Arsenal Thread

Who knows Wenger should know by now you can`t speak to ref unless your being complimentary. He got banned for asking ref why he send Robin off for, whether Wenger was grabbing a ref in tunnel who knows and if Sky Italia got the skinny on that insight. Any is possible but the English media would love that one.

Yes that was because of that twat referee who went squealing down the tunnel.
How could Wenger criticise a superior breed of human being with infallible judgement. He should know better, as UEFA's book of rules say that their referees are untouchable and are immune to criticism, and he who questions their decisions shall pay with their own lives. But UEFA will show mercy and take 40k quid and only ban Wenger for 3 more matches.

What more can you say about this bunch of utter cunts running UEFA? Here we are again. Every year Wenger gets a touchline ban, although he hasn't been doing much different from other managers.

Barcelona complained about the San Siro pitch and they're taken seriously. Arsenal played on mud there more than 1 month before, it was 10 times worse than that, but Wenger is seen as a moody and inappropriate when he makes comments about the pitch.

It's hard not to believe UEFA treats clubs differently.

Hats off to Wenger for coping with this year after year and absorbing all this shit that is thrown his way and still being able to keep his head right. I sincerely admire the guy. I guess I would've put a contract on Platini's head by now.

Sky Italia reported from the touchline at the final whistle that the Slovenian referee actually ran off down the tunnel at the final whistle, shrieking “DON’T TOUCH ME! DON’T TOUCH ME!” as Wenger tried to speak to him about his performance.

About Barca and the pitch - UEFA have basically 'laughed' it off.

I can understand UEFA's reaction (although i don't necessarily agree), it's good to protect referees. Can't judge this particular case because i haven't seen it. But i gree with the genral principle.

I expect we will get kicked all over the place tomorrow, Mark Hughes and Joey Barton will make sure of that, hopefully we don't get any injuries and win the game.

the Uefa Arsenal thing, it just wouldn't be the same if he didn't have some sort of ban or fine.

I think it is good managers can't slag off referees and be completely horrible, but they should be able to say the ref had a poor game, because the ref wasn't the best in that game, so why not say it? If no ref can accept criticism, then how will they get better at what they do?

Funny thing is Wenger wanted a word with the referee. Fair and square. It's not as if he turned to the media to attack the ref.

I don't know how the hell this was deemed improper conduct.
That's the problem with the world. The world's gone soft. I can't think of such things 15 years ago.

Vermaelen had a nightmare of a game... We started the match in a negative way very slow on the ball just out right no fight today! next City at least we`re at home.

Just saw MOTD. Vermaelen had an off day today. Again conceded a goal slipping up on the turf, like in Milan. Maybe he should pay more attention to pitch recognition before the match and go with higher studs when needed. Either that or he's just been unfortunate.

Chelsea won, let's jinx Sp*rs tomorrow. We're still on the up, a defeat would have to come at some point after so many wins. Next is City at home, let's hope the players step up to the occasion.

Yes Wenger should go, he CAN'T sort out a defence, we won't win anything important without a defence, teams like Liverpool being unable to score or Spurs falling to pieces doesn't make Arsenal's defence better, it means our defence wasn't tested(as much we've conceded against teams playing woefully badly on this run multiple times).

The defence for the second QPR goal in particular was SHOCKING, when you see the right camera angle you see the ball go down the right, someone in the middle and 2-3 QPR players suddenly run forward to support..... no Song, no Arteta, there is the back four and a good 30 yards further back at least is Arteta standing still, Song/Arteta/anyone didn't even try to get back and that isn't because it was a quick break, Diakite ran forwards very late, nothing at all would have prevented our midfields getting back first IF they ran.

This is a simple problem Arsenal have had for 7 years, DM's not running back to cover the midfield runners into the box, even when Song is in the box he is ball watching not watching the runs and marking them.

We won't ever win anything meaningful again with Wenger. I won't, and will never base my opinion on how well Arsenal or Wenger are doing based on other teams doing even worse. We're worse than last year, in a worse(easier) league, bought VERY badly and I don't even slightly trust Wenger to improve us in another transfer window.

We've gotten worse for years under Wenger, we will continue to get worse, he hasn't learned a single lesson in the past 10 years in the league, he won't learn any in the next 10, his methods, thinking are NOT working, will not work and will not change. The only way forward is a new manager.

well imo i think you are wrong to say liverpool and co never tested out defence.

Part of being a great defensive side is to prevent the other team from not only scoring, but to prevent them from creating chances.

Arsenal for the past few weeks have done that. I just saw the highlights of the match and had vermahlen showed up today, we could have easily won or got a point their because all of there goals were from defensive retarded mistakes. I saw another chance they had where our backline again acted like idiots when they did a gigh through ball down the right side and nearly scoring.

Had we defended as well as we have in past games, QPR would have no chance. they dont have a player capable of creating something from nothing or the flair and ability to create a well crafted team goal.

We lost today because we diddnt defend as well as our past games. We have played and defended well previously not due to the other opponent being crap, but due to us DEFENDING well from the whole pitch.

I can tell u that Liverpool and newcastle for example played MILES better then QPR yet lost. so i disagree with you saying we only won/made our defence look good because those teams played shit.

total rubbish mate.

Ever since Wenger came out saying he will do business early rather than later, So many names has come out, the rumor mill is spinning sin remedio . I know Wenger has a reputation for leave it so late things has changed.Podolski ? MVila saying RM or Arsenal who ever comes 1st plus first team footy too! We know the philosophy has change giving contract past 30 by season is gone.

Wenger did mention the most important is to secure internal first then external which I fully agree. I really hope we get everything sorted and see what happens to the club in this month (backroom\upstair wise).

Don't give up guys, I still believe in Chamakh:

Yet he’s not deterred, determined to show his worth. Chamakh said, “I left Bordeaux to improve as a player and I think I can continue for this club. My agents have been ordered to reject bids that come from other clubs because I want to prove I can be useful for the Gunners.”

I do too.

The guy is a good player and he can be very useful.

He's just been unlucky that van Persie hasn't gotten injured this year like all the other years. :P

Not only that but Robin has been absolutely on fire and totally deserving of his indispensable status. But as soon as he gets injured and he will, it's only a matter of time, guys like Park and Chamakh will get an extended run of games and get their confidence back and show what they're capable of.

So, which Arsenal is going to show up this weekend? I secretly love weekends when for my own selfish purposes (as a United fan) I get to support Arsenal. Spent 7 years living down the road from Emirates and despite my best attempts still got into it.

What's the injury situation like right now? Do you have 2 fit defenders?

Everybody knows that Van Persie is the EPL that scored most goals in 2012 and it's fairly logical that the number 2 is Rooney.

The number 3 is Clint Dempsey...this is a player for a bigger club. Something for Arsenal?

I always said Clint is a fine player. I saw his story on ESPN once his development has improved so much. He can play behind the striker and miles ahead of Ramsey if Im honest.

I wonder why Wenger doesn`t go for ready made PL proven players , although Wenger admits he almost walk towards the slump in the beginning of the season . He said his experience players made the difference and made the turn around in their season :))

You guys should be proud of your team. What a fantastic match Arsenal played. This was another stunner of a match. Congratulations.

PS: Balotelli should have got his card at least an hour earlier and it is clear now that Mancini is totally losing the plot.

Cheering on the Arsenal didn't feel as dirty as I thought. So well deserved, being a fan of that club must be torture! That miss in the 80th minute by Vermaelen/ Walcott/ Benayoun? Mental.

City didn't take a shot on target all match...
