Arsenal Thread

Maybe Wenger wants to protect them for the Spurs match, since he knows Olympiakos will mostly play in defence and the game may have tough challenges. So, they lied that those 3 are injured so that it does not become clear that Wenger understimates Olympiakos.

Stop aving a go at the fragile lot ;p sitting top w/ injuries i have that standing on my head. I see no weaknest in comparison i dont want some players to come back from full fitness. Lol i think we have a agent on olympiakos :PIRATE:

Only for cl game mate wenger said they'll be ready for spur match...theo,gervinho n kosc.

Wenger also said Wilshire is a quick healer
Arsenal's medical staff have done it again! You have to hand it to them. By miles the most incompetent medical staff in the UK at least.
Wilshire was carrying an injury already in pre-season, then he limped out of the Emirates Cup. After that, they were waiting for God-knows-what (maybe a miracle?) before realizing he needed actual surgery. And now there's the result, his season is practically over. If he does come back in April, so what? He'll still need a couple weeks to gather pace and playing fitness again, and then... season over!

BTW, if Djourou, Vermaelen, Koscielny and Squilaci are all injured... who the hell will partner Mertesacker??

Why are people saying he will be back in April? everything I have read says he should be back 4-5 months? that will be February maybe mid Jan?

Also where are the reports of all of those players injured? and how long are they out for?

Van Persie's contract we will see, why get your knickers in a twist about it now. If we do ok this year he might want to stay, if we don't he might go? etc etc.

Why don't we just concentrate on this season instead of getting riled up over whether players are going to sign or not?

Sometimes I think our supporters just like to be depressed for some reason

What a complete, unfounded overreaction.

To your second question: Song. With the Coq in midfield (who I think is better than Frim but maybe not as cool to hang out with).

It's not an overreaction, if the rumours are true and he does face a lay-off until April that would mean season over indeed, like it was with Vermaelen last season.
But it is unfounded and I hope not true at all. Even so, our rage against Arsenal's medical staff is justified, don't you think?

I think Wenger will choose Frimpong Frimpong III over Le Coq.
Oh my, it's such a waste to play Song as CB. He's been quite a decent provider when going forward.

I think we are all frustrated with the injury situation, but there are other clubs in the prem with more injuries than us and their fans are not bemoaning their medical teams.

There could be many reasons why we have had these problems, especially with Wilshere as it sounds like he may not have let the medical staff know when he was feeling pain etc - they are not mind readers. It sounds like they tried to treat it without surgery and as soon as they knew it wasn't responding, got him into surgery asap? so I don't know what else they could have done?

The thing with Arsenals injuries is frustrating but to suggest we have a bunch of amateurs there is just silly.

These players also get sent to the best medical people over the world aswell to get treated, so are they all shit aswell?

Also it is only a waste for Song to play in defence if we had a full defence to choose from and then put him there, at the moment it is a necessity.

2 shots, 2 goals for Arsenal. Luck was on your side, when on the other hand Olympiakos lost so many chances on goal.

But why should the referee be also on your side? Why didn't he give us the penalty when Chamberlain clearly and with no doubt used his hand to control it inside the box?

And then I was crazy when I said UEFA will protect Arsenal if something seems to be going wrong. Olympiakos clearly deserved more from this match, but UEFA once again proved that there is no justice in football

If the ref gave Olympiakos some yellow cards earlier, then I think they wouldn't have got so many chances. The ref was weak.

Anyway good win with 50% (maybe more) of our first team out.

I'm happy for the win :DD

I just hope defensively we play better on Sunday otherwise we will be ripped apart. If we get a draw or a win on Sunday, then we will be set up for the next few games. If we lose, I hope we don't lose by many.

