Arsenal Thread

I think you can only sign up for red membership at certain times of the year. I keep forgetting and missing out! :((

I usually get mine from season ticket holders when they don't want to go, but thats very rare.

Thanks for the info about Arshavin guys, so I guess he is more like a funny guy, but I still think Henry, Ljunberg, Toure, Adebayor and Eboue were all very annoying.
On the other hand you look at Fabregas and see a great attitude, how many fights did he get into? How many players tried to break his leg? A little bit of class doesn't hurt.

Anyway very nice group for Arsenal today.

Bit of a Belgian group in the Cl:

Arsenal has Vermaelen.
AZ has 4 Belgian players
and Standard, well that's pretty obvious...

Woah, they are going to have to change that!

Apparently one of the earliest rules governing football said that only two football personnel from Belgium (Including anybody associated and paid by the clubs) are allowed in each professional league.

So with that rule we can't all be in the same Champions league group. In fact Liege can't even play. They will have to implode and never play football again. Or just employ non Belgians.

Apparently the old rules have just been found and can't be changed, so there will be no Belgian league at all. They need to disband it over the next two years. All of the Belgian players need to apply for new nationalities if they want to carry on playing professional football.

Apparently the rule was put in by some King in Ye olde days that choked on a piece of Belgian chocolate and grazed his windpipe. So he put this rule in to get payback!

Everybody needs to abide by these old rules and there is a chance that they can be overturned but it may take 5 years to implement?!

It's a funny old game!

I think this is a great precedent being set. Unlucky for Arsenal but if they continue this for everyone it should really stop a lot of diving. They really will need to set up some very good regulation because now they are only going after a diver who has gained because of it. What about all the dives that go on but don't directly lead to a goal? They will have to be punished aswell really. With the amount of dives going on I think this will sadly begin and end with Eduardo.

Wow, very mature and sensible stuff from you lot, good stuff. I'd feel the same way if it was a United player, and lord knows over the past few years it should have been.

It's all about consistency. That's all anyone wants from officials. I hope this becomes implemented in all the big leagues, woudl make the game sooo much better to watch.

Oh and stopwatches, and 20 minute halves. How easy would that be? No more timewasting...

If they charge him they HAVE to do it against every player that dives from now on. They HAVE TO!!!!

If they don't, then it is discrimatory and cannot be justified! how can they just choose to do it to Eduardo?!

If it happens and they do it to every player then fair enough, I really hope that happens. It will be good for the game of football.

If they just do it to Eduardo and no others? then I will personally go down there and set fire to the cunts!!!! because that would be an absolute disgrace to football just singling out one player?!

Well, this is what i thought. I understand that Lithuanian striker was banned in Scotland for diving. The thing is, everyone does it, particulalrly in the CL. So yes, they will have their work cut out with all the diving - did he, didn't he etc...

Hahahahahahaha what a nob. Giving all American football fans a good name! ;)

Poor Eduardo, Wenger's right, it is a bit of a witch hunt.... unless they apply it to all situations.

Lets hope they dont do retrospective bans eh otherwise a few players will never play CL football again

I'll believe it when the likes of Gerrard get punished as well. Until then, its utter fuckin bollocks, typical of Uefa

As I posted in the Celtic thread, Ashley Young dived twice and won 2 penalties last night and I've barely heard a thing about it. It's ridiculous xenophobia from our media, and the SFA and Celtic are happy to deflect the attention away from their frankly shite performance.

True that... 2 shots on goal over 2 games is brilliant CL entertainment. cunts.

They will need to set up a whole new office with about 20,000 people in to deal with all the diving incidents in Europe. Lots of other countries where diving is the norm and they will have to act on.

I really can't believe what is happening! it takes a dive in a game where the goal wasn't that significant to create all this shit!

There have been much worse dives in much more important games that have all been overlooked! why the fuck go so fucking mental about this one?!! its fucking disgusting!

As I said if it gets rolled out and is used for everybody then fine. But I highly doubt this will happen. They will have to introduce new legislation and carry it through, which takes a while.

So it looks like it will just be a discriminatory thing against Eduardo with no real explanation why he gets punished and no other player?!

It makes them look like amateur bastards, how can people take them seriously?!

I think this is splendid.
If this had started with Ronaldo last year, everybody in this thread would have been jubilant (and rightly so).
Tough luck for Arsenal that they start with Eduardo, but UEFA have to start somewhere. I think Platini is a brillinat UEFA president.
