczesny? He says Szcz "played too many matches and this is mentally exhausting. He needs a breather to regain his confidence because the pressure has been too much for him, this is only his second season at top level, bla bla..."

To which I say: NO SHIT!

I don't want to bang the drums once again over this, but I have been pulling my hair in desperation for the past 2 or 3 seasons over our keeper problem. One that Wenger chose to neglect.

You don't need to be a genius to know that you can have problems having as your number one a 21 old keeper (although talented in some areas, still very green and quite erratic).

Now the cherry on top: to replace our 'shaken' first goalkeeper, an absolute mess of a man, Lukas Fabianski. Even Mannonne played more matches this season (13 times). I think Fabianski didn't feature yet this season. Why not throw him into this away clash with Bayern?! Unbelievable!!

Our goalkeeper problem is an old one and goes entirely to Wenger's tally too. The way things are going, I'll be asking for his head come the end of the season.

UPDATE:
Now some news are emerging that Wenger might "rest" Cazorla and Walcott too!

WTF? 'Rest' players for a CL knockout clash? Plus, the Everton match got postponed. This squad doesn't play football for 10 days! Who needs a freaking rest?

Think of the travelling Arsenal fans! What a disgrace. How disrespectful.

This is not making sense at all. I'm still in disbelief and I don't know what to make of this...

The szcz thing is very odd, maybe he knows we are going to get bummed and doesn't want him to be a wreck for the last 10 games of the season.

Look I don't like it, but Wenger is just thinking what all others are and that is the chances of us getting rhrough are slim even with our full strength team (Which we wont have anyway) so why make them play a match where they have to go fucking mental and give everything and then risk the chances of us losing to Swansea on Saturday much more likely.

He is being as real as everybody else and has to make a tough decision, because even if we get through this and into the next round by some miracle, the likelihood is that we will lose anyway.

Getting 4th is more important.

But if we lose tonight and Swansea on Saturday (whenever it is?) then people will be out for his blood, so he has really set himself up big time.

I'm not happy about it, but I don't think he is being disrespectful he is being realistic.

Looks like the team will be as strong as possible?

Arsenal team: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Ramsey, Rosicky, Walcott, Cazorla, Giroud

Subs: Mannone, Arshavin, Vermaelen, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diaby, Gervinho, Coquelin

Weird one that. It came up on many news sites. Maybe Wenger trying to make the Germans field a B team? Or underestimate us?
Anywhoo, the decision to drop Sczc for a man who saw no football action all season looks strange enough for me.

Let's see how this plays out.

If you want a giggle, watch Neuer dive on that goal. The ball has already hi the net and come back out, and he still chooses to have a go. Bizarre.

WTF ??????

What a pity, second goal came too late.

Never thought this Bayern would be so weak, or was Arsenal strong ?

Man Arteta was annoying there. The captain? You must be kidding. Not saying Arsenal could have come back with 4 minutes left, but he was a one-man time wasting machine...for Bayern. A player of his experience has to do better than that. Terrible free kick followed by 3 needless fouls.

So close. :(

Proud of the boys though, if only they would play like this every week...

That was very close indeed...

But man, I gotta say, Fabianski was rather immense tonight! :CONFUSE:

in the words of SAF"typical German"

munich are shite! we had flappy in goal ffs! They don`t deserve the crown . I`m supporting RM although they're lucky to even be there imo.

Well we nearly did the impossible. Proud of the players there, the game plan was good, although we didn't create much we defended well and I thought Fabianski played really well.

Arteta was a bit of a week link near the end I don't know what was wrong with him?

If our passing had been better overall we may have got more from the game but we were too sloppy at some points.

Suprised by Bayern and the way they played, but we beat them 2-0 at their place, they are one of the favourites for the Champs League and they are notoriously hard to score against, so a lot of positives from this game.

But the same questions as last year with Ac Milan, why did we play so crap in the first leg?

Anyway, I hope this gives us confidence to go on a 10 game unbeaten streak, because that is what we need if we want to be back in the Champs league next season.

I was yelling at him to calm the f! down I must admit this is the 5th time I heard the commentator in a match. He is the best , I love him he is better then Mr Tyler imo.

this was a realy tense match for both teams...Bayern were in shock, also the fans... Arsenal acually won in their stadium lol and were close to make them even more upset..

Bayern missed Ribery and Schweinsteiger...Arsenal were impressive tonight...

Agreed, Fabianski was great.

Neuer was pathetic after the second goal, really hate it when keepers in general do that. Bad sportsmanship.

I think if they're allowed to dive on the ball when it's out of play, then the players are allowed to try and kick it while it's out of play.

That'd be fair to me.

Ref was really pedantic which played into Bayern's hands at the end. Arsenal needed some street smarts.

Manuel Neuer's antics alone would have resulted in +1 minute loss time for any serious referee. But the match saw also some 5 subs? What a joke only 3 minutes added time! What a disgrace.

This is the kind of thing that pisses me off. There was also a high kick on Rosicky. Nani saw red, the Bayern player didn't. There's no consistency from these UEFA refs.

But we have to look at ourselves too. We had plenty more time before the 90 min mark and the team lacked a bit of pace and urgency.

All in all, this is the best outcome any of us could have hoped for. It was a dignity saving performance that hopefully encourages us in our League campaign.

Having said that, I'm fed up with being knocked out by so little. We have to look at ourselves. Last year the team imploded at the 0-4 San Siro trashing. Then we won 3-0.
This year, the story repeated itself in a way. It gives us the idea that this team is underperforming and we're losing it due to the nervousness of the 1st leg.
If we play the 1st leg with some concentration and composure for a change, then I think we can match some of the strongest teams in Europe.

I was shock to see Rosicky that must be his 2nd start this season (I love him). Giroud n Artea needed to calm down and how unlucky was Gervinho missed goal :CONFUSE:
