Arsenal Thread

I think if he gets to start from the beginning of the season next year, then you might see him tucking those chances away regularly, just because Wenger showed faith in him.

I just hope he does because remember that much near the end of last season when he missed four easy chances in a row? I'd rather not see that happen to a young player again.

Nice, one more and a world class CDM to go...
:D

Yep, thats pretty much it. If you can keep the existing team together then we're looking at serious title challengers again.

To be honest, this isnt looking good for us though. If you improve, Liverpool having already upped their game, and with Chelsea always chasing for all honours, we're in the shit after seeing our best player.

Arsene better do it quick then. He's been linked with Inter Milan also. Hard to compete against the italian champions.

But if it does happen it would be great. Melo is just what Arsenal needs in the middle. Plus, those 17 yellow cards in Serie A are equivalent to like 10 in the Prem.

I think he's already quite good and has the potential to be really good. He's got a really bad rep for various reasons and has turned into one of those players who gets critised by everyone regardless of how he plays.

Some of his movement and off the ball runs are quite intelligent for a guy his age and I think that his strike rate is impressive considering he's third/fourth choice behind RvP, Adebayor and when he's fit Eduardo.

Yeah he lacks composure and misses chances but getting booed by your own fans will only make that worse and I think people forget he only turned 21 in January.

Exactly, he is a decent striker and an intelligent bloke too. He is fairly decent player and gets himself into good positions, but to say he lacks composure would be an understatement. I also don't think he needs to work on his heading, he's tall and wins most aerial battles, but his headers are fairly weak. I quite like him tbh, more confident than arrogant, imo.

MARKUS BERG, Arsenal need to sign him, hes young, hes fresh, and clinical and have both feet and is destroying the u-21 championship right now.
and is worth around 15mil right now at age 23 ,2 year later that could triple...

Don't even suggest it.

Someone does good in a tournament so of course you should sign them.

Never take the Dutch league as an indicator of true quality either, look at Kezman, Kuyt, De Ridder, etc.

He is talented though.

Depends, Imagine if we didn't sign Ruud cause we was scoring shit loads in Holland rather than England/Spain

its a very easy league to score shitload?.... your speakin like a football genius...? the dutch league is excelent league, how can league be easy to score against? that just ignorant shit right there...

If Alves, Dirk Kuyt, Mateja Kezman and a shitload of others can score mega amounts of goals in Holland, and then go on to fail completely at scoring them in other leagues, then it can't be the best league in the world defensively eh?

Hell Alves scored seven in one game once, what does that tell you?

It's more to do with the fact that they struggle to adapt to the EPL, rather than the quality of Eredivisie.

Yeah Dempsey's quality. He was one of Fulham's best players last season and he's got a habit of scoring against big teams too.

Dempsey is getting better and crediting his success to Fulham, but to put an Arsenal shirt not good enough  besides Americans seems to work well at the cottage McBride was capt. and was more lethal

loll? you dont judge a striker on the league he play but on the quality of his work and goals just look at berg versus england U-21 yea he was not marked but the quality of is goal was fantastic most of striker would have still put those over the cross bar marking free. I tell you that Markus BERG is quality

According to ArseBlog, Serdar Taşçı is next. Would slot in next to Vermaelen. Not seen much of Taşçı this season, so lets hope Arsene knows.

Bit sad that Melo signed a 1 year extention today. I thought we would have moved quicker.

Arsenal have confirmed that Amaury Bischoff is one of eight players to have been released by the club.
Midfielder Bischoff joined the Gunners from Werder Bremen last summer but failed to make an impact and will now seek a new side.

James Dunne, Rui Fonte, Abu Ogogo, Paul Rodgers, Rene Steer, Vincent van den Berg and Anton Blackwood have all failed to land new deals.

However, youngsters Luke Ayling, Craig Eastmond, James Shea and Cedric Evina have been handed professional contracts at Emirates Stadium.

Can't remember seeing the guy play that often TBH, how many did he play?...

Oh no, please not Tasci. I saw him playing very often and
the German media overrates him in my opinion.
I can't wait anymore for a new DMF player. :TTTH:

Felipe Melo has extended his contract until 2013. There will be a release clause of around £20 million. I think he will stay for a few more seasons. Arsenal and Fiorentina are on par in recent seasons. Both teams are 4th spot contenders and both have CL football. Fiorentina also have a very ambitious and young squad that will only get stronger. Players like Montolivo, Jovetic, Kuzmanovic, Melo etc.
