Arsenal Thread

Definitely, Bergkamp is my most favorite player ever! :DD

Aye that man deserves a statue as well imho. Loved watching him on the pitch, true footballing genius.
I've always enjoyed the history and tradition Arsenal brings to the league. I too wish I could've had the chance to visit Highbury to watch a game there. In some ways I feel the nineties were the golden days of sports with so many legendary players..whether it's football, basketball, tennis..and I'd throw cycling in there, tho the latter obviously with a critical note attached.

The Walcott situation is annoying, the most annoying thing is the club pandering to him and now he gets to take free kicks etc

That really is the biggest joke, but if Walcott finally does leave then people can't blame Wenger or the board really, because they are obviously trying to accommodate him in every way, including making him the best paid player at Arsenal.

In my opinion if he gets the deal he wants, he will slip back into inconsistent displays and not be that great and go missing when we really need him (I hope I am proven wrong, I really do).

The biggest thing for me for him to stay is to show that we can keep hold of our better players (Walcott this season stats wise is one of our best, even though if you look into it further it tells another story). Politically it is the right thing to do. But I don't think Walcott is worth that money in just his footballing ability just yet and with him taking free kicks etc and how long this has gone on, it all leaves a bitter taste.

That bitter taste will go obviously if he signs and plays great etc :DD

Another good reason is to sign him and then if he doesn't really live up to it, then we can at least get abit more money for him when we sell him and players can also tell him to fuck off next time he wants to take a free kick or corner ;))

I quite like Walcott as a player and IMO he actually had a very good season last season, but IMo he doesn't deserve to be Arsenal's best payed player. What about Arteta and Cazorla then ?

Jonney, i 've see nthe ticket prize for the match against City. I sincerely hope that Arsenal give City a bollocking for that prize.

Missing half of our spine and Nasri and we never do well at the Emirates so I predict the score will be at least 3-1 to Arse

I think City are an excellent bet, if I could gamble on sports (over in the US now where it's banned). Bookies giving good odds - as well they should - been 14 games now that City haven't won away at Arsenal.

But Sunday is just more important to Mancini's team than it is to Wenger's imo. Especially after Liverpool beat United earlier in the day ;)

I really don't know how it will go, all I know is our defence crumbles at the best of times and with City's fire power we will have to play very well to get anything out of it.

If good Arsenal turn up, then we have a chance.

City is playing without Touré, Aguero and Nasri : everything less than a victory is a bad result for Arsenal IMO (given the circumstances that is, not normally).

Yeah but they have 100's of millions worth of other players to fill in, not as if they will be severely weakened.

The one player out of those three that is a big blow is Toure, he is key for them.

Don't get me wrong I would prefer to have them not playing, but Man City have players that can be put into the team and they will still be a force to be reckoned with.

It's a flip of a coin what Arsenal will show up as well, I just hope we are organised and our players perform well, then we have a chance.

To be honest, nasri is no loss for City, he plays a very bad season and is still reacting like a kid.
The fact that Nasri doesn't play is a pity for Arsenal, with him they would face 10 City players and one (Nasri) who play a bad match and would end up being sent off.

He has the brain of a pea.

Apparently it's been 37 years (!) since City won at Arsenal. An impressive run which I'm sure would suck if the Blue side would put a stop to it. I know who I'm rooting for ;-) and so I disagree with YoungGun, screw the draw (even though that would also continue that run)..I'd be perfectly all right with you beating them, haha.

I think Mancini will start with a 3-5-2, which I think would be a mistake.

I'd probably go with something like this:

_________________Hart__________________

Zabba______Kompany____Nastasic___Clichy

Silva_______Milner_____Barry____Kolarov

________________Tevez_______________

________________Dzeko______________

or maybe swap Dzeko for Maicon, push Tevez up top and Have Silva in behind.

I'd be looking to hit Arsenal on the counter either way. Without Yaya there I think Arsenal's midfield 3 will dominate possession.

Milner and Barry in central midfield: typcial Mancini. Only one real creative player in Silva. I'm thinking the same, City will counter.

err, that's what I would pick for this game.

With others unavailable, we only have 2 of Milner, Barry and Garcia to pick from for CM. Garcia is the worst of those three atm and playing him up against Arsenal's nippy midfielders is not something I'd like to see.

With no Yaya and no Nasri we only have Silva available in midfield who is creative.

One possible change would be to pick Sinclair instead of Kolarov, but Sinclair is average and whilst Kolarov is no Bale if you're going to play Dzeko Kolarov is the better bet because of his brilliant crossing ability. He could also score from a free kick.

Other than that I guess we could go with all 3 of Milner, Barry and Garcia but afaic Garcia is a wasted shirt atm.

Dumb dumb move by Koscielny holy crap. Luckily for Arsenal they didn't get punished with a goal on top of the red card. Crazy start to the game.

Don't think it should have been a red card, 10 minutes in and sent a player off? talk about ruining a game.

glad to see the ref's on top form this evening.
