Arsenal Thread

Bit of a shitter for you lot. Reminds me of when you beat us 3-0 at our place after Boyata got sent off in the first couple of mins. Wrecks a game but I would have been fuming if he got away with a yellow. Stopped a clear goal.

2-0 up but I'm pissed off that we've just decided that we've won and we're gonna play keep ball. I hate keep ball at any time but so early? Kill the game off first ffs

I feel so sorry for Arsenal supporter these days. The club is falling further and further behind each and every year.

Talented little players up front but a Championship level defence. Every centre back is a disgrace to the Arsenal shirt I feel (even Vermalaen)

Seems like we played a lot better in the second half. But Kos ruined it early in the first. Playing with 11 men is hard enough against city, but 10 and then the goal soon after just knocked the stuffing out of us.

I have a feeling this month is going to be shitty.....hopefully not, but we just don't seem to have any bite to us at the moment. We need some new players to beef up our squad and give us more options.

If Walcott's manager is making talks about new contract difficult, somebody should show him today's match.

That red card for Kompany was a disgrace...

Im back from the game.

my god was it freezing out their!

on to the match. atmosphere was brilliant, we got behind our team throughout the game. no silence or anything. City fans were vocal too dispite only a few of them their.

On to the game.

Sorry but what was that penalty all about? i saw nothing. was shocked Kos got sent off as to me and the other 59k fans it was not a pen nevermind a sending off. what a fucking joke the ref is.

he ruined the game big time. the 1st goal city scored was a joke. that was never a free kick! but arsenal were switched off and wasnt prepared so 1:0 down with a man down. game over really.

ref spoiled the game big time. it was a tall order playing city with 11 men but 10 men and a goal giften by the ref? no chance unless city hand us the opportunity which they diddnt.

Overal the lads did the best they can with the handicapped they had throughout the match. i cant understand why Diaby was playing? he is not match fit and has been injured since last summer. why play him in such a high profile match? Play Ramsey instead or Ashavin.

Definiteyl a pen, but probably the first time I've ever seen a player sent off for that kind of challenge.

If you're arguing that he's impeded a clear goal scoring opportunity, then every single penalty awarded a corner kick should be a red too. Ditto free kicks and so forth.

Dean could have given a yellow and no one would have been too bothered. But he's Mike 'look how tough I can be' Dean. The 'make it okay' red card was an even bigger joke.

Still, imo Arsenal were defeated the second the first goal went in. I didn't see any fight. City barely had to get out of jogging to win that.

pen for what? sorry but i saw nothing and to get the man sent off is a fucking joke as well. anyone care to share a replay of it please?

And i dont know what match you was playing but arsenal outplayed city in the 2nd half. granted we did not play well 1st half but what do u expect when ref plays as city's 12 man, assists them on their 1st goal and gets rid of one of our players. brilliant 10 vs 12. nice

Arteta is injured with 3 weeks on the sidelines. Our squad is complete. Good thing we got a reliable replacement in Diaby.
Our defence looks indeed bad, but the goals against stat states a different story.
Also, our defenders are not top top quality, but Mertesacker is great (he had a moment in the match when 2 players were coming at him and he guessed exactly where the pass / play was going and intercepted it), Koscelny is pretty good (though Vermaelen is a bad influence on him), Vermaelen himself is quite good. Gibbs is pretty good and has techniques, tackles well, Sagna was the best right back for some years.
Yet, they look like a clowns sometimes.
I am definite about the cause: the style of play which neglects the defensive side and any cover and help for the defenders.
Example: Today the penalty. It came after a header won at the edge of the box. Against the Ox! This is totally unforgivable. there is no proper defensive midfield (Yeah Arteta also included) to guard the mid area just in front of the defense.

More so: Today we played without any width for 20 or so minutes in the second half because FEO is The Greatest Striker That Ever Lived and Cazorla just likes it in the middle.
Well who's Wenger to boss the players and tell them where they fit in.
FEO's best moments are from the right (or left) side of the box = Winger or striker that bounces off of a main striker.

One thing, fellow gooners: I though Arseblog was overreacting to Djourou's loan. BUT: Koscelny will be banned. Squilacci's just arround the corner. I have never rated Squilacci and was certain this would happen with him.

One more thing: We cannot find space in the opposing half. Did you notice how much movement a team like Swansea has?! Whilst Arsenal just don't care too make a run or just move constantly. The players are just static, mindless, predictable.

Don't get me wrong: I am not bitter over this lost game. I never had any expectations from it. I don't blame the players. Some important first 11 ones just got here.

We just need to find a good manager and give Wenger an honorific position and tell Wenger to sod off with his socialist crap. (I'd like him to be in the Club hierarchy, but there's no way back from where he's gotten in the last few years)

I had lost faith in him during the summer, but still had hope for him, but this madness in denying the obvious status qvo this winter made me think: Just end this let's move on and keep the good memories. It's becoming tragicomical.

