C'mon, that was a normal defeat against a top European side. And you played very very well in the first half. More than demerit from yours, it was Benfica's merit this time.

PS: Gervinho and Sagna are really ugly live.
 
That is the problem with some of those new fans, they are glory hunters. They don't even know that Benfica is a very, very good side. They are so used to winning, that they become immediately impatient...
I miss the Nock Hornby-style fans like Jonney, Bobby, Iceman and Clokender... (what a shame Jonney can't write like Hornby, that would be absolutely great).

How is Axel Witsel doing by the way?

No i would not do that knowing Arsenal i would not talk about treble couse always they tend to fuck up when it realy matters!

Edit:i would stay with Arsenal even if they get relegated only you wouldn't hear any good comment about them then!

To be honest with you Gerd, Witsel is TOO GOOD for the Portuguese League. He is all about class and style. Fantastic signing so far, he won't rest with us more than 1 season. Witsel is the guy who sets the pace in our team, giving Aimar plenty of time and space to shine in the creative path. I'm loving this guy.

Moreover, you go to the stadium and you see a lot of Witsel and Nolito jerseys, which reflects how good they are performing in a short period of time.
 
Good to read that André...if have a soft spot for most Belgian players that are playing in foreign competitions. It is rumoured that Witsel's CMF-partner Defour will go to Porto...
 
This Arsenal side can't sustain a lead even if their lives depend on it. Yesterday even Vermaelen had a sub-par performance.
Chamakh looks useless at the moment. Him and Squilaci are cases which make you think 'what was Wenger thinking?!'

However I did like Rio Myachi. He's quick, agile, skilfull, good passer... He's got some "Arshaviness" about him that I quite like :D

PS: This Witsel guy is the same who broke a Polish defender's leg ain't he? No matter how good he becomes, he'll be remembered for that for a long time

You're welcome Gerd. :)) Yea, I listened that too about Defour, if he's good as Witsel I would be in panic. Also that French guy you told me in the Speculation Thread, Eliaquim Mangala, is rumoured to Porto on a 5M€ fee.

Yes Rentboy, the former Standard player Axel Witsel is now at Benfica. Unfortunately he will be remembered for that awful tackle but is more than that, he is a super classy midfielder. He used to be a bit aggressive (in a good way, not the one you're talked) so I fear that, whit the refs we have in our league, he will get booked several times.

Myachi is the Japonese guy, right? I saw him in the 2nd half and yes, I liked him, seems a good player to me. (Guessing we are talking about that #42 player, I was close to the pitch although I barely could read the names :()

Yes that's the one! Our number 42. He's just a kid, but looks really promising.

Witsel at least seemed to understand it was a friendly match, differently from Garay. RVP was pissed off and squared up to him later. Some people said there was even a fight in the tunnel...

Anyway, this was only a friendly and a nice exercise and you won it fair, but I'm not happy at all with our defence. Nolito dribbled past Squillaci like he wasn't there!
Aimar is quality though. Is he really a sub? or was it just for this friendly?

Aimar isn't a sub mate, in fact the 2nd half team is THE team. I'm glad that you didn't realize that which reflects how deep our roster is. IMO Benfica has a better team as whole but a worse eleven comparing to last year having the likes of David Luiz and Fábio Coentrão. Maybe with Witsel and Nolito shinning around the team can improve and become a dangerous threat.

Oh I saw Garay and Van Persie facing each other! Didn't understand what happened at the tunnel but watch in the news and it wasn't a surprise that those guys were involved there! :LOL:

Gervinho is an outstanding player, my favourite gunner so far last night. He's a very fast and technical player with loads of talents in his feet. Always rounding our area making pain in both wings. Arshavin and Van Persie were quality too, really enjoyed the dinamic of your offensive path. Too bad that either Cesc and Wilshere missed the match. The English midfielder is one of my favourite footballers currently.

dont know what your on about because most of us couldnt give a fuck if we do well in the first half of the season, its towards the end of the season where it counts.

arsenal can stick 10 past man united in the next few weeks when we play them and i will still not be convinced because 10/10 times, united will rape us and make us look like fools when we face them on a all or nothing game
 
well jonney to put it simplistic, it ain't no use to win all the matches after new year if you have lost all those before new year...in the end the result is exactly the same...if Arsenal would loose their first 3 matches you will be the first to complain in here.

Bobby, i have bad news: Vermaelen is out for Belgium's match against Slovenia wednesday, back problems (which may be the reason why he played a poor match against Benfica).

I'm pretty sure that Witsel made that horror tackle by accident (and thas is a very poor choice of words, i'm sorry) because he was frightened of Wasilewski. Anderelcht want to get rid of Wasilewski and rightly so. Witsel may be the vilain in that story, but i can assure you that Wasilewski is far from an angel.

No, to put it in terms of what i am trying to say, for the past 6 years, arsenal have fucked up at the latter stages of the season "fact".

People fail to realize that its not the lack of trophies, its the LACK of commitment in the final stage of the season and the sheer amount of the same type of goals we concede that pisses everyone off.

Like i said, i wont kick a fuss if barcelona beat us playing mind blowing football, however, i will kick a fuss if they beat us because we cant defend a fucking set piece and/or our team is not fully motivated and commited.

I'm getting seriously pissed off at Wenger now. Who the fuck is Oxlade-Chamberlain and why on earth would we pay £12M for a 17-year-old Championship unproven wide forward (when we have so many, plus Gervinho now) and when we're obviously thin on other areas??

don`t think City will be around in 5 years from now. Getting a young Englishmen is good business they`ll be MORE loyal to a club they know about than a frenchie or Spanish players. I think it is £7m upfront and add-ons £10m at best. Arshavin was 12m + add-ons that didnt get would of been 17m.

I`m confuse with the whole We will buy only super-quality and atm we are not negotiating w/ anyone. We will buy Defensive player! with his lies I imagine gibbs. jack n rvp are not injured. If nasri n cesc leave I can see 1 attacking coming in a striker :LOL: seriously Rasmey/ Jack will be thrown in like cesc was when paddy left, no worries ramsey / jack loves Arsenal :BOP: . I would like Rodwell another song that plays dm/cb. Get the german per mert. will fit all 3 players including mata+rodwell+per = 41m (cesc35m + nasri22m= 57m) tie up rvp cmon Wenger it make sense!!!

We all know what super-quality costs and AW ain't paying for it.

I'm still baffled by this Oxlad-Chamberlain story. Let's face it, we're still waiting for the other youngster we bought years ago from Southampton to flourish properly.
 
Wow, I'm quite gutted. Not only Wenger is signing again a too young player to strengthen the squad, but also spending an absurd ammount of money in something that the team doesn't need right now.

There's something obviously wrong in this move.
