Arsenal Thread

Apparantly Barcelona vice president is in London to try to sign Adebayor and Hleb. Surely you lot wont sell them both :|

Don't you guys feel a little concerned, that you are selling 3 of your best players of last season?

last season made me realize not to lean on my understanding and knowledge of AW. He proved we can do more after Henry departure, so concern no! not even a bit..why `cause AW knows what we don`t know we saw for 3 seasons what we`re capable of ,but fell short (and he knows why) seeing Robin fit and well gives me all the hope

Does that mean you think you can win the Title or challenge in Europe without buying in or even with selling more players? I honestly don't see that, he needs to strengthen and not just look for good promising youth either..

that`s just it! I don`t think I just support and HOPE!(transfer window is not close on June 30th) btw I want Arshavin wearing an Arsenal shirt!!(reminds me of Tevez)

Exactly? Losing Flamini,Hleb and Adebayor in one window is crazy. its like Liverpool losing Torres, Babel and Mascherano and United losing Rooney, Ronaldo and Hargreaves. your starting to look like a feeder club who makes the player and then sells them on? if you didnt sell anyone this summer you still needed 3 or 4 new faces, so with 3 of of your first team players leaving that 3 or 4 would be 6 or 7 new signings needed.

not sure I understand your point??? feeder club?...haven`t your best players left to RM and did great things (trophy wise) are united RM feeder club as when Arsenal players left their no greater when they left...:))

Ours left in different circumstances though because we had reasons for selling them and weren't forced to sell them, although we might be forced to sell Ronaldo in the near future...

Totally different mate, when we sold Ruud and Beckham we actually didnt want them here and we forced them out, also i wasnt just talking about 1 player leaving like those two situations cause thats already happenend to you lot this summer (Flamini) but it looks like another 2 of your biggest assets could be leaving in the same window. for me losing 1 can happen but the fact you lot could possibily lose 3 of your best players in one window doesn't show how your looking to improve.

They contribute a good part ,but they were the reason we lost ...tell me what Hleb do past (Nov) Ade did good ,but in the last 3 months or so we resorted to long ball imo. Fabregas is the upmost important along w/Clichy + Sagna (1st season w/ us too)Toure + Gallas (needs to be sharper). Maybe Walcott, Vela and Nasri run open the wings and Robin ( fit) w/ do the job!

So I don`t think its all doom...last season everyone said mid-table, so I wouldn`t think past too much. I hope Ade stays but he has a terrible 1st touch and we bought him for 3mil so it`s just business :DD Besides lets see whats on the market before you start slaggin . We supposedly bit to short for Diego (Bremen)

Wenger's plans taking a downfall, i can see him leaving near future if Arsenal continues selling good players and hoping that young ones can replace the abilities

I see you point but Hleb is not one of our best players, I will be glad to get shot of him! 4 goals from attacking midfield last season is no way good enough in our team. Ade had a great year last year but I would be surprised if he did that again if he stayed. If Barca offer £20 miliion for him then thats good money, everyone has a price.

Wenger makes all the decisions - So he won't go because we are selling players because it is up to him.

I do think if we don't do well this season though - I think a few players will leave and it could be very detrimental to the club (The main one is Fabregas). We could see mass changes.

I hope to God that doesn't happen - We just need to start winning again.

Everyone does have a price, but you can't let your core team leave all at once.

Press says Ade is with the Barcelona Staff in London to get things done and sign the contract, so he seems 50% ours by now, Hleb wants to leave to so, seems like you turned out to be the Machine of Europe. You buy young players, you train them you sell them and buy another one. Even if that is good, you won't win a damn doing it, you will just spend and get the transfer money to cover the money you lost in that season. You guys should start making a team, not an academy.

I think he is making a team of players that actually want to play for us. When we get that - then we will that much closer to winning things.

I will wait to the beggining of the season before I comment - see who we do actually buy and sell.

Think those days are dead mate, 95% of the time players will play for anyone who pays them the most. if you lot are waiting for that then it will be a long time and you'll have a all english side with Arsenal fans.

I think we can get a team that wants to play for us and appreciates what club they are at etc.

I don't necessarily mean players that want to stay with us for ever. Just players that see their forseable future with us and will give us 100% when they play for us.

Hleb to me seemed like a lazy player - He didn't give 100% - He gave what he wanted. For the second half of the season he gave us hardley anything.

Flamini - I really wish stayed on. He had heart and worked his arse off. But he went to a bigger team (Overall) - I still think he made a mistake though going to AC.

Adebayor I will be dissappointed with - But not too dissapointed if we get nearly £30 for him and get a decent replacement.

Toure, Glichy, Sagna, Gallas, Rosicky, Van Persie are main players that have heart and a desire to play for us. There are a couple of Fringe players aswell. But these are the main ones.

So I think it is possible to get a commited group of players together. It is a lot more difficult with foreign players - but it is achievable.

Yeh i can see what your saying, but do you think you lot can compete for the title with those 3 gone? the main issue for me is i can see Wenger replacing them all but that shouldnt be what his summer should be about he should be looking to further strengthen area's were you needed to get better players in rather then replacing good players with new good players. for example you bought Nasri this summer which seems like Hlebs replacement yet you should be looking to get a new GK and a CB rather than a CF, AM and a DM. still you lot have a strong team but you need to improve your squad rather than the 11.

True - I do Agree with what you are saying.

I think we would have been in a better position keeping those 3 definately. As One of the reasons we didn't win anything last season was because of our small squad.

So yeah - If we get rid of 3 players and just buy 3 players - we will be back to square one - but with players probably not used to the prem - so its even worse.

We definately need a new centre back - I will be very dissapointed if we don't get one.

I like Alumnia though - I think Goalkeeper is the last of our worries.

Anyway - Its all about ifs and buts. If Rosicky and Eduardo come back from injury and stay fit and match up to what they promised before - then they will be like two new players. The same with Persie.

But The likely hood of them staying fit is slim in my opinion. So its hard to say.

I don't know - We just need to bolster our squad and as you say - selling our players is not doing that!

Is alot depending on how much your budget is, if thats most of it gone then it is alot but you never now you might spend big after the euros?

I'm getting more and more the impression that a player must speak french to play for Arsenal. WTF is up with Arsene Wenger, spending that much in a player like Nasri? I hope I'm wrong, but he doesn't seem the player everyone is expecting...

Meanwhile that russian guy Arshavin has been brilliant in Euro 08. If Arsene likes the young lads, why wouldn't he go for a kid like him?? He destroyed Holland on last Saturday!

Also that Russia CF, Pavlyuchenko has been surprisingly good.