Agree it shouldn't have been red but it was Def a penalty imho

And hey I was rooting for the Gunners

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since you were at the game but it was a dead cert pen. Kos just dragged Dzeko to the ground from behind with both arms. If a Professional foul from 3 yards out isn't a red then we may as well do away with professional fouls. No idea what beach is on about with corners and free kicks.

Also a clear free kick on Garcia. He tried to play advantage but we had none. Free kick.

Wouldn't say you outplayed us at any stage. The game was won after the 2nd and we, frustratingly, acted like it. We just walked about passing the ball sideways and back. Pissed me off as we could have overhauled Utd's GD advantage but I guess a win's a win.

I didn't see the 1st half, arrived home for the 2nd half with a match pretty much ruined already. There was no contest actually.
But, not having seen it, I have to ask: did we muster a single shot on target?

The thing that gets on my nerves the most is the innocuous possession, the lack of objectivity and no one taking a shot, you know, the passing it into the net philosophy. It seems we were trying this until the very end, while 0-2 down, which does my head in.

Diaby playing today, from what I saw in the 2nd half he couldn't complete a single pass. But one has to question, why throw him in there so early after months out? I'm a big critic of Diaby as he certainly has his off days, but what was the manager thinking? You have to put this into Wenger's tally really.

Now with the centre backs, Kos will get a ban and we're one Mertesacker suspension or one Vermaelen ankle twist away from entering Squilaci territory.

Now on to Theo: he can play great and score against Reading, he can score his hattrick against an exhausted Newcastle, but where is he on the big matches? He was playing central, as he's been demanding. And we can't even get him to sign. If Theo's signature is what we're holding on for the whole month of January, then we're in serious trouble.

To go through this whole month without any signings will be unacceptable and, what's worst, I can see it happening.

If Wenger thinks he can finish 4th with this squad he's taking a huge gamble. He's neglecting very important issues in our squad and this time around I'm afraid he won't get away with it. We're bound to be found out.
Wake up and smell the capuccino, FFS Arsene!

Actually this squad is more stronger then last season so this squad CAN get 4th but the question you should be asking is "if u think wenger can get this squad finishing 4th" It is a huge ambitous gamble.

I think playing Diaby in such a big game after months out and playing Walcott centrally up against the City defenders was just silly. Diaby should have been on the bench and Giroud should have played in the centre with Walcott on the right.

I think these decisions cost us.....and Kos being a dick of course.

If Wenger is really relying on Walcott to sign as his major signing this January, then we are in trouble. But he will know that if it doesn't all work out, then he will have to go. So he is putting all of his eggs in one basket.

I for one am still praying we get a couple of players in, but as the days roll on it looks less likely.

Well hopefully this evening will bring us some joy before we play Chelsea Away.

If we lose tonight, then I can easily see us losing against Chelsea away and West Ham and Liverpool games are going to be tough.

We need some confidence from tonight going into the Chelsea game, Hopefully Diaby gets a good run out again, but maybe coming on in the second half.

Play the Coq, Wilshere and Cazorla, or I would like to see Ramsey actually play in the middle for once as well.

We just need something tonight and hopefully we have got that something, being at home should be a benefit, but it doesn't seem to be this season.

Wenger is giving some odd response lately.
1. Fabregas will return one day
2. I will bring 2 players
3. We paid back what we owe *stadium
4. I will spend big !!
5. Theo will sign.

He must feel to say things so the media would look daft at a certain point. It's driving me insane!!!

In the meantime QPR seems to be snapping up Loic Remy.

It pains me to see Arsenal doing fuck all in this transfer window. God knows we need another striker and a defensive midfielder.

Wenger seems to be in denial. Earlier in the season he said we were crowded with midfield players. I just can't see how.
Wilshere not long ago was fearing for his career after over 1 year injured. I just can't believe how Wenger takes him for granted now. He is being overplayed, especially for someone who spent that long on the sidelines.

With people like Diaby, Rosicky and now Arteta injured. It's absolute madness not to do something.

BTW, talking about madness, I'm still shocked at that helicopter crashing down in Vauxhall. I live not to far from there. What a terrible accident :(

Thee is a rumour that Wenger is interested in Hest Ham's Diamé...is this even allowed ? Diamé got transferred from Wigan to West Ham in the summer...

He did very well for West Ham.

Arsenal/Swansea should be a great game tonight, there performance against Chelsea in the League Cup last week proves they have more than enough to matchup against Arsenal at the minute.

The rule is that you can't play for 3 European clubs in the same season. So as long as he didn't play for Wigan this football season, he'd be fine.

But if he did, then you're right.

Really good second half display, jack was great and I thought Giroud played really well and should definitely get a start at Chelsea.

Lets hope the performance in the second half goes over into the Chelsea game, otherwise we are going to drop more points in the league.
