Arsenal Thread

even if you sell this players, you will have enough money to buy someone with quality.. i doubt the money would not be re-invested...and if not..then i say something is wrong with Arsenal..

Gervinho :NONO: Song :R1 ....Well, If we would of won 3 nil . Wenger would of said I`m confident in my team. Someone forgot to mention to the new guys that Barton is a WUM.

Mmmm... Sack Wenger!!! there, I said it :P

Seriously, "Tippy-tappy" football is not convincing for me. Really, how many shots did their keeper have to stop? You've got to be more incisive than that!

I'm still waiting to see the mental strength. So far we have players losing their heads easily. To be fair to Gervinho, he wasn't supposed to be sent off alone. Once again, I repeat, I've never seen in my football-watching life a reaction like that from Barton going "unpunished". A yellow card for that was nothing. I have the impression that Barton can do anything he likes on the pitch with those pathetic refs in England. He could grab Gervinho by his shirt and drop kick him to the stands and he still wouldn't see red.

To be at least a little positive, just a little, I liked what I've seen from our CB pairing Verm & Kos. And Szczez has got what it takes. Finally we have a goalkeeper. He really attacked the ball at crosses and it felt like he owned the penalty box in a way we haven't seen a keeper of ours doing in a long time.

Gervinho didnt even dive either he was brought down and Barton n Pardew calling Gervinho a cheat for diving even their beloved Alan Shearer says it wasn`t a dive.

Arshavin played across the attacking front RW-CF-LW I wasn`t use to see him in that role. Ramsey w/o Jack didn`t go well together they look like twins telepathic movement. Hard to tell from one game I`m afraid they need a lift imo.

For all the fawning in the media and elsewhere about Arsenal's current football, the 2001-04 side that destroyed teams with lightning breaks and sharp interchanges was a far more exciting - not to mention effective, side to watch.

Joey Barton... what an upstanding, classy fella. I hope Song takes a boot to his nutsack at the home match. He wouldn't even feel it because he has no balls to stand up and fight...

Look what Mutd`s Legend Neville says about Arsenal and Wenger. He makes a valid point!!

So they haven't won a trophy for six years? Well, Manchester United went 26 years without winning the league, Liverpool have now gone 21 years without the title and Manchester City went 35 years without winning a trophy. Tottenham have gone 50 years without winning the league. I grew up as a United fan in the Seventies and Eighties when the club won three trophies in 20 years.
No doubt fans aren`t the same nowadays!

think his convictions for assault would prove otherwise

i don't like Barton, but Song's a shithouse for what he did, deserves a few games on the sidelines.

Oh and Wenger is the biggest hypocrite in world football "i don't understand the red card" erm, your player smacked an opposition player in the face, no matter how soft it was you know as well as i do that it's a red card offence ffs.

wrong. no quality pplayer would want to join arsenal

two reasons

where not a big club anymore and we cant offer 150k+ salary for a quality world class player. simple as that. Most of the money will go in the boards pocket:FAIL:

i wouldnt be surprised if we failed to qualify and beat udinese in the CL qualifier game. If we fail to Qualify and the Board and manager STILLL wont change there views and ways of running the club then we should all give up hope in this club reaching the highest status in football again forever or until a billionaire buys arsenal and Wenger gets sacked

so what? back then, the reasons why they did not win trophies for so long is because they got rid of managers and replaced them with rubbish.

Arsenal are far different. we have the same manager and board that made arsenal unbeaten. u forgot that already? Also it is not the LACK of trophies thats the problem. its the same fucking mistakes being made for the past 6 years.

so united not winning for 20+ years right? i bet they diddnt make the SAME identical mistakes on the pitch for the past 20 years now did they?

Both u and Neville have missed the whole point

I still believe Wenger is a very good manager.

If a sheikh were to come in and dump truckloads of no-debt cash on Wenger, you'd see the dream team you always wanted and all the "sack Wenger!" fans taking back what they said and loving the man to bits calling him the genius of sparta.

Song is no saint, and for me justice was served when Gervinho got the card. That doesn't make Barton any less of a weapons-grade cunt (romagnoli's words, not mine).

No offense to our team right now, but it would not be the greatest shock if this team exited the UCL because of Udine. Wenger hasn't fixed the problems with our squad, that much is true.

Wenger might be a hypocrite some times, but he's 100% right on what he said: it was either 2 yellows or 2 reds. Takes two to tango. Gervinho didn't start that fight, it was Barton who was waaaay over the top. If Gervinho dived, let the ref deal with him, don't go lifting him like that almost ripping his shirt, that was way out of order. I've never seen in my life such an aggressive action going unpunished, he should get a straight red for starting a fight like that.

