Arsenal Thread

:LMAO: I have a laughing stock over your spelling of our - Polish national goalkeeper :D I'd 8 2 be him seeing how's his name spelled on this forum :)

Nice squad after these late-bids though :)

eye c wot u did

maybe we should just call him 8-2 from now on? Like Sammy 8-2 at inter...oh wiat hes not at inter but FC Anzhi Makhachkala and getting 20mil per year highest paid ever player..wtf...crazy

So so so sweet to have Arteta. I can love you with relief of heart again, Professor Wenger.

btw, also agree with Pipa's squad but probably RVP and Gervinho will be switched. And Walcott will start most of the time instead of Park.

Last minute transfers Benayoun and Arteta are both players i like enormously, but IMO they are typical Wenger transfers where Arsenal needed a strong, leader-type DMF...it's the first time i will not defend Wenger. He made a mistake here.

We need 2 more players in order to compete for the title but as it stands we have a team that can comfortably finish 4th now.

No doubt when Arteta flourishes those idiots in Barca will try and buy him for cheap saying we stole another barca player :LMAO:

This obvious was a bold move buying men . I really think Wenger will need to be confrontational this will challenge Wenger more than anything else. Grown men that will get emotional and young rich kids who think they are untouchable  The fruit tree will get shaken I tell ya.

Arteta is not great but his experience in the PL is a massive one he will get players to do things he couldn`t get at Everton to do. The defensive department is 75% better filled I really hope we get DMF in the near future. I don`t see too many Egos on the squad most look humble. I think Chamahk will get some good crosses now especially with the new height being added to the squad (Wenger said he wanted to bring height too)

I wonder if Wenger did this or Stan saw these kids won`t solve the present danger.

he can play Djourou there!!

Hmmm - see Gerd's comments in bold. After seeing Welbeck brush Djourou off like dirt on a shoulder... and him unable to organise the defence last Sunday... i would leave him out for Frimpong for a while.

Let me see Frim-poooooong...Frim - pong-pi-pong-pim-pong... sorry got carried away :)

thanks, about Park, i still remember him from World cup, he is great CF, very agile and strong..i think once he will impress you, he will start in first 11.

i have written my ideal 11. but for Wallcott, RVP, Gervinho, Park and maybe Chamakh...this will be rotated definetly..

I think Wilshere will be moved forward, with Arteta being the experience along with Song.

5 players in for Arsenal in 2 days! Must be Christmas.

It was depth that was a major issue so you definitely have gone some way to rectifying it.

well not quite. we lost 4 players and replaced them with 5 so were only 1 player more then last season.

Clichy, nasri, fabreas and even eboue where all decent players

but despite this, i think Arsenal did pretty well for this last days of transfer window, the fans can think positive again..

I suggest you use both hands to count mate. We brought in men anda brought in a few youth players . My son is 16 and he has potiential but without My guidence he wont bare proper fruit . You either grow or your growth will stump. For 6 long years i seen young players with promises that grew into average squad players
this just might pan out lovely. Im hoping for the best with the backline

In a perfect world we would have also gotten a solid physical type DMF and a marquee signing, like Kaká. But I can't complain with what we got :)

As for the DMF position, I think everyone agrees that we need one guy more. Song will be called to the African tournament in Jan - unless he falls out with Etoo, which I hope he does :D
But even so, we know Song has rocks for brains and could get suspended again. So another DMF would allow Frimpong to be introduced gradually into the squad. Soon enough, he will be an excellent DMF enforcer type, Emmanuel Frimpong Frimpong III.

I'm looking forward to seeing our new signings in action! :)

He's not way out of the pecking order, but he is just so inconsistant. I find it frustrating as he can be so amazing, but it is so few and far between.

I can't wait to see our team against Swansea :)) hope it isn't an anti climax.

We have got rid of Fab,Nasri and Clichy but all 3 didn't want to be at Arsenal. We have a bunch of players in that appreciate being at Arsenal and want to do their very best. It will make a huge difference to the team to know that every player there wants to be there and wants to win. It has freshened up a sqaud that really needed freshening.

Lets hope they all do well :DD

Also the fact that Arteta took a wage cut to join us

Indeed! He's like the opposite of MerceNa$ri. Arteta was on around £75,000 a week. I wonder how much he's on now... about 50k?

As for Arshavin, he's pretty much in our plans. He's not an established starter if Gervinho and Walcott are fit. The competition is stiff there, and I hope it makes him give his best.

Hopefully, now with a proper left back, Arshavin would be less burdened, his lack of defensive work will become less apparent and he will be able to link better with André Santos and concentrate more on attack.

PS: So what became of Almunia? Is he a backup for Gunnersaurus?

I think he took a 10,000 cut, so he is on 65,000 but he has a 4 year contract, that should keep him happy at 29.

I hope you are right with Arshavin, if he can get some form and consistancy, then we will be laughing.

obvioulsy a 7/10 player dieing to play for the club and prove his worth is better than a 9/10 player that has no motivation or interest.

I still rate Arshavin highly because he's one of the most dangerous attackers in our squad. Also, to his credit, it's always good to remember how he accepted a pay cut to join Arsenal too.

Arshavin is very inconsistant, but even in his off days, he's capable of passing by a marker and putting dangerous balls into the box. That's something that Gervinho is startint to do right now, while Walcott lacks.

I reckon Arshavin's confidence is at an all time low, but he can go back to the good days with this massive boost our squad just received. A player who scores 4 past Liverpool away doesn't forget to play footie suddenly. I think the problem is more of a motivational nature. Taking that very same match an example, what good scoring 4 goals does if your team mates in the defence let you down and let them equalize 4-4?

Now hopefully we will be more solid and it will motivate Arshavin, Rosicky and all the others again.

Players like Arshavin and Rosiky need more freedom to attack and less defensive duties or burden.

THese players thrive on attack and if we can have solid players behind them and give them nmore freedom intheir play it will surley increase their perofmacne and motivation.

ASking them to perfom defesive duties takes away from their game too much

Can`t get better than this

'I can't remember why, but I came back with an Arsenal shirt and my brother had a Manchester United one

This affinity has grown over more than 10 years and now the loop closes because I am delighted to finally get to play at a team I always supported and where I always wanted to appear eventually.'

Think only Fab is different even though he, nas and Cluchy felt the pressure for bottling it season after season, nas still in pain for Carling Final.

Well who would have funk it! Mertsacker is an Arsenal fan. We are going to take over the world!

Cool innit? :) I'd bet it was around 2000 when he was 15, when we had Bergkamp, Vieira, Overmars, Adams, Parlour, Winterburn, Dixon... I can see where he's coming from.

I was reading Tim Stillman's column about how Arsenal almost left the negotiation table with Arteta, for hesitating to pay him slightly more than the likes of Diaby and Almunia.

God knows this must change at Arsenal. This communist approach to wage bills doesn't work, pretty much like in real life. A fucking chump like Diaby on the same money as a talented midfielder? To reward useless people as much as worthy contributors? This has to change! This must be yet another reason why Arshavin looks demotivated. Being a Russian, he's fed up with communism.
