Arsenal Thread

I can't believe how we miss Robin, before his injury we scored in
every match, Premier League, Champións League and Carling Cup.
Now first two matches without him and no goals at Sunderland and against
Chelsea. I hope our Danish dynamite can do it better in the next weeks
if he's back as Eduardo, also Clichy has to stabalize our defence.
But we definitly has to do a massive thing in the winter transfer period.

next match is Carling Cup against MC.

definately expecting to lose tomorrow.

We will play our youngsters and they will have their full team out. If we win then its fantastic, but I'm not holding my breath.

But I bet the media will brush aside the fact that its our youngsters playing and start reporting that we are in crisis etc etc

I think the young ones did fairly well think silvestre was awful again . Why is he even here.... he couldn`t see the ball it hit his back then his head

That side was never going to beat City away, especially as City are trying to win this cup and inevitably fielded their strongest side.

Can't fault the faith that Wenger has in his youngsters but they needed some more experienced heads around them, at least some first teamers ready to come off the bench if something went wrong.

IMO there's nothing wrong with giving the youngsters a taste of defeat. Let them absorb that bitter feeling and know how shit it feels to lose to a better side. No disrespect to the CC, but it's not a make or break tournament for Arsenal so there's no better place to let them experience both the rough and the smooth or first team football.

For the vast majority of those players, Man City will have been far and away the best team they've played against. The fact that they came up short will sting and help to weed out those who are going to crumble in this kind of situation and those who will rise to it.

think you need to figure out what was the age group of our squad when Arsenal last won anything? very telling... We gooners know it well and it continues

Agreed but I really do think Arsene could have played a stronger side, you guys need some silverware.

Carling cup is a nothing cup at the moment. Ideal for letting the youngsters play in and against better opposition. that is what he is doing. Much more valuable for Arsenal to give them better competitive games to learn from and build up their experience. Rather than winning it with our full squad.

Arsenal Fans are desperate to win the league and Champions league, then FA cup would be very nice aswell.

I wouldn't be that overjoyed that we have won the Carling Cup, just because it is a bit of silverware, doesn't mean it is worth it. Rather keep 4th place in Premiership and get into the champions league, that is more of an achievment.

We will leave it up to the Tottenhams of this world to gloat at the fact they have won it etc it seems to keep their fans happy.

also I'm sure that the owners of Man City will be overjoyed at the return on 100s of millions of pounds worth of investment resulting in the Carling cup. Because it seems like Hughes is going all guns blazing for that cup.

Agreed. We also don't have enough depth in our squad to go full tilt across four competitions. Three is struggle enough as it is.

Haha! He's a left footed attacking midifelder who can also play wide left or in central midfield. Quick and quite good all round.

This is all according to whoever is the Juventude researcher on Football Manager of course. I've never seen him play.

Good win even if the team didn't look bothered.

Looks like Arshavin is set to play the central role. Traoré was impressive, I've always liked him better than Gibbs and I hope he can keep up.

I think next game we'll have the same line up with Song in for Rosicky.

... and the medical team/glass players joke continues... Rosicky now out again for "1 Month".

hmmmmmm but I finally hope that most of our players will come back
in the next weeks. Clichy (in 2 weeks), Diaby (for Liverpool), Walcott (for Olympiakos)
and Eduardo (for Liverpool) are back soon but I like ever somebody else get injured till then :(
We only need a new forward in the transfer period and we are back in buisness (I hope).

I still think a keeper is required. F*ck know's what Almunia is. Maybe i'm being a tad critical, but if you leave a gap of 2 metres to the left of you, and the wall shows this to the striker, the striker will normally aim it there.

Was watching Given against Chelsea, and was thinking we missed out on a great keeper who actually tries to make saves, instead of losing concentration, and doing dives for the TV camera. The Ronaldo free kick from 35 yards is another example - when he dived under the ball. The tit.

yeah Almunia not even a thought in the Spain team. Who knows what Wenger is thinking, he reminds me of my grandpa who doesn`t believe microwaves . Boils water and uses a plastic bag to reheat food.

lol que loco!

Almunia wasn't even first choice keeper at Celta Vigo... he was farmed out on loan to Albecete, and 2 other teams i think as well while he was at Celta.
