Arsenal Thread

Yeah that was bad, we probably deserve the lead after the half, but not like that.

But of course happy that we are in the lead...just doesn't feel nice to be up with a dive.

Haha, its so funny watching Fox soccer. They are all going mental about it and asking for fines/bans etc

Why is it always a footballing disaster when an Arsenal player does it  it happens every week, with many players, but now Cazorla is public enemy number one.

Again it is shitty and I think he should get a ban, but of course only if every other player that dives gets a ban as well.

So stupid when people pick what dives are worse than others and choose which ones to have a baby over.

Second penalty, second error by the ref.
This one was a penalty, but just before that, Ox clearly pushed the WBA defender. And afterwards he made a Bale dive: he was fouled but boy how he went down, the dting swan...

Not impressed by the Ox today.
Arteta is very good (as ever) and Wilshere had a couple of good moments. One very good attack in the second half until now (81th minute that is).

Arsenal are the better team but both goals are gifts from the referee.

Yeah the second should have maybe been a foul (Although The ox pushed him and he fell backwards, how does that happen? against physics surely?)

But WBA should have played to the whistle and they got punished for it. As for the second pen, blatant and his legs went right across The Ox legs so I don't think it was a Bale dive at all.

All in all great performance after the last few. They showed fight, desire and heart. Along with a solid defensive display, Vermaelen did well, Wilshere was fantastic, Giroud was fighting all match and didn't give up.

Gervinho again frustrating, but whenever he gets the ball, usually something happens, defenders are always on the back foot when he has the ball, if he can just sort out his final ball (and heading ) he could be great.

All in all good performance and encouraging, we just need to keep going now. If we can put that commitment into the next few games, then we are half way there.

Winning games is a lot easier when you get two penalties, to be fair.

1st one obviously wasn't a pen, second one was definitely a foul by Ox. Both hands to the back, pushed him down from the wrong side.

But hey, get some, you don't get some.

I would agree with you it is and I wouldn't be as happy if we played shit and got the two pens, but we dominated the whole match, had quite a few decent chances, two sitters that Gervinho and The Pod should have at least got in. Defensively we were sound and Vermaelen and Mertesacker looked really good.

So yes we won with two pens, but there was a lot more to the game than that.

But offensively, finishing definitely, we need to get much much better.

Oh I agree, Arsenal definitely 'deserved' to win the match, but let's face it - the hardest thing about watching Arsenal is how often they deserve to win but can't actually put the ball into the net.

That's all I'm saying. It shouldn't cover up how difficult the team is finding it to score from open play.

Also, that Podolski miss...cripes...

Of course Bobby Arsenal where the best team, but beside the two penalties they didn't create much and what was created was missed.

About the peanlty on Ox and my using the word "Bale dive". It definitely was a foul, no discussion whatsoever about that, but boy did exagerate his fall...that is what Bale does often lately and why people call him a diver (forgetting that most of the times there was indeed a foul).

I thought we created quite a bit in the game. But yeah we definitely need to do more attacking wise.

But after the last few games we haven't looked convincing at all. At least today I think we showed a lot of the qualities that have been missing recently which is a big plus. Still a very long way to go in all departments that is for sure.

Well very disappointing on Cazorla but not more so of Gervinho not taking his chances. Wesbrom were poor and Jack was up for it and was brilliant . Vermaelen played it safe rather then the hero card. We got 3pts Job accomplish .

Gervinho again frustrating, but whenever he gets the ball, usually something happens, defenders are always on the back foot when he has the ball, if he can just sort out his final ball (and heading ) he could be bought by Barcelona, Machester City, or United.

Had to do it...:)

3 away games in a row now (1 in the cup), this is a big test. If we come out of these with wins, then we can start hoping that they are turning a corner. Anything but wins though and it will be a big disappointment.

thing is you will turn a corner like you always do then drive back down a steep hill afterwards...its the arsenal way.

you will still finish above Spurs in 4th over the long haul which is what Wenger wants but probably wont win any silverware along the way unless you take the League Cup seriously

Looking forward to see the team tomorrow, Wenger said he is going to use an experienced side as there is enough rest for the game on Monday, but I really want to see Eisfield, Meade, Akpom, Gnabry all play.

I think we can start off and see how they do and then have enough on the bench to change it around.

Wow the team is really strong against league 2 opposition. If we don't win this then we really do have problems.

I was hoping to see some youngsters, but not even any on the bench!

full strength side and where losing. boy do i feel like smashing someones face in.

ahh well my steak is nearly ready so i will let that be the highlight of my night

god this is bad, few chances near the end, Gervinho with a ridiculous miss. Arsene Wenger needs to smash some heads ;))

It is like we thought we would win 6-0 or something, everybody is tryingto rush it forward, but it just isn't working. We need to calm it down pass it and stretch them. They are tiring a bit now, this is where we have to take advantage.