Funny thing is that cunt Barton falling to the ground like he was shot after the softest touch to his face. And he spent 1 minute on the ground like he was really hurt! I saw Vermaelen coming to him and I thought he would do the same, lifting the cunt by his shirt and telling him to man up
I know I would do it. I'd love to see Barton's reaction to that kind of treatment.

Truth is, Barton manipulates those idiotic Premier League refs like puppets

exactly. Why o why are we waiting until we finish outside the top 4 before we make changes to the manager and board?

i fear that even if we dont qualify for champs league this season by beating that italian side, it still wont be enough for wenger to go or the board to change their ways. maybe when we get relegated wenegr will get sacked?

We need to see what our team do when our squad is settled at the moment with the summer we have had and the situations with fab and Nasri, it is all a bit of a mess.

From what it sounded like, our defence played well and Sczez looked commanding and marshalled his area well. These were big problems with our team and looks like they might be getting better.

So to say Wenger hasn't addressed any of the problems is not true. Just because he hasn't brought anybody else in in defence doesn't mean he hasn't been trying to address it.

I know it is only one game, but other people seem to be saying same old Arsenal again, with only seeing one game, so I will choose to notice the change that there seemed to be in our defence in that one game, which was a big plus point. Hopefully it continues.

Once Nasri and Fab go and we hopefully get a couple of replacements and the team settle, then I don't see why we can't do well this season.

This should have been sorted out ages ago granted and it does make me angry, but it is what it is at the moment and we need to make the most of it.

Song will probably get retrospective punishment, which he deserves, so we could go into the Man United match without Gervinho (deserved his card to) and Song that is extrememly worrying. But lets see how we get along.

Lets hope our team pick it up and do well on Tuesday :DD

It is way too early to judge this team and you won't see me doing it again until at least December. But there is no excuse for the Barton incident if these "kids" have really done some growing up this summer.

They should both know better, both in their mid 20's I think? hopefully Gervinho has learnt his lesson now, otherwise it will be a long season :DD

The word i've emphasised in bold - settled - this is key for me - do your transfers early, and incorporate the players into the team tactics.

The preseason should allow you to bed in these new players and get the team working as one. For us, it has not happened due to the protracted Barcelona hunt and Arsenal denial.

If you look at Man Utd, look at their buys, and just finished watching the game on Sky, you can see how Ashley Young and Phil Jones has benefitted from such a policy.

I wouldn't lay this all on Wenger - i think Gazidis is as much to blame, and has not had the same dynamism as David Dien. You hear him talk, and he has the gift of the gab, and is a good salesman - but is this just compensating from a lack of understanding in negotiations and how to structure a playing staff to support Wengers vision?

Seems that Cesc saga has come to an end!
Personaly i have mixed fealings for this move!
Cesc Fabregas a player who you can have only once in a lifetime!

Well i hope we get at least a good deal for him becouse i would be mad if we dont for a player who has been providing most assist in reacent year in europe go cheap and becouse at the end Barcelona would get what they wanted with their disrespectfull aproach to this transfer!

It will be for around what has been said for the last week probably. So I don't know what you are expecting?

I am happy it is going to be over. Really think that keeping him can only have a negative effect on the team now. It's not even about him being fully comitted, having to go through this every transfer period is ridiculous. Having a captain that wants to go to another club and all of the players know it, just isn't good enough.

It's a shame we couldn't have had success with him, but maybe our team will become more mixed and our creativity will come from more than one player? who knows?

Barcelona have acted like dicks, but as people say it is business. They had us over a barrel because Cesc only wanted to go to them, if we had a few teams involved and he wouldn't have minded going to any of them, then it would have been a different story.

I just hope Barcelona go on a really bad run and don't win anything :DD

Just need to get rid of Nasri now and hopefully get in a couple more people before the deadline and I think we will be fine.

Well what can I say? Thank you Cesc, good luck and hope you can teach some manners to those twats Piqué, Puyol, Alves and Xavi over at Barca.
Now let's move on please. Next!
Off with Nasri and please spend this money Wenger! All of it, if necessary, don't go only for bargains, FFS! We need some real heavyweight talent. Not just potential and future.

If AW spends it wisely to make us stronger in the short term, it will be ideal and we can get our shit together. If he uses the money to make more 15m Chamberlain-like signings, we will have more people shouting 'sack Wenger' before the season ends.

He will be a great loss to the premiership, i want the best players in our league, unlucky lads

Finally. Being a United fan I know exactly how it feels to have lost such an integral part of your team in such a painful saga. Hopefully it's the corner that needed turning, and Arsenal can get on with it.

Watched the match yesterday and wasn't really impressed with either team. Neither deserved to win imo. Song should absolutely have seen red for that stamp. As always I have to ask, imagine if Rooney did that. It'd be 'elbowgate' all over again.

That said, Barton is a c*nt of the highest order. He'll get what's coming to him one day. Maybe we could bring Keano out of retirement for one match only...
