Arsenal Thread

I'm quite surprised, I expected Everton to be a lot more solid defensively. :CONFUSE:

I suppose Lescott's mind is somewhere else...

As it is though, you're still going to have a midfield of Song, and Denilson, without an aerially strong center back.

Everton are a fairly aerial team with Fellaini, Lescott, Cahill and Jo etc in the team and Gallas and Vermaelen were only troubled once in the whole match, they dealt with everything else really well. The midfield also seemed to be scrapping for possesion more and getting stuck in more than they usually do.

It was a fantastic performance, Everton were poor but it still took some great play to score the goals. Song, Denilson, Bendtner and Fabregas were brilliant, RvP led the line well and the defence was sound. The fourth goal where you went on a counter attack was just brilliant, Arshavin nutmegged Hibbert, then RvP megged Yobo and Cesc finished it by megging Howard, I actually applauded that goal and a couple of the others!!

Jonney this is what I was trying to say to you about the team rather than the individuals being most important. The 'team' looked stronger and like there was more spirit between the players, if this is a result of breaking up the dressing room cliques then it was no doubt the correct call.

You probably do need a couple of signings to strengthen the squad incase of injury but Arsene is right to have faith in this group of players and I dont think he is crazy when he says you can win the league. The fact EVERYONE has written you off (apart from me it seems ) and thinks you'll be fighting for 4th or 5th place is ridiculous but it takes the pressure off and leaves you to do your stuff and prove them wrong.

I know it's early days and there's still 37 games to go but have some fucking faith in your team and grow up a bit. If I can see it and I'm a United fan, why the hell can't you?

well i just came back from holiday and only found out we won 6:1. i saw the highlights and amazed at what denilson and bentder did. never knoew they had the ability to do that.

Still its only the first game of the season though. come feb/march if where still in the top 3 then i will agree with you. its still early days but i am more optimistic though after seeing this performance

Nice Song, shitty tune. Oh and they missed that bit of him stretching at halftime :P

Seriously though, it seems Song's been steping up since the end of last season, but he's our one and only player capable of filling this role. No other DMFs in the squad. God forbid something happens, who would come in for Song?

Wenger still needs 1 or 2 signings. It's too early so let's not get too excited over this.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow agains Celtic.

Definately, for me the two games where I really noticed his improvements last season was away at Spurs when Sergeant Eboue got sent off, Song kept us in the match and really bossed the midfield - and again away at Old Trafford in the league, I think he was playing at center back but his tackling and pass distribution was so much better than at the beginning of the season.

One DMF to cover/contest for the role and one decent defender to cover as well (especially if Senderos leaves) and I really think we are in good contention for the league. If everyone stays fit we are going to have a great starting lineup and players like nasri, rosicky, walcott, vela, eduardo, wilshire, ramsey to come off the bench to help win matches - compare that to liverpool's bench on sunday and you see why theres plenty of reason to be confident! Wouldn't be suprised if we also go for Chammakh but not to bothered about this, our new 4-3-3 formation means that everyone is chipping in with goals as seen on saturday.

I'd bet by house that Fab will play a part tonight. Sagna is a loss but Eboue can fill in there, Denilson is a tidy player but hardly irreplaceable in the starting 11. Diaby would appear the natural substitute and I fancy Ramsey to get a run out at some point.

A hairy fixture no doubt but it's kind of exciting to have such a big CL tie straight from the off. I just got my ticket for the return fixture next week. Got proper football buzz today! :D

very fortunate tonight to get 2 away goals it`s great. Arshavin doesn`t look comfortable in 433 ,but neither does Robin our defensive side looks stronger I`m not sure what to make of it.Going forward is worried me

Vermaelen looks like one of the missing links, great in the air, strong in the tackle and looks like he can play the ball as well.

Arshavin was very quiet though, very little magic from him tonight.

Yeah they look very natural together I must say. Been very impressed with Vermaelen in these 2 games, he's very good in the air considering his height. I saw him a couple of times for Ajax and he played well then and also the deal breaker - he's been good on FM for years  so looks like you got a goodun.

As Ian Wright said on Saturday "he must be good if Wenger bought him."

Your looking good at the moment. With Nasri, Walcott and Rosicky still to comeback you can really suprise a few mongs who thought you wouldn't make the top 4.

Game was ok I expected 6 goals ,but it was an average performance against a poor side.4-3-3 seem better then 4-2-2 C`mon Gunners let do The Mighty Celtic

Gallas`s face control the ball to score made me chuckle :))

The first goal was gorgeous, nice play from Eduardo and a brilliant finish from Diaby! Those are the types of goals which I love, a stunning strike into the top corner. :BY:

For some reason I am really worried for tonight.

I have a feeling the team might get a bit cocky and think it is already won.

With Fab out I know we can see them off. But they will be throwing everything at us to win. It is an extremely important game financially wise for both teams. There is no way Celtic are just goign to roll over.

As long as we don't get cocky I think we will be fine. But whenever we win a few games well. The team seems to get up themselves a bit and let things slip. Thats when we come crashing down to earth.

Come on Lads, lets do this properly and win!!!