If we lose this, the players and Wenger need to have5 months wages taken away and some sort of torture.

Well that was bullshit.

Well played Bradford, if I hear an Arsenal player say they underestimated them, I will go and kill them.

Full strength and can't even beat a league 2 team, what chance do we have against other Prem teams. Don't have much hope for the Reading game, unless our players get a lightning bolt up their arses.

Cup games are always tough. Still, that was almost the 1st team out there today.

Got to solve the scoring problem. Whether it's system or personnel, Arsenal have the quality there to be getting goals, but something isn't clicking.

Maybe go for a false 9 and play to the strengths (midfield)?

great post from another forum:

Eisfeld still doesn't get a look in, neither did Meade, Arshavin can't even get a chance in this or the throw away CL game, and while Wenger is bemoaning player tiredness he goes out and plays all the tired players who need a decent rest, we might not be playing till Monday but another 3 days on top of that for "tired" players would still help. No Eisfeld, no Arshavin, no Meade, Coquelin, not sure if he was injured but him along with Wilshire had that, get the ball and drive forward mentality. Coquelin and Wilshire were the best two on the pitch for us, and he took one of them off. Gervinho lasts a full game again despite being horse****, such a good striker, not even trusted with a penalty.

His miss from 2 yards out was laughably awful, best chance of the game for either side and puts it wide, he couldn't even be as entertaining as Kanu and put it over the bar from that close... thats how bad he is

Chamberlain again, looks promising in terms of energy, movement, but his final ball was horrific, his crossing was completely inept.

This is the thing with Wenger, he'd used to go with a complete youth/reserve side for a game like this, and have the confidence that we could not scrap a draw, but win playing good football, that confidence was felt from the youths to the first team, we're so good out future players can take this game. Now its, I'm so scared of league two Bradford I'd better play my full team, then we lose... and that complete lack of confidence shows in everything we do.

Arsenal, becoming completely pathetic. My main issue with Wenger, the board and other arsenal fans is, this Wenger has been the same for 7 years, and only now are they really starting to get on his back. Wenger 1 was a great manager, Wenger 2, who for me appeared after we lost the unbeaten run, is a completely different guy, different tactics, formation, buying different players, lost his edge and getting everything wrong, is a crap manager, he should have gone 6 years ago.

Well, that was pitiful from Arsenal. Cazorla is the only man on the pitch who was actually shooting at goal. That's a reflex not only of this failed philosophy but also of what happens when you use a centre forward who can't finish even if his life depends on it. Yes, talking about Gervinho. WTF?? What Wenger hopes to achieve with him as a false 9. If you have Messi you can do that, but we certainly can't with this lack of quality in our squad.

Wenger is making life very difficult for himself. No one can live on past glory and his best days are behind. I won't be surprised if we have a new manager come next season.

I think only Mourinho, Ferguson and Mancini are on more money than Wenger. Seriously.

However we are the most predictable side on the Premier League. We insist on playing with wingers, but can't cross. And when, by a stroke of luck, there is decent service from the wings, we haven't got a finisher anymore! You've got bloody Gervinho there. Not a chance to win headers, not a good finisher with his feet either. For fuck sakes!!

To be honest, Gervinho has been abismal not only in his "CF" play, but I'm tired of seeing him coming from the flanks and passing it to nobody or straight into defenders' legs.

Today we didn't have Arshavin (don't know why) and Walcott, nor did we use Gnabry, Eisfeld, et al... some of these guys (especially the former) led the reaction against Reading in the previous round. Well not today, we were utter SHIT.

Wenger is hanging by a thread IMO. Arsenal is a stable job, but he's as close as he's ever been to the exit door.

wenger needs to fuck right off now if he really cares for teh club and wants the best for the club. he is tarnishing it.

Bobby when will u get fed up of wenger? u must be real close to losing it now. Once u do, u know shit has really hit the fan

The fans are being too hard on Wenger. Granted, these are the players he has chosen to sign but Wenger is hardly the Ferguson-type manager who can get 150% out of his players. Bergkamp and Henry have moved on. The supporters need to expect more realistic results from the squad that currently exists. RvP is gone, Wilshere is not quite at the world class level, and the fans cannot look to Cazorla to carry the team on his back. The only chance for a superstar to emerge at this club is through a player like Oxlade-Chamberlain. The board knows this, so you gooners will just have to be a little more patient.

Very few clubs have a manager who has been able to keep a club in the Champions League for 17 consecutive seasons. Not even Sir Alex has done that. Be grateful for what you have.

What's that saying? You don't know what you have until it's gone. Up Gunners.