Great goal by the Ox and also Santos, just a shame we couldn't finish them off, which we could have done. But also with our defensive frailties they could have got a few....but they didn't :))

To say Olympiakos had millions of chances is ridiculous aswell, 5 shots on target each? these exagerations are causing alot of shit amongst the Media with Arsenal aswell. It's about time people stopped exagerating. Like how we are a selling club and we sell all of our best players before their peak, when in fact we only sold Fab and Nasri, if you look at that overall, then we have probably sold about 10% of our players before their peak over the many years Arsene has been with us...but yes we are a selling club to all the frantic, short term people.

Anyway a win is a win with a quite somewhat second team to an experienced champions league side.

Ι would be ashamed if my team needed the help of the official to be saved from losing, as Arsenal did today. The point is that Olympiakos will not progress to the knockout stage, although it is clear we deserved to.

Are you joking? I am taking it that you are, because if you are not, you are extremely short sighted.

The ref let you obstruct and foul us from behind for most of the match, only in the last 20mins he actually started to card your players. So if you think that the ref was on our side, you are very blinkered.

The ref didn't give a clear penalty to us. He saved you from losing. And you still have problems with your hero from Spain, the referee?

Do you get the concept of scoring more than the opposition to win?

If you would have got that penalty then it would have been 2-2 this is called a DRAW where neither team wins. So to say the ref stopped us from losing is stupid.

That was one decision, the ref all game gave you an advantage because of all of the fouls he let you commit without carding you. He basically gave you license to push and kick our players about.

Anyway mate, you believe that Olympiakos are the greatest team in the world and the refs and UEFA are stopping you from conquering the world...if that makes you happy :))

I was sort of expecting an answer like this one from you:
"Olympiakos was better today, they deserved at least a draw and thankfully the referee protected us and didn't give the penalty that anyone in the stadium, including the ref, saw".

Ah, and those fouls you mentioned are not given in EPL because I am watching your league. So it surprises me that you wanted the ref to give them to you. If those never-made fouls were given, EPL would be another slow tempo league.

Hahah, oh this guy Inactive Member (is that a pun on those Pele adverts by the way ;) ?) is comedy gold, pure gold. He must be a WUM surely ? But it's worth indulging him nonetheless.

I wish he was an Inactive Member ;)) maybe he has no grasp of reality because he has an inactive member? :DD I've heard it is like if you cut a cats whiskers off, the cat loses its senses and can't navigate properly etc

What did i predict..if Olympiakos would loose, you would blame the ref...

My favourite team also played tonight, they lost 2-0 against Leverkusen. The second goal was a deflected ball in injury time. Before that, they had some chance to equalise, but they didn't...Leverkusen dserved that win. Football is about respect for the adversary. Respect is alos about accepting defeat with grace...right from the start you behaved like a clown in this thread. Thanks to you i've lost all sympathy for Olympiakos. Well done...

lol Probably blames UEFA for the Greek economy woes, pulling all of Europe to the brink of financial collapse and the corruption in the Greek Super League and the ostracizing of Achilleas Beos of Olympiakos Volos and Kavala's Stavros Psomiadis.

I can't believe what I am reading. Before the match, from my experience wathcing Olympiakos in Europe, I said that most likely, if Olympiakos comes close to win, there will be help from the referee cause Arsenal is a big team.

Now, after the match, my prediction is proved right. Olympiakos played well, Wenger admitted his team won by luck, and the referee didn't give a penalty which every logical human being would have given.

So, why instead of admitting that the referee helped you this time, you try to prove me wrong?

@gerd, I think the sympathy you lost for Olympiakos must now be sympathy for the great ref.

Excuses/Arguments like yours are usually being used by 8 year old kids. We lost, we should work on our finishing, our defenders must work on their concentration -period. That penalty would be very strict if it was given. The referee was very good during the whole match.

How did you know I am 8 years old?

The referee was good, but he fuc...ked it all up when he didn't give such a clear penalty.

And it is not about the defence. It is about Valverde and his "friend" Marcano, who was used in the squad with no reason when Avraam, one of the best in Europe, was left on the bench.
