Arsenal Thread

Well good stats there ,BUT we are paying more then last season RVP was 70k vs. Oli55k, Pod100k & Santi 70k :P
BlackBurn that would be interesting ...

Not adding assists into that either and if we would have kept van Persie he would have been on at least 120k a week etc

My point was that we aren't missing Van Persie as much as people would think :PP

Thinking real sloth like I understand that RVP needed a move to freshen his desire. Fabregas, Nasri and RVP all played at one time and were no better/worse than we are today!

Nasri n RVP couldn`t bring us the Carling Cup at the final :P . Its like steering and producing the best formula for the entire season.Sorry to go off topic w/ such pointless babbling . I`m just at the point where 4th place is not even special tbh. Its an under score for a paycheck for the board members.

___Fabregas__Arteta__Wilshere____

Cazorla_______RVP___________Nasri

Wouldn't have been bad :)

Problem is that even with that the defense would have still been poo :P

(tho you may never have lost possession with those 6!)

True but you don`t get it! Wenger wouldn`t look at Cazorla. If, Fabregas n Nasri was staying. He got Cazorla w/ Arteta...That`s the problem. He rather use powder milk :) Wenger fears the production line , he needs players polish for the market . That`s with a paid stadium :JAY:

Arsenal should be looking to buy some players with the money Arsenal have. 70 mil i think ? Instead Arsne Wenger thinks there shouldnt even be a january transfer window.

On the other hand you can't say the other fans are angry without a reason. Wenger is refusing to strengthen his squad and I can't see why.

We are 3 days from transfer window deadline and not a hint of new signings. Meanwhile everyone around us is getting stronger, including some direct competitors for CL spots! Tottenham seems to be edging closer to signing Holtby and Everton has just agreed a fee for Leroy Fer.

I live in the hope or hearing news about a new Arsenal signing. I'd settle for a new kit man. Anything!

I don't think anybody is saying that other fans are angry without reason?

I put it on here to highlight how split opinion is and fans fighting each other shows that.

Holtby seems like a good player and I haven't heard of Leroy Fer (Due to my ignorance probably) but would you say they were amazing players...or are you just pointing out that Spurs and Everton are buying at least one person?

I don't think Wenger is refusing to sign players and there have been plenty of hints in the media that he is looking for a striker and a midfielder, so I would have to disagree on that.

But nonetheless it is very frustrating that we haven't bolstered our squad, but then again just buying people for the sake of buying them (Which Newcastle seem to be doing) won't necessarily bring any improvements. It could just land us with more deadwood with high wages.

It's a tough one, I want to see a couple more signings, but I don't want him to bring in ok players, I want good quality players and they are hard to come by in January.

The ends won't justify the means. Why hope for something that won't happen. You're a cat chasing a flashlight whiling we're here waiting for you to stop and move on. Wenger has a terrible record of buying during this window. If , he buys it will be a club strap for cash. The waiting day will be the last day ' my banker lives next door' that's his way of letting those clubs know . You come to me!!!

Good Lord , not eating extra cheddar sharp has made me brilliant .
WARNING : I'm eating extra cheddar 2 night FFS!

Leroy Fer seems to be doing quite well in the Dutch league and he was called by Van Gaal for the Dutch National Team just recently.
I don't know much about him but I'm saying it to illustrate how Everton improved their already strong midfield. IMO we needed a midfield signing more than Everton, but we're not the ones running the extra mile to do so.

When Wenger signed Arshavin in 2009 it only happened in the last minute of the winter transfer window, but the negotiations were all over the news. This time around we've got nothing going on, which suggests there are going to be no signings at all.

At this point we all should be expecting no signings. But I'm actually shocked. I'm watching the lack of activity in disbelief.
If Wenger doesn't get his squad performing an excellent 2nd half of the season, I think he won't get away with this.

I don't think he will get away with it either, but I still don't agree with just buying players for the sake of it. If we signed Leroy Fer would you be satisfied that we got the player we needed? Is he the midfielder we need? And do Everton really have a really strong midfield? (talking depth as well in the squad).

Things are a lot more hush hush than when Arshavin was bought. There are links to certain players and Wenger has hinted he is looking. I think he is looking, but i'm not holding any hope that he finds a player he wants that he can get now......but it is still possible.

If he doesn't buy then his fate is with the gods and relies on diaby and Rosicky staying fit for the rest of the season along with no other longer term injuries to key players. It is a big risk and if it doesn't succeed the shit will hit the fan.

This sums up the split between Arsenal fans at the moment, it's sad to see. But it is obvious Wenger still has a lot of support from the fans.

Looks like Usmanov sticks his head out once again ! Anytime there is thunder he seem to be the lightning.

Here is a great interview with Wojcech Sczcesny, worth a read: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jan/29/wojciech-szczesny-arsenal-defence

A lot of maturity for a 22 year old if you ask me. And he is absolutely right when it comes to the balance in our team, how much our defence gets exposed by our system and all that, as we've discussed here before.

It is a good interview and he is very honest, I really hope he can become a very good goalkeeper and be our number 1 for a very long time.

Huge game tonight and one we really need to win! Lets hope the good Arsenal turn up and not the indecisive, half arsed one.

If last performances are anything to go by, we could expect a half arsed first half and then we'd stick 3 past them in the 2nd half. I'd settle for that as long as we win :D

Exactly 3 points is all that matters, but it would be nice just to do well for a whole match and be the better team and win.....I miss those days ;))

I'm not a fan of Sczcy...he will never ever be a top GK. He has no reason to improve . I can't believe RM vs Barça are playing tonight as well.

He will want to be a top goalkeeper and be Arsenals number 1. So I think he has the motivation, character and potential to be our no.1. Although whether he will or not depends on a lot of things....hopefully he does succeed.

I haven't seen anything that would make me think that he can't be a very good keeper? I'm surprised you have?

Sczney wont make top top goal keeper.

Arsenal should be doing their best to sign Begovic from Stoke. Superb GK.

Is this a sarcastic dig at the English presses' reaction to De Gea? If so, good job sir.

If not, I wholeheartedly disagree. Szczzcezeyny is great.

Yep, Jamie 'Top Top' Redknapp was who I was impersonating.

But I do like Begovic, I think he'd do well at one of the 'bigger' clubs.

Sczney will be an excellent GK. He has the confidence and ability to do so.

I never understand why he's still at Stoke , hes great keeper and I dont know why a team like Barcelona don't go for him , I like that guy really much I think hes one of the best in Premier League with Joe Hart !

big match tonight , hope Liverpool win it , Im sure it gonna be a great match !

agree with that LFC Albania. Apparently he has told Stoke he's going to leave in the summer and wanted a move to Man Utd - dont know how much truth in story though, probably newspaper BS.

I just think any player NOT fighting for a spot is endanger of losing that extra edge. He has no equal you can't believe he's motivate by his own expression of omission . Remember he was brave enough to call Wenger scared to give him a chance. He's not that same person is why I say such. You get another GK you'll see another Sczcy is my point.

IMO Szeczny (that name !!!) will never be a a very good GK, average at best...Great GK need presence, he doesn't have that...
Arsenal should go for a good GK. Of all the big clubs Arsenal have the worst GK...by far.
