Arsenal Thread

Maybe a Barcelona-like formation. What do you reckon?

------------------Almunia---------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
----Sagna---Vermaelen----Gallas---Clichy----
-----------------------------------------------------
--------------------Song----------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
---------Denilson*----------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------Fabregas-------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
-----R. Van Persie------------Arshavin---------
-----------------------------------------------------
------------------Eduardo------------------------

*Ideally either Rosicky or Nasri would play here, but they're injured so AW might rotate Denilson and Diaby.

Important players like Walcott, Bendtner and Eboué would be sitting on the bench alongside Vela, Wilshere, Ramsey and Gibbs waiting for their breakthrough.

Not to look too fragile, I'd expect RVP and Arshavin to track back a lot and help with defending.

Could something like this work in the Prem?

i have always said it and i iwll say it again, our full first team can beat anyone but because of how EASILY our players get injured, i bet you that lineup above will only happen in maybe 15-20 games in this whole season

Looks very good in my opinion. Looks like Wenger may be looking to base his side on Barcelona

Yeah Cattermole has a bright future, he's got a lot of good qualities already for a young midfielder. I'm surprised Sunderland were able to get him and Cana relatively cheap and Arsene didn't seem interested in either.

I think if Wenger is to get a player he'll go for someone more proven than Cattermole. They already have enough "Potential".

aint their a single arsenal player who use to play under wenger that has done well and progressed both has a player and a person?

I was getting angry and realize if Wenger wanted to win for his ego he could of left to RM. Wenger is brilliant he might not get what he deserve today, but tomorrow he will be ahead of most managers that stayed the course.

Building takes time and things happen as you build that wasn`t plan ,but Wenger is sticking to his plans that he agreed 5 years ago. Even though transfers out of desperation increases Wenger doesn`t evolve like others and when owners like City,Chels,RM...etc. When they leave! It will leave clubs like a run down whore whose juices been dried up like prunes. They want success by any means somehow, somewhere its not going to payout once the well has dried up.

I have faith in Wenger because he wants what`s best for Arsenal.I read how even the board has pressure on delivering and they spout out "We have money to spend" Wenger is so cool ,so fresh ,he tells the board"you are not doing me any favors with those claims" So fresh so neat!

Jonney I would like for you to read Arsenal: The making of a modern super club' by Alex Fynn. It very interesting...:!

I'm excited as well! Tomorrow is the beginning of it all, we're gonna win the Prem with the likes of Denilson, Diaby and Bendtner :D

Good luck for the new season. If we dont win it, I hope you do.

I've got a feeling Arsene could be proved right this season. Arshavin is a hell of a player and it's his first full season so his impact will be greater and if you can keep the majority fit then you'll do well.

Think Arshavin's a fabulous player, and Eduardo is a brilliant finisher. Ver Persie is also very good on his day.

But really, the team has absolute no backbone, no spine. I mean, if you'd have gone out and bought say Melo, and Hangelaand, I'd be genuinely scared. As it is though, you're still going to have a midfield of Song, and Denilson, without an aerially strong center back.

Depends really how they start, Song did well during the final few months of the season and infront of that Fabregas and Nasri/Denilson/Diaby/ could pass most of the park.

Vermaelen!!!!! My GOD he won 90% balls in the air and scored such a good header. I was disappointed to see Denilson score (was a cracker too) ,but It was a good performance and Fab`s show well what can you say 2 goals not bad.Song step up too, 6 goals and 1 from a striker :CONFUSE:

if we win the league with this team i will suck wengers cock

I know it's too early but you gotta be careful jonney

What a way to start a season, 6x1 away! Excellent display of football today, Denilson was really good and Song did well too. I really liked Vermaelen, very strong in the air and composed on the ball. I think we're not gonna miss Touré that much...

The man of the match was Fab, no doubt, 2 goals and 2 assists and he made a nice tribute to Jarque.

Of all our players, the biggest disappointment is Sagna. He was really poor once again. And what's the deal with Bendtner #52?
